Mine snores as well, though it's a cute little snore. Not loud enough to wake me at night, but I can tell from across the room when she's having an afternoon nap. I do sleep wearing earplugs every night because she likes to toss her dishes around.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but it's time to finally introduce the bunny I've been fostering for a little over a year now. This is Sweet Pea:

She's roughly 8 years old, and was rescued 2 years ago from an awful animal (mostly cat) hoarding situation. Her and 3 other bunnies were cramped up in small cages in terrible conditions, with her being in the worst shape of the bunch. She was badly matted, urine stained, and so covered with mites and fleas that she'd lost nearly all the fur around the back of her neck. It was basically every trope of the worst hoarder houses, dead animals, rotting floors, maggots, and a smell that hits you before you can make it through the front door.

The circumstances made it impressive just how fast she morphed into a bunny that was not only healthy, but incredibly social. She was really thrilled about getting the space to run and do general rabbit things, though it did take several weeks for her to realize that she actually could properly jump.

She also became a big fan of melting into the floor for naps:

Not that surprising, but she might be the most ravenous bunny I've ever been around. She's the first bunny of 4 I've had who is yet to shun any proper veggies that are served up, and also shows the deepest love for hay I've probably seen. So much so that sometimes she has no time to waste with patiently eating what's at the opening of her hay bin:

I'll be seeing what other pictures I can dig up that are worth a share.

In breaking white bunny news, the rescue just took in 3 teeny baby buns, along with their mom and dad. They were apparently left behind after an apartment eviction. No pictures of the bunny dad yet, but reportedly the both of them are really friendly and quickly adapting to the change of scenery.

Oh so hype at the prospect of visiting tiny bunnies in the next couple of weeks.

I've been wanting to harness train Pepper for a while. She's a three pound half dwarf, so the first teeny tiny extra small harness I bought her, she figured out how to wiggle out of.

It hooked under her neck and under her belly, which she hated anyway. So I found one that she can step into, and hooks on her back. It's this one: https://smile.amazon.com/Bark-Appea...bark+appeal+xxs

I thought that would solve some of her issues, but it's just served to make her madder. I've tried it tigher, I've tried it looser, she still hates it. I feel like she's disproportionately mad about it. Is it because it's new, is it because she's a rabbit, is it something with that particular harness and I've done hosed up and bought the wrong one?

The337th

It could just be her. I don't have any personal experience with harnesses and rabbits, but I can imagine all the instinctual reasons they might refuse to have anything to do with it. Dwarf rabbits usually earn their stereotype of being the most willful of rabbit breeds, so it might not be something you can easily convince her to accept.

What particular things were you hoping to help with via harness training?

E: In most recent bunny news, I unfortunately missed out on getting to meet the previously posted baby bunnies. They'd just moved from the main rescue to a foster home before I could visit the previous weekend. However, I did get to meet a new bunny, the biggest Lop I've ever seen. She most closely resembles a French Lop, but is part of an unknown how many generations deep breed of meat rabbits. She somehow ended up in someone's ownership off of a meat farm somewhere in the state, and was then given away to someone who contacted the rescue with concern towards getting her back up to health, spayed, and socialized.

In just a couple of weeks she's quickly went from charging and grunting at anyone in her space, to hopping up for a nice lounge in hopes of treats and pettings. Her fur is still really stained from whatever the conditions were she lived in on the farm. Her butt being the worst of it, the majority of her tail fur is missing due to urine scald. Pretty soon though, she'll be one big, beautiful lump of a lop.

Serious level of ears.

Serious level of dewlap.

A hand for a little bunny size scale.

You are trying to put a harness on an adult, female dwarf rabbit aka literally Satan. The fact that she hasn't destroyed everything you love should be taken as a minor miracle in and of itself.

I lost Bun :(

She'd always had bad teeth (I took her in 4 years ago after she was found wandering a housing estate after being dumped) but a few months ago, she was having trouble eating so I brought her to the vet, who said she had a burr on her tooth that had put a hole through her tongue. They did surgery, and she was slow to recover, but she came home from the hospital after 3 days.
A few months later I noticed she was eating slower, and turning her head to one side to eat.
I'd moved 100km from my usual specialist vet at this point, so I brought her to a local vet, who looked at her, said she had a cold, and gave her antibiotics. She seemed ok for a day or so after, but I was giving her liquid feed as well just to be sure she was getting enough. I was feeding her last Thursday night, and she went floppy in my arms - I thought she was choking so I checked her mouth, but it seemed clear. I put her down and she just kept putting her head against the wall, or on the floor. She wasn't improved the following morning, so I brought her straight to my old vet, who said the burr had reoccurred, but because she'd lost some weight, she was pretty weak, she suspected E. cuniculi in the brain.
They kept her in, started treating the E. Cunicili, and feeding her to build her up for surgery Monday. The surgery was a success, she was recovering well, and eating lots. Then Tuesday the vet called to say she'd gone downhill that morning, and to come as soon as I'd finished work.
They called again at 2.30 to say she just lay down, and went to sleep. I collected her that evening, she just looked like she was asleep. I live alone, and she was my only company, she was so friendly and affectionate, and the best little chillbunny :/

