Don't be shy! There are more avatars here, just make sure to check the thread so you don't end up with the same one as someone else. Toyline Summary: ![]() Movie Series: The is is the toyline based on the new movie(duh). These are what your local stores should have on the shelves now.. Whether or not the store actually has them or will sell them to you is another matter entirely. You can check these out here. There is still a huge list of all the Movie Merch at TFW2005. ![]() Animated: A toyline based on the new cartoon. This line is stylized to reflect the designs in the new show. Supposedly these are coming out later in the year(towards or during summer). We got a preview of the line at Toyfair, you can check it out here and here. ![]() Transformers Classics/Universe: New, modern interpretations of classic G1 toys, mostly done to make them look closer to their animated counterparts. This line has great sculpts, articulation and is generally the favourite of most folk around here. Classics is slated to continue as the "Universe" line, confirmed for Classics 2.0: Deluxe class is Prowl, Tankor (Octane) and Sunstreaker. Ultra Class is Onslaught and Powerglide.here. Preview Pics of Classics 2.0 from Toyfair:here and here and also here. ![]() Robot Heroes: A line of two-inch tall PVC figures in super deformed style. They do not transform and only have limited articulation BUT THEY'RE SO ADORABLE ![]() Masterpiece Series: This line is dedicated to creating large scale re-imaginings of the original toys to better match their animated counterparts. Most figures in this line will cost you anywhere from $100 to $200(Probably more too). The Optimus and Megatron in this line are basically the awesomest things you will ever own. Out now is a G1 Inspired repaint of MP-03 Starscream, exclusive to Wal-Mart. You can check the Masterpiece series out here. Also, maybe Grimlock? ![]() 2007 Renewal Packaging G1 Re-Issues: A stupid name but an awesome idea. Takara is basicaly re-re-issuing some of the figures from the G1 series for people who missed out on them. The first wave of these will be: Convoy(Optimus), Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream. These will be book-style re-issues like the previous versions, take THAT scalpers. Revoltech: A line by japanese specialty toy maker Kaiyodo. These 6" figures are non-transformable, but heavily articulated. You won't find these in Target or Wal-Mart, these are import items that you will probably have to buy from an online retailer or hobby/comic store. In this line is Optimus Prime(with obligatory Ultra Magnus repaint) and the newest release is Megatron. Kaiyodo will be putting out Starscream and Rodimus later this year. The gallery for these is here. Music Label: This line includes a white Optimus Prime with a trailer that acts as on iPod docking station, a working Soundwave MP3 Player and Rumble & Frenzy earphones. These are all out now. ![]() Alternators/Binaltech: This line consists of robots that transform into licensed, real-world cars. They're larger than the standard toys but are very detailed and poseable. In Japan, the Alternators line is called "Binaltech" and are made of die-cast metal, making them more collectable to those who want a toy with a little weight to it. Also a part of this line are the abominable Japanese Kiss Players, which are re-packages of previously released Alternators. Except they come with creepy little anime girl figures that give Transformers super-powers or something through swapping spit. Rumble & Ravage are the newest figures in this line and are Wal-Mart exclusives in the US. This line is on "hiatus" in North America, however Takara is releasing two new Binaltech toys:BT-19 Bluestreak(Impreza WRX) and BT-20 Jazz(Mazda RX-8 in Jazz's movie colors). You can check out figures in this line here. ![]() Titaniums: These are die-cast versions of favorite characters, this line is a little more fan oriented that the others in that they're usually homages or directly taken from the various cartoon and comic properties. They're a mix of metal and plastic parts, the early figures in this line were flimsy but they've since gotten better with each release. There are also some non-transformable mini-figures in this line. Upcoming in this line(Maybe) are War Within Prowl, Comic-Con exclusive Menasor (Rodimus Repaint), and a War Within Optimus Prime vs. War Within Megatron 2-pack (exclusive to Toys R US). Hasbro has cancelled this line as well but some of the revamped concept stuff might find it's way into the Universe line, albeit without die-cast parts. You can check the Titaniums out here . ![]() Cybertron: Based on the recent animated series. This line has some gimmicks and is viewed as kid-oriented mostly, but GIVE IT A CHANCE IT ACTUALLY HAS A LOT OF COOL TOYS IN IT. Most of them are at least as articulated as the classics and scale well with the other lines. Hasbro is currently raping the molds for this line to come up with new repaints for the Movie and Universe lines. You can check these guys out here. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Where can I buy these?: Most every boxmart carries Transformers, if you live in a big city you will probably only find slim pickings as scalpers take all the good stuff to sell on eBay. TIPS: Go as often as you can, check behind other stuff, check below, inside of and at the top of shelves. Scalpers are tricky. They even hide stuff in other aisles. What's a good online store to buy TFs?: Amazon, Hasbro and Bigbadtoystore. Amazon is slowly getting fewer and fewer of the newer lines, Hasbro doesn't ship internationally and BBTS does mark the figures up a few bucks(but if you gotta have 'em, ya gotta have 'em.) HLJ.com is also a good place to start looking for Japanese TF's YOU PLAY WITH CHILDREN'S TOYS!! Oh no! My life is a lie, you've shown me the errors of my ways stranger! No more will I roam the toy aisles! Seriously though, people have all kinds of stupid/crazy/perverted hobbies. I'd say collecting toy robots is one of the more harmless ones. Also it helps the economy why not ![]() Waaaaah! I can't find something here in Nowheresville! Is there any hope for me? Fear not weeping goon! You can try just asking in the thread, lots of people have better luck finding stuff or are selling older stuff all the time. Don't be scared to ask, the worst we'll do is tease and ridicule you. Spent the day at work playing both DS games...I agree with the sentiment of the last thread that the Autobot version is a little weak. Way too much clock-racing and quasi-puzzles. Whereas the Decepticon version is very, very cool. The wi-fi features worked out pretty well for me too. EDIT: Also, great title/icon! As far as I'm concerned, Transformers: The Game is total crap (not the handheld version, the platform version). It's a bunch of timed missions with lovely gimmick enemies over and over. Good graphics, tho.

