S1nn3r, I'd like to hear more about the PC version to be sure it's the same as the 360 version.

While there are a lot of timed missions, the open nature of the levels, plus the collection aspect of the energon cubes keeps me playing. The only timed missions that have been a problem for me have been the ones that force you to play as Scorponok, who's not only weak but fairly difficult to control.

The game does nail the toughest aspect of making a Transformers game, which is that you have to make a game that does walking/shooting, driving, flying, and any other alt-mode hijinks well all at the same time. Works for me, especially since the alt-modes are far more useful in the new game than they ever were in the Armada game.

This is sadly true; most missions in the Armada game either required no transforming or were simple and obvious "get from point A to point B" sequences that could be done with any character. (Also, since no levels took place in civilization, Hot Shot therefore had the worst vehicle mode by default, since you never needed his speed and he had crappy traction.) The early design sketches shows that they wanted more vehicle integration, with alternate/better/secret paths that could only be reached by a certain character in their vehicle mode, but time constraints limited them to what we got. Also, the glider pack was a good excuse not to throw in any flying Autobots.

It's still awesome as hell to plow through a squad of Decepticlones or take out a heavy turret at full speed as Prime, though.

Yeah, because when you have a brand that has endured for 24 years in multiple incarnations across three generations, clearly the kids are having problems identifying with the characters.

Unbelievable.

This is pretty much "The Batman" all over again. I'll eat my Classics Bumblebee* if it turns out any better.

*Not really.

Anyone who died to make way for a Pretender really got hosed over.

You can say that again. I think I was a little too happy when one of Unicron's heralds from another universe sliced a Pretender in half in the Armada comic (or maybe it was just his Pretender shell, it's been a while).

That Elita 1 looks way better than whatever that gaudy blue Arcee repaint was. I'm not too keen on the energon weapons being remolded with dirty brown/gray plastic though, at least they got hers right by making it a solid color and not polymerized diarrhea like Strongarm and Skyblast.

Whoa, somehow I skipped over Air Raid. drat good repaint there too.

Stealth Attack Prime looks pretty cool (bonus: can double as Nemesis Prime/Scourge), and Ratchet is way better in classic ambulance colors.

Since it looks like you didn't get the Classics Seekers for yourself, did you offer to buy a set for anyone else?

That's what I get for word-searching the post instead of, you know, reading

As for the movie designs... while I don't dislike them, they're not exactly the Transformers version of B:TAS. (If anything, they're the Transformers version of Batman Beyond.) If anything could claim that designation I'd say the Classics do, for obvious reasons, although I think Cybertron has been the most solid "real" toy series (as in, based on some existing media) as a whole.

A co-worker who just returned from BotCon reports that the scalping was fast and brutal. All the box sets were sold to pre-reg people, naturally, and many of them ended up on the dealer room floor the next day for $500+. He tried to buy Alpha Trion + Weirdwolf from a dealer and the guy was selling them for $500 EACH.

When he offered a guy $200 for Huffer alone, he was simply laughed at. Springer was nowhere to be seen. Looks like this year's exclusives will be some of the most sought after Transformers of all time.

Frankly, I blame Hasbro for making such awesome figures exclusive as I do for the scalping jerks snapping them up.

If anyone can snag a reissue Soundwave, I'll gladly pay cost+shipping. It's pretty much the last TF toy I need for now. Edit, unless they're screwy like Nefud found. Check them before you check out!

They're all like that, its just that Nefud is playing to character as the grumpy old guy who doesn't like anything. If you're fine with a double tape deck and stickers that can be replaced with ones from repro if you're a stickler, he's perfectly fine.

Oh, cool.

Alternately, what's the best way to de-dust the nooks and crannies in those lovely detailed Classics figures?

I use paintbrushes. Get one of those really thin little detailing brushes, they can slip through just about any joint on an action figure.

Dibbing this. I only wanted a few more figures, and he was one of them. As long as you have his Cyber Key, we've got a deal.

How does $25 S&H included sound?
