Anybody got mismatched Thrust missile launchers from this year's Botcon exclusives? I have a good friend looking to trade one mismatched one for the other. Have photos if anyone needs the same help.

Vaporware posted:Dear Abby, I died the a couple parts black on Energon Downshift with RIT dye. My method was to... - Boil enough water on the stove that it would cover the parts I was dying. This was about 2 cups. - After the water boiled, I poured it out of the pan into a plastic container. Let that cool for about 1 minute. - Pour in the acetone. You can find 100% acetone in Walmart with the nail polish remover. Be careful when you add it, if the water is too hot it'll make a pretty interesting reaction. The ratio I believe was 8:2 - Dump the dye powder in immediately after, and stir. Dump in the parts you want to dye. Stir for a little bit. - Just walk away from it, other than to give it the occasional stir. Because it's been removed from heat, the water will only get colder, so you don't need to worry about warping parts. One word of caution: it can make a huge loving mess. DO NOT do it in your kitchen; boil the water and then take it too a container you have outside or in your garage.

I had a major problem with shrinkage in parts I boiled. Starscream is getting the non-boil treatment to turn to Thundercracker, but I want a midnight blue, so I need to play with mixing some black in with royal or navy blue. edit: I'm also planning on dyeing movie ratchet, but I haven't decided what color. It's a pretty light green so I could probably go dark blue without hitting black. There's also the option of adding more yellow and seeing where that goes. Looks like the pre-orders for Rodimus on BBTS are gone now. Hopefully I'll get them from HTS.com without having to resort to buying my two from BBTS.

I should clarify that as soon as the water hit a boil, I shut off the heat and poured it out of the pot into the plastic container. I let it cool enough that it wasn't visibly boiling anymore, and poured in the acetone (in hindsight I wish I had waited just a bit longer, cause when I poured the acetone in it had a reaction to the heat and scared the poo poo out of me). I then put the parts in with the dye. The acetone and the still very hot water I'm sure are more than enough to dye plastic without actually putting them in boiling water. Also, because it has been removed from heat, the water is only going to keep dropping in temperature, so the parts probably don't have enough time in the heat to get to a point that they shrink or warp.

Checked Target again on my way to work, and of course they hadn't restocked with new Deluxes. I'll check again later today - I'm going to see Transformers with my father after I get off work.

I got the Mini-Formers 5-pack from Wal-Mart. I woulda rather they had Bumblebee, and perhaps Soundwave instead of Mirage. Optimus, Megatron, and Heisman Pose Starscream are worth it though.

I just wanted to publicly thank Rhyno, as my Ravage and Rumble came yesterday. Thanks, I was never going to see them around here and I hate paying more than double retail. I haven't opened Ravage yet, but Rumble is a nice little guy who really takes after his old cassette mode.

Sorry all, I wasn't able to get out yesterday to look around up in Orland Park. A door sized piece of butcher block (that's supposed to be our new upstairs desk) falling on your fingers puts a stop to that real fast. However all was not totally lost as I was able to stop in at the Wal-mart on Butterfield road and Rt. 53 after summer school. They were better stocked than most of the places I've been too, but still fairly sparse (plenty of Ratchet, Jazz and misc. merch, but not much else). Shiftypenguin, you had any luck at the TRU on 75th in Woodridge? I work less than a few blocks away and it would be no problem for me to stop in after work. Just want to know if I should spent my time there. The earliest I can get back up to Orland is this Monday. Any IL goons been up there in the mean time? Either way I will be going up next Thursday to meet a friend and that might be the best time to look for all parties. I have no problem paying an extra couple of bucks for one off eBay, but there is no way I'm paying at least double for an 08 Bumblebee.

On the subject of non-Transfomer transformers, does this look familiar to anyone (UK goons esp.)?![]() ![]() I believe it's a Bandai product that actually pre-dates Transformers, but I'm not sure. Got mine in late '83/early '84. Anybody? Sorry about the lovely camera phone pic, I had to coordinate the photography with my sister, who is 5 states away.

No poo poo, thanks dude. You just cleared up a two decade old mystery. That robot as a child was my old friend. I told it EVERYTHING. That's the beauty of childhood, if you don't have any friends, you can just invent some. If were to confide in a vaguely humanoid pile of plastic and metal at the grand old age of 28, they'd call me a lunatic! EDIT: I have a red sports car one too. Now I just have to go through the list and figure out which one it is.

I only used my first cap, figuring I'd save them up for a while (I get dew from the machine at the law school to keep myself fully alert). I would have done better to spend them as I got them, I realise now, because there's way more people playing it now than before. When I did it, there was about a 1/5 chance from using a single cap to win Pepsi Prime. Sigma-X posted:Headmaster/Targetmaster Prime or whatever he was (Super God Ginrai) was much larger than G1 prime. Sort of funny story about that. I had never seen Powermaster Prime / Ginrai until a year and a half ago when my roommate at the time found out I liked transformers and showed him to me. Stores in Arkansas were even more poorly stocked then than they are now. My parents got me a few gobots because they were cheaper and I had probably a half dozen actual transformers that I got at garage sales, normally a little broken. From memory, I had Optimus, Blaster, Soundwave (no cassettes for either), half of a Jetfire, and a Sharkticon. Gobots pretty much sucked due to some of them not having real heads (see bugbite above), and the better ones broke if you looked at them funny, while the Transformers were fairly sturdy. Anyways, my point was that all I had ever seen until I was in college was G1; I had never seen G2, RiD, Beast Wars, or anything else until the time of Armada, and even then, it was right about the time Armada stuff was on clearance. I know this because I saw Energon Starscream and I thought he was pretty cool, sparking my interest in nifty robots that cost too much and make me feel a bit embarased to own.

One of my Wal-Marts in Columbia, MO got some of the new figures in today. I picked up Bumblbee and Dreadwing leaving the lone RC figure for someone else. I really like Dreadwing and how they've somewhat reversed the way it Transforms from other deluxe class jet figures, also he's got flamethrowers for hands and that's pretty cool.

Ok.. in the acetone dye thing, it says an "8-2" ratio? which is 8, which is 2? water or acetone? Just want to know since this is probably the method I'll use, and I'll probably have to do it in my kitchen. Hopefully my nice metal sink works....

When I was little I thought he was like a deluxe Bumblebee figure. He snapped in half at the waist, which I found out later was common for Deluxe Gobots. My Grandfather tried all kinds of different types of epoxy and various metal glues, but nothing worked on him. I came across Bugbite again a couple of years ago and thought about scraping off the layers of glue and epoxies and doing a small spot weld on him, but I left him like he was because I'm way too sentimental and the thought of erasing the work that my Grandfather had done and fixing him when my Grandfather couldn't just didn't sit right with me. But now he can do an impression of movie Jazz!
