Spent the day at work playing both DS games...I agree with the sentiment of the last thread that the Autobot version is a little weak. Way too much clock-racing and quasi-puzzles. Whereas the Decepticon version is very, very cool. The wi-fi features worked out pretty well for me too. EDIT: Also, great title/icon! Issue #50 is where Starscream contacts the 'Underbase' which is some sort of super-energy factory deal thing, and develops god-like powers. I'm serious when I say he kills slews of characters by waving his hands at them - even badasses like Grimlock go down in the space of a single panel. It paved the way for them to introduce and work more with all the 'new' characters that had just arrived as toys/cartoon characters such as pretenders, headmasters, micromasters, etc.

Woo, alright, just got back from Botcon. First off, it was awesome. I haven't been to one in many years and it has become absolutely massive. The coolest sights: -The Optimus big rig from the movie was there courtesy of Hasbro, along with display cases full of the upcoming movie toys. Ultimate Bumblebee looks great, and so does the new lineup of deluxe figures that includes Arcee. -A Sector Seven interactive event was there. You went into this black trailer and 'Men in Black' type guys started telling you about 'rumours of non-biological entities in the area', and then a transmission comes in and shows a not-before seen clip of the movie starring Scorponok. It was neat. -The movie premiere Thursday night. One producer showed up, whose name is lost to me, as well as the actress who was the blonde hacker in the film, and Tyrese Gibson showed up too. People were going absolutely nuts, and there were dozens of moments where the entire theater was standing and cheering. Some really great nods to G1 stuff are in there...and there are some funny scenes. The film is pretty long, and as far as PG-13 films go it's not a soft-ball. Lots of 'poo poo', I think one or two 'gently caress's, and a whole lot of violence/death. Also, the movie was really, really good - and there are some pretty incredible scenes. -Peter Cullen autographed a table in the convention hall for some reason. -That giant Devastator that you saw pics of earlier in the thread, plus an even bigger giant Bruticus. Both lit up and moved around a bit. -A massive Autobot hand breaking through the floor holding a clock counting down the time to the movie. I'll have tons of pics and a few video clips up later. Not too many costumes this year. One pretty good Starscream, a couple who went as Red Alert and Ironhide, and some chick who came as the Baroness. And of course, the loot. I walked away with -Masterpiece Megs and Screamer -'Hybrid Style' Convoy. If you haven't seen this thing yet, it's probably one of the coolest TF figures ever made - http://www.tfsource.com/Reissues/TH...HX02-Convoy.htm -About a dozen various movie posters, which they were basically just handing out. -Revoltech Megatron and a Revoltech Unit-1 from Evangelion -The box set of exclusives, the clear Mirage exclusive, and the Huffer/Springer exclusive pack. All of which are great. Also a brilliant target gift-card that transforms into a little Optimus. -A few random shirts. -A signed copy of that Arcee pinup poster. -Signed up for the Collector's Club finally and got a ton of back-magazines and a couple of the toys. -BC '07 light up mug. -That Toys R Us Soundwave -The Robot Heroes Prime/Unicron and Jazz/Cracker pack -Pretty much the set of World's Smallest Transformers -A teeny, tiny little Arcee model kit I've never seen before that I have to assemble/paint. -A crazy little Silverbolt model kit that I got for $1 mostly because of the great insane Japanese packaging. -A boxed set of the entire G1 cartoon and the movie all in one beautiful book-style case that comes in a great tin. -The Saturday Night party goody bag, which had another movie poster, a reproduction of the great air-freshener Bumblebee has in the movie, a sheet of trading cards, and a 'Party like it's 1984' shirt with a picture of Optimus holding Soundwave. Anyway, it was a great time. I overslept my goddamn Hasbro tour so I'm not sure how cool that ended up being. I'll have pics up in a day or so. I'm pretty sure I never saw him in the city fight or after. Now, as for what I think will be happening in the second: Apparently Barricade is still alive, Scorponok seems to live in the film, and Starscream is obviously alive. It's also -possible- other 'cons survived, though unlikely. I'm guessing Starscream tries to gather up a new army of 'Cons, while maybe Barricade and/or Scorponok find Megatron and somehow wake him up? Megs reformats as some sort of cool Earth form(I personally hope he stays 'Megatron', not Galvatron) and surfaces and we have a movie with a lot more cool battles. Alright, so I decided to write a fanfic. It'll come in chapters, and eventually be fairly long.(I hope) It's set in a G1 universe, not accurate to a specific comic, cartoon, or toyline. Through the story you'll see whose who in terms of leadership, who is dead, and so forth. It will include pretty much the entire G1 universe. This includes Micro/Action/Target/Head/Power-Masters. It also will include movie characters like Kup, Arcee, etc. It's going to be a theme of the Autobots being pretty much a single currently-dominant army while scattered Decepticon factions strike at them from all angles. I plan on bringing in a pretty wide cast of characters, and I already have my main characters plotted out. However, beyond them the TF universe is an enormous one - and logistically there are a ton of good characters who just aren't going to get that good a spot. Which is what brings me to this post: I want this to be almost like a weekly/monthly/whatever comic for TF fans..releasing regularly with no set end in sight. I also want it to be reader-interactive....sooooo....I want the goons in this here thread to toss up suggestions of who they'd like to see in semi-main/supportive roles throughout the fic. The chapters will all be pretty comparable to the average length of one in a real novel, but the story itself will probably stretch on very far.(I already have a good bit written, and very much more planned out) So, go ahead...toss their hats in the ring. Keep in mind major characters are probably already in it with signifigant roles, and that I'm looking specifically for G1 Universe characters. No fan-made TFs, please...maybe some point in the future, but not yet.

