So I exchanged the PCC Rallybots set for the Destructicons set... and so far I'm not all that impressed with them. I can't get Mudslinger into monster-truck mode, the motherfucker doesn't want to peg together properly. His cab doesn't sit right in the front, nor do the legs hold together in the back, and the instructions are vague on where his arms are supposed to be angled along the underside so that his wheels are "in position" (and those arms don't seem to tab or peg into anything so they're just kinda loose on the underside and it looks like rear end. I messed with the drones with PCC Huffer (which I had bought a while back) and they're pretty neat I guess, but oh man Mudslinger is not impressing me at all. I'm real close to just returning the set because his vehicle mode is pissing me right off.

A bunch more scans popped up for Masterpiece Hot Rod/Rodimus Convoy. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers...0-scans-170969/ If the rumors pan out and they *do* bring him over here without the trailer then that's one mode we lose out on since we wouldn't have the Space Winnebago.

I like HotRod better than Rodimus so I couldn't care much about his trailer. They should include a fishing pole though.

All it needs is classics starscream dissolving into american flag coloured snakes and it would be complete.

I picked the PCC Bombshock/Combaticons set up today at Wal-Mart for $15, and I can't get Bombshock's legs to peg together for vehicle mode. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I really want to like the PCC stuff but the commander bots just keep letting me down. Huffer's transformation is insultingly easy, Mudslinger doesn't peg together well in vehicle mode, and now apparently neither does Bombshock. I just don't get how Hasbro could drop the ball THIS badly with what is otherwise a pretty neat concept.

They were going to have to compromise somewhere, and I'd rather it's on the trailer than trying to squeeze a third (fourth?) transformation out of the main toy and ending up with the usual issue of most of them looking half-finished.

So Special Ops Jazz is pretty much the perfect iteration of the character, and Turbo Tracks is pretty drat great. For some reason Wal-Mart neighborhood markets are getting Reveal the Shield in way early, so everyone go out and check if you have one in your area!

Also I figured out how to peg PCC Mudslinger and Bombshock together properly, I like them a lot more now. The drones are neat and I think the sets were worth getting at $15 a pop. I'm still REAL tempted to pick up the Rallybots set, provided they've fixed the QC issues.

According to /toy it's the design documents that eventually morphed into Animated Prime looks really awful (to me, no offense to anyone) and those don't seem to be quite akin to that...

Spiderdrake posted:According to /toy it's the design documents that eventually morphed into Animated Yeah, it really is "Transformers Heroes", not Prime. It's indeed the line that was developed to take over as a TV series after Transformers Cybertron, and eventually became TFA. They wanted to distance themselves from Armada/Energon/Cybertron, so they tried more cartoony proportions and the idea that the autobots would be kinda like superheroes on earth (hence the title). The idea was progressively refined to become Transformers Animated, with the most significant change being the involvement of character designer Derrick Wyatt, who brought them a wholly new perspective on just how cartoony they could make the robots, especially once the engineering guys discovered just how close they were able to stick to Wyatt's style with the toys.

Wyatt's a really cool guy from what I've heard, and he's probably one of the most passionate dudes about nearly EVERY aspect of the Fandom. He was a really cool guy to have working with Transformers considering he came out of Hannah Barbara, I believe. He's one of those guys you can walk up to at a con and say 'Hey can you draw me Kilbison/Powerhug/Blacker/Tankor' and he'd be all like 'I know exactly who that is and the coolest pose I already want to put them in' Rei_ fucked around with this message at Nov 25, 2010 around 18:02 |

On the flip side, just to paint a full picture of the dude (personally, I generally like him), he's extremely opinionated and will tell people that his "personal fanon" (I feel dirty for using that word, but it's unfortunately appropriate) is right over official statements by Hasbro or statements by the writers. He also gets upset at people and tells them they're wrong if you point out that Hasbro is necessarily going to trump his personal opinion, since he'd have to get approval from them for it to be something official; and that the writers are going to have more say in what happens plot-wise than the guy who draws pictures, since they actually decide and then write what the plot is.

Voyager TFA Prime makes me sad. I wish they had completely overhauled him at the end of the line and redone him with everything that had been learned in the interim. He's a great little figure but he shows an awful lot of aging compared to say, TFA Rodimus. It PROBABLY would have happened with Animated Powermaster Prime.. Which considering that was what happened with G1, would have been amazing. It's sad to look back at TFA and see what could have happened.
