So I got Soundwave just to get people caring about what I'm doing again before all the Pre-Release Stuff happened. Doing Soundwave would just get kids content with me not doing Exclusives anymore till I got a new job again. This kind of stuff just makes me not wanna do reviews of transformers anymore it just reminds me I'm broke and what I used to have. I rather have a family than all my transformers and I don't even have that.

Okay this is getting more pathetic.

Sean Long is calling for everyone else including Peaugh to STOP REVIEWING until he can get toys first again because right after he got fired he blew all his money on getting youtube attention.

Until now I've sort of ignored him but this is unbelievable that he'd try to drag everyone else into his mess.

If you are looking for a mature show about giant robots, why would you go to Transformers anyway. There's plenty of giant robot shows from Japan with mechandise, gore, sex, realism, layered plots to investigate. Hate it all you want but I really don't get why you'd go " OH JOY, they've stopped the children's cartoon I didn't like maybe they'll make one that appeals to my adult sensibilities now!".

I haven't watched any of those series (except the first quarter of Gurren Langan), though, because personally I'm fine with an immature cartoon and haven't really felt like putting time into that kind of thing anyway. Might someday. But it's nice to chill out with a bowl of waffle crisp and let my inner child out now and then.

And despite being an immature cartoon, Transformers Animated has a fresh new perspective to a franchise that has so many inbred stale ideas. For the first time I've seen, the Autobots are not designatedly wonderful guys but instead are elitist assholes, and the Decepticons aren't really as evil as people like Porter C. Powell. The references and voice acting are fun too.

(man, just the other day someone yelled at me for having most of my posts here and now here I am defendeding the cartoon for three paragraphs)

Part of me really hopes that the Megatron as a tank is just a toy and won't appear in the movie at all. I haven't heard anything about Hugo Weaving in the cast and also the images of what appeared to be The Fallen inside the pyramid that floated around the internet a while back would support that character as the villain.

In the trailer people have been claiming that Megatron was pinning Spike down due to knife treads in the background and the hands looking more like Meg's than Screamer's. And Activisions site, the one that leaked the twins, had a big pic of Megatron before being taken down, it's pretty clear his presence is a badly kept secret. I mean, did you really expect a Transformers movie without Megatron. I like this design for him much better than last movies. I do kind of wish it flew because "Transform and rise up" is so fun to say.

You guys really care a lot about which characters are in the movie and which are not for something that's as complete a reimagining as possible, with almost every similarity to the original being tangential.

The entire movie is like something a destructive little kid would make up after getting some Transformers toys for Christmas and watching an episode or two on TV (not a bad thing if the special effects are up to par). And most of these probably won't even GET characterizations given that they're throwing such a huge cast into a two hour movie. Why should I care if one of them is named "The Fallen" or not? What huge difference does it make? I think the toy looks pretty cool, though.

Yeah, what is this silly juvenile crap? Transformers was always an intensely serious show for mature viewers only. Like how Megatron would such scoop up people from the crowd running from their battle and would crush them, laughing with blood oozing down his fingers. And I'll never forget the episode where Carly flashed her tits, it was the first time I ever saw anything like that as a youth.

It was almost the most mature show on TV, but the surprise sex scene in Power Rangers put it ahead of Transformers a bit.

Ahh yes the old "cartoons aren't 100% serious therefor any criticism for something intensely stupid such as a robot with a keyboard-guitar is completely invalid"

What part of this is invalid.

If it is a Transformers show, it's aimed at kids. It's fine to not like it but to throw a fit because it's not totally serious is just silly.

If you're looking for a mature robot show there's plenty of Japanese shows, there's the comic, but letting loose because a Transformers cartoon has just the teensiest bit of fun with the characters is like barging into Toys R Us and demanding to know where they keep hunting gear and rifles.

And what IS stupid about keytars anyway? Maybe you're more into country music or something?

zVxTeflon posted:

No, im just honestly curious how movie design starscream and hacker plots are crossing the line yet Animateds Brett Favre chin Starscream design and slapstick humor plots are considered the epitome of quality fiction.

Because the MOVIE is a PG-13 aired in THEATERS while the SHOW is FV7 (or something) and airs on CARTOON NETWORK. The movie was supposed to be mature entertainment for mature adults such as yourself.

The cartoon is fun and has a lot of homages and a pretty good plot, and that's why I like it personally.

I don't blame him for making fun of lil formers - why is making fun of a webcomic such a big deal, if he was making fun of Least I Could Do or CAD or something everyone would be like "Right On!", the only reason he doesn't is because his target audience wouldn't get it. And Lil'formers gets a lot of attention for being a webcomic that really, really doesn't try at all. Execution is lacking though.

Oh, gently caress, I'm confused. Don't tell me this is another snafu like Brawl where a character has two names. But if not, when who the hell is Scavenger? Or Demolishor, for that matter?

It probably is such a snafu. Scavenger's toy is probably demolisher, but why the toy Devastator is only six components, or why if they couldn't name the toy Scavenger they gave it the name of a different con, well, it's anyone's guess.

I mean, this list itself is not entirely accurate. It only lists "arcee" when the trailer had three girlbikes (she may or may not be a combiner, but wouldn't the individuals have names? They have robot modes). And it also does not list Megatron.

Derrick Wyatt just said on twitter "Waspinator not in rest of sesazzon.", which lines up with what I heard about Hasbro asking for both less Sari and less Blackarachnia (yeah I know), so we wouldn't know until season 4 if that ever happens anyway. But given the transwarp energy and the fact that they were totally gone when they looked, they probably are someplace different. It's not like Decepticons never escape imprisonment or Megatron is going to warp around space randomly forever.

Besides, you forgor Team Chaar. I'd really be surprised if they never reach Earth to at least give us an Earth mode Oil Slick.

Like the Animated Dinobots, Blackarachnia's pretty useless (at least BW Blackarachnia was always plotting something or other). All she does is bitch about getting rid of her organic half. And PR seemed to wrap her story up pretty well if that's the last we see of her.

Yes, in this episode she CERTAINLY didn't do anything proactive about that organic half, didn't she? Her storyline gives her a lot of possibilities, and if she had stuck around she'd probably make even more predacons which would be great. Neither her nor the Dinobots have really been given a chance to do much outside their little island, there's been more focus on the drat human villains than them.

quote:

Also, was everyone expecting this episode to be a Beast Wars homage (I'm guessing it was, since I never saw it myself), or did you, like me, consider the possibility of an animated Predaking somehow coming to be?

Given this is where Blackarachnia and Wasp's plotline was obviously headin, everyone was expecting Waspinator, and the Beast Wars guys worked on this episode, (and the fact that getting any combiners on the show seems VERY unlikely), I'm not sure why anyone would think this WASN'T going to be a Beast Wars homage.
