Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis
Joe "Hobbs" Hobbson

Hobbs milled around with the others enjoying the time outside before getting back in the bus. He thought when he got to Detroit, he wouldn't be moving again. Turns out he was wrong. Seemed there was no place for him to stay. First his shelter got destroyed by what the eggheads called a mother. Then his group suffered from various dangers while one the road. He thought by the time he and the other survivor from his shelter got to Detroit they'd be safe. That safety only seemed to be a temporary respite from Hell.

When the option came up to leave the Detroit compound, he took it. He saw the writing on the wall. It was only a matter of time before something went wrong. The acid rain could've got them or those freaks could've broke in. Or one of those mother things could've broken in. Maybe out west they'd have a chance.

He was one of the first sent in to check the other buildings. He recoiled from the scene he saw. Back before everything went to hell, he heard stories about sick freaks slicing people up. He never saw it first hand. Serial killer? occult? Geez, he thought to himself. Why did all the freaks survive?

Hobbs has a look of disgust on his face as he walked back to the group standing around. He notices Brandon.

"Hey," He says, "You're with that new group of folks that just showed up in Detroit. Aren't ya? My name is Hobbs." He offers his hand to Brandon.

Hobbs nods to John as he sees him come over. Hobbs expression is a dour one, but John could tell he wasn't having a private conversation with Brandon.

"Heard you guys dealt with some serious psycho before you came to Detroit. Tony told me a little bit about what happened with you guys. Looks like he wasn't the only psycho running around these days. One of them came this way, seems to have moved along."

Hobbs talks without much emotion. Although many people might show some anger or fright over what Hobbs saw, Hobbs talked as though he was describing bad thunderstorm that caused some damage.

"Let's just say we better be careful about anyone we meet. No telling what kind of secrets they're hiding." Hobbs shifts his position, putting his weight on his other leg. He looks around, checking to make sure there's nothing he ought to be concerned about.

"My name is Hobbs, I used to own a gun store before everything went to Hell."

Hobbs mutters, "What the poo poo." as he watched the fake snow come down. He didn't know what it was, and decided maybe it was best to keep it that way.

As the bus came up on the Redhawk vehicles, he was already standing at the front of the bus straining to see through the fake snow.

"Might be a trap." Hobbs unslings his rifle and turns his safety off. "No telling who the trap is for though."

Hobbs steps out. He takes a quick look around. If they're going to ambush us, then those vehicles are just bait. They should be hiding on either side of the road. Hobbs thinks to himself.

Hobbs puts the rifle to his shoulder and looks through the scope to see if he spot any ambushes.

"What the hell's going on back there?" Hobbs asks John. "If there's anybody in that house, I don't think they'll be welcoming to visitors. No lights on and no movement. They might have heard us or seen us coming. If they did then they're either hiding inside hoping we go away or they're waiting to ambush us."

The continued commotion from the buses catches Hobbs attention again.

Hobbs grits his teeth. The pain means little to him. The fact that the wolves just shed their own bodies, which would be horrifying any other time doesn't stay on his mind.