^^^^^^^^That's wireless play, not Wi-Fi.g-c posted:How does DS wifi work for the TF game? You download a daily battle, which appears to be taken from the various challenge stages throughout the game, and whichever side has the most participants that score the best, win the battle for the day. Whichever side wins the best out of 7 battles win the war and a new war starts. You can check it out at http://ds.transformersgame.com/

Yeah, and after dying for the umpteeth time on the final battle (you know, if you get almost to the end of a stage and then die, you have to do the WHOLE stage over). I give up. I'm glad I got this game for $20 on the PC so I know not blow $70 on the xbox version. It's pure crap. Revolver Bunker posted:So which version for the DS is more fun? Autobots or Decepticons? Well, I think most of us have only played the Decepticon version, and it is a bunch of fun. I think Arariel has both and started playing the Autobot version, but eventually went over to playing Decepticons becasue he wasn't getting experience for destroying random innocent vehicles in the Autobot version. Also, in the Autobot version apparently you have to be more careful about causing wanton destruction.

S1nn3r, I'd like to hear more about the PC version to be sure it's the same as the 360 version. While there are a lot of timed missions, the open nature of the levels, plus the collection aspect of the energon cubes keeps me playing. The only timed missions that have been a problem for me have been the ones that force you to play as Scorponok, who's not only weak but fairly difficult to control. The game does nail the toughest aspect of making a Transformers game, which is that you have to make a game that does walking/shooting, driving, flying, and any other alt-mode hijinks well all at the same time. Works for me, especially since the alt-modes are far more useful in the new game than they ever were in the Armada game.

Keldroc posted:S1nn3r, I'd like to hear more about the PC version to be sure it's the same as the 360 version. This is sadly true; most missions in the Armada game either required no transforming or were simple and obvious "get from point A to point B" sequences that could be done with any character. (Also, since no levels took place in civilization, Hot Shot therefore had the worst vehicle mode by default, since you never needed his speed and he had crappy traction.) The early design sketches shows that they wanted more vehicle integration, with alternate/better/secret paths that could only be reached by a certain character in their vehicle mode, but time constraints limited them to what we got. Also, the glider pack was a good excuse not to throw in any flying Autobots. It's still awesome as hell to plow through a squad of Decepticlones or take out a heavy turret at full speed as Prime, though.
