What is the best way to connect my Vista desktop to my 2514 router? I have a console cable and a serial-to-usb adapter, but I haven't been able to get it to work. My system does not have a serial port.

In device manager I get Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM4) with the yellow exclamation mark. It has Prolific 3.3.5.122 driver, which Vista claims is the most up to date driver. All of the cabling is connected properly and I have tried multiple USB ports with the same result.

At this point I just want to buy a solution rather than spend more time loving with this equipment, so are there any kits or adapters that anyone knows will work?
