Attention people going to Wizard World:

If you are planning on being there on saturday and happen to stumble on a Voyager Optimus before then, I would love to pay you money for him there. I met one of you there last year (Shifty, I think) and it worked out pretty well. I'll definitely try and find that Dead End for you, Alkaline.

I gotta agree. Henkei Astrotrain looks cool, but all of that chrome on the others is godawful, even on Megatron.

That booth had some ok prices, but on the other hand they had a bin full of Botcon Huffers for upwards of 40 bucks a piece and a big stack of the recent Botcon exclusive seeker sets for god knows how much. It wasn't so much the prices that bothered me, but that they had STACKS of this stuff.

So far so good, except for G1 stuff and imports.

2-pack Megatron isn't even with the other animated figures. He's currently lording over the Island of Misfit Knock-offs with the dollar store bad engrish packaging Constructicons and Aerialbots.

Plus he turns into a VTOL pretzel. But Voyager Megs has the same issue.

Makes me a little nostalgic though. Unicron is the figure that got me into collecting. I remember going out and looking for him before he was widely sighted, and I finally found him at the last place I went on the top of a shelf nowhere near the TFs. It was pretty rad, and probably the reason I like looking for and finding TFs better than actually owning them. He's one of the coolest toys I own despite his many flaws.

I'm really not impressed. The only one that kinda interests me is Springer, and it's very disappointing he's a lameass repaint. It's stupid that Dirge is the Cybertron mold, they could have given him the classics Ramjet mold, and given him a slightly different deco than the Botcon version to keep those guys from bitching.

I honestly always hated the old Marvel comic, and thought the cartoon was much better (kind of the inverse of G.I. Joe, but I actually liked both versions). I remember picked it some up as a kid, and what I saw:

1) Optimus Prime as a mere head for almost a whole year, who then kills himself over a videogame.
2) Megatron as Shockwave's bitch.
3) Ratbat, a loving tape, as Decepticon leader.
4) Grimlock as psycho Autobot Emperor.
5) Important characters like Devastator showing up for like one issue.
6) Megatron coming back for one more batshit scheme, bringing back Starscream of all people, and getting glued to Ratchet.
7) All the humans always trying to kill the Autobots constantly, even though its obvious that they're good guys.
8) And a bunch of other stupid poo poo.

Young me correctly thought: "Christ, this sucks." Old me agrees. It's like an insane alternate universe where Transformers completely goes to pot.

I bought the whole series for 60 bucks and I have yet to read through like half of them, but this is all very accurate. The cheesy 80s ads are great to read through though. Be sure to buy The Dazzler miniseries guys!

I don't know if there's a street date or something, but I'm seeing Wave 3 deluxes everywhere now.

Also when I was at TRU there was a kid, maybe 6 or 7 standing by the Transformers and he just started talking and talking and talking to me. It was hilarious. He pointed to Bumblebee and said "He's the fast one!" and then he started pointing out which ones he had. He told me he didn't have Jazz or Soundwave and he really wanted Prowl ("He's the motorcycle.") Then he started explaining Headmaster with Leader Bulkhead to me. This kid must have been going for a straight 5 minutes and I'd just smile and occasionally interject a "that's cool" or "really?". He was just so excited about it all. It was pretty funny.

I must be the opposite of everyone, I bought Onslaught and I didn't really like him at all. And yet today I got Powerglide who seems like the less popular of the two and I think he's great. Warthog mode is badass, he makes the transforming noise when converting him, and he looks cool in robot mode despite his big head and tiny t-rex arms.