OK, update on my big ol' epic fanfic. I still haven't decided on a final name for it, but I'll come up with something soon. I'll be setting up a website for it, and an e-mail list so people can have new updates sent directly to them. I should have new chapters up every two-to-three weeks. I'll be doing a little bit of art here and there, but it's not my specialty by far. So if any of you folks are budding TF artists, down the road I'll be looking for some work depicting the more interesting scenes of the 'fic. Finally, a little set-up: As I posted earlier, it's in a complete G1 Universe. Action/Micro/Head/Power/Target-Masters are all there, as well as original movie characters. It begins not long after a massive battle that covered the majority of Earth. The Decepticons no longer have a single 'home' and instead have broken into small factions based out of their remaining Battleships. The Autobots have established complete hold on Cybertron ands Earth. Prime has enacted a policy of reconstruction - repairing Earth, Cybertron, and all the other worlds ravaged by the war. It is so far a succesful effort, despite the grumblings of many Autobots who think this is the perfect time to hunt down and finish off the Decepticons. The Decepticon factions have come to be as much at odds with eachother as with the Autobots, and thus far none have mustered a signifigant attack against Earth, Cybertron, or each other. Anyway, I have all my main characters planned out for a long stretch, and a lot of the secondary set too. But there are a million cool G1 characters and as I said before, I'm still taking any suggestions if people want to nominate their favorites. First chapter should be up in one to two weeks.

Just picked up Hound and Swindle. Hound looks great...I think he may be a bit too short, but he just looks really nice. Ravage is cool too, I'm glad they threw him in there...but Cyclonus is still my favorite of this new line. Swindle is really nice too, I'm pretty impressed with his look - but the shoulder/elbow joints on mine are pretty loose. ...and the news about the cartoon sucks. I wasn't a huge fan, but it has spawned some awesome toys and despite the animation style and writing being kinda kiddy, they made an effort to make a lot of nods to the fans. Think this is happening because some sort of other show is in the works? Something based more tightly off the movies?

So I just got ahold of a dubbed set of all the Japanese Headmasters, Victory, Masterforce, Scramble City, and Zone cartoons pretty cheap at a local comic shop. And the dubbing is just...great. There seem to be about 3 people doing all the voices, and it's very odd to hear Optimus say in a very regular voice "Hey guys I'm here" and Galvatron freaking out on screen but just saying "Those dumb guys." Another great one: Weirdwolf pulling a gun on some Autobot, saying "Beware my magic spell!" then shooting the guy. Also, Wheelie has the voice of a middle aged woman and no longer rhymes. And it's apparently pronounced "CyberTON". Also, about 3 episodes into Headmasters is an equally awesome and tragic moment. Soundwave and Blaster(whose name in the dubbing is "Billy") get into this big duel and KILL EACHOTHER. Blaster just turns white/gray like Prime did, Soundwave EXPLODES. And the scene ends with all of Soundwave's casettes coming in to carry away his head and parts to real sad music. EDIT: No worries though, it would seem their respective teams rebuild both of them(in mildly new color schemes) a couple episodes later ![]() ...but Prime dies. Again. All in all it's great, though...the gestalt teams all fighting eachother all the time, Ultra Magnus fighting with SixShot, Autobot Headmasters fighting the Horrorcons, Jazz fighting Galvatron!
