If you don't feel like watching the show, here's clips of it set to the original TF theme so you get the gist of the parody/tribute. No little anime girls at all, don't worry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffYBjfyE7L0

The Transformers toys are getting so well-done and are so aimed at fans, collectors of every other toyline, even ones from the same company, look like battered housewives. The Transformers team just loves its fans so much. Even the G.I. Joe devs would screw their fans with multipacks and things (want Alpine? Here's another Duke and Cobra Commander!) and let's not even get started with Star Wars. Or anything Mattel. Mattel. *shudder*

For a short time around the turn of the century I modded at TFW2005, and the "Hasblo is loving US" crap was the most annoying of all also they didn't give mods there the super-Nazi gently caress you, shut up banning powers that SA does, so I really couldn't do anything about it

Really, you were? Small world. Though really, I am so in love with the Transformers brand as of late, and it seems a lot are. If you're going to collect one toy line, collect Transformers. Also I think Dave from moonbase 2 put it best: "Here's a massive love letter to the fans. Buy all these awesome toys this Christmas, because we know you guys aren't going to buy that horrible movie 3 crap. We'll see you again next year, though!" Great thing about Transformers is that it has become so huge that they can afford to make crappy little toylines for the kids (Movie series, Power Core) yet still make a lot of stuff that is massive fanwank that us big kids like. We can all agree that the movies are utter trash, but thanks to them Hasbro has the money and resources to make the actual toyline better than ever.

I've seen plenty of Darkmounts and WfC Megatrons around Northern California, Red Alert once or twice, but no Soundwaves. I finally got too paranoid about him getting skipped over since he's kind of short-packed and bought him off hasbrotoyshop.com. Which of course now means he'll be clogging the shelves by next week.

I ordered thru BBTS to get mine, and I'm glad I did. All I see is WFC Bumblebee and Prime. I saw a a few Drifts and Thrusts for a while, but now even that's dried up. I kind of dread my decision to try and find Blurr and Dirge in stores now. =\

It gets you 25% off your purchase, and HTS has a promotion going on right now with free standard shipping on orders over $50 (which for some reason combines very oddly with the promo code, I had to get up to about $65~ for the shipping to register as $0.00) I ended up grabbing Highbrow, Firetrap, and the Combaticons and Protectobots PCC sets

Why yes, they go in, tie up the factory workers, loot the factory floor, then go back, sell it on the internet and probably drink some grog or something. Seriously, though. As I understand it, the guy with that site is located near the factories and is a huge Transformers fan. Since he's closes to the factories, (and has connections with them), when stuff gets "leaked out," he's normally the first to get it, takes pictures, posts them on the internet, and then resells any extras he ends up with. Primarily, though, he sells knock offs, as the site name implies.

Well you'd think hasbro would shut him down, right? Like, he's not just selling product that's not meant for public consumption (yet) and they're not seeing a dime of it, but he's also openly selling knockoffs on the internet. Seems a bit shameless, doesn't it?

It's not cutting into their profits significantly enough to warrant an expensive legal response, yet. That's about it, same reason Hasbro doesn't seriously go after groups like Kold or even Fansproject. As long as whatever these groups are doing doesn't significantly impact their sales, they're free to go on doing what they do, but groups like that always have to tread a particularly fine line. The other reason is that China, where most of the KO groups and official Hasbro plants are located, isn't particularly concerned about international copyright law, though they've been taking somewhat stricter action in recent years.

Plus, most of the accurate KOs meant to be replicas of figures are of figures that haven't been produced for years. I admit, I bought a couple so I could have cheap G1 alternatives.

Ghenzhao is just one guy, and he's jusy taking a bunch of off-the-plant samples. Though he makes good profit selling them off to peaugh, Vangelus and co. the overall loss to Takara or Hasbro amounts to little more than the value of the figure at the end of the production line, sans packaging, instructions and transport. In other words, .34 cents.

I forgot to add, he got banned from TFW2005 around in March beacause someone made a thread complaining about the poor QC of his KO-lucky draw Optimus figures. The chrome was scratched, rubbed off on several places, plus the brittle translucent plastic used for binding his arm kibble just snapped. His response? total meltdown, called everyone who complained a whiney bitch, then went on in the most exaggerated way about refunds, customer service, etc. He could have handled the situation polite and calmly but chose to erupt into curses and wailing: GenZhao posted:A FULL 100% good replacement is horseshit??? whats your problem

Did they actually mold him with an open mouth or is that the mold damage they sometimes do to the faces of stuff that isn't to be sold? Because I like the idea that he's perpetually yammering about how this particular situation reminds him of something else.