I still have her husbun, and he's distraught too, he's not a people-bunny so I can't even comfort him.

Chompsky hadn't been pooping/eating/drinking for a little while now. Usually when this happens I give her some critical care and water by syringe for a little bit and give her tummy massages and she's all better rather quickly. This morning when I had woken up, she had passed two giant compacted turds, which I took as a good sign, but she's been having awful diarrhea all day now. The few times she had done that it was in her pen, but last night it was on my carpet (and my favorite dress shirt). It was stuck all over the bottom of her fur, and she pretty much dragged it all over the bedroom carpet. I called the vet, and am taking her in in just under an hour now, but I gave her a butt bath because her butt and legs were covered with stinky runny poo. I've been syringe feeding her water all day so she doesn't get dehydrated, and it does seem to perk her up a bit more when I do that, though she's still far more lethargic than I've ever seen her before. She had more diarrhea later in the day, and it was all over her again because she just sat in it (on the floor of her pen next to her litter box). I gave her another quick butt bath, and even while I was drying her off she was having more diarrhea, so I had to rinse her off again.

I just gave her some more water by syringe, and I didn't notice any more poop on her, so I'm hoping that it's done for now.

She's getting up there in bunny years, and she already has some dental issues and chronic weepy eye. I've been tearing up all day at the thought that this might be it for her. I'm hoping it's not, and I'm really hoping the vet will give me some medicine to give to her and she'll get better like the other times.

Her temp was around 93 degrees, so the vet is pretty concerned. I have Chompsky laying next to a hot rice sock right now trying to get her temp up. They tried drawing blood, but her blood pressure was too low and they couldn't get a sample to test because her veins were too small. She's also down to 3 lbs (she's normally around 3.5 lbs), and the vet felt a small mass in her abdomen, though she wasn't really sure what it was. I was sent home with some pain medicine and told to give her some critical care in a few hours after attempting to warm her up, but they also insisted that I take information for the emergency vet clinic in town in case she took a turn for the worse tonight. I'm hoping I can get her temperature up and she'll get a bit more of an appetite after that.

Ugh.

I'm also supposed to go to a wedding out of state this weekend. It's a good friend from college, and I'm going to feel like a douche canceling because of a sick rabbit, but I'm not going to leave her alone if she's still critically ill.

We had originally planned for me to take her in again tomorrow to have some radiographs performed to see what the mass is, and the vet wanted to do it tomorrow because she didn't want to stress chompsky with so much stuff tonight all at once, but now we're also going to do the blood work tomorrow too, and see if she's doing any better.

I'm sorry to see all the sad posts :(. I've been lucking for a while and I've loved following your rabbit's stories.

I thought I would introduce you to my rabbit (well he's become mine, my partner bought him at university and now I live him as well as her!)

This is Lord Voldemort - he's a 4 year old Dutch. He's mainly indoor but on nice days he loves being outside, plus he has much more space.

https://www.flickr.com/gp/125730664@N04/2Wrmc2

Sorry I can't make this upload with the awful app.

We went away this weekend, and Voldemort decided to live up to his name and attempted a daring escape which very nearly succeeded. Luckily my girlfriends dad caught him in the act and moved him inside before any more damage could be done.

I occasionally heard him scratch inside but never thought he'd ever get through. Whenever I cleaned out the cage it looked solid - but clearly he'd cleverly hidden the hole behind a poster until he was ready. (I can only assume he made a hole big enough to get his mouth round and then executed his plan).

When we got back he punished him with fresh strawberries and a carrot. How can we be angry at him, after all it's only a £100 cage...!

How worried should we be about sudden onset but frequent sneezing. I've never heard my girlfriend's dwarf lop sneeze, but this afternoon she's been sneezing a bunch. Granted, I have been sneezing a bunch too due to the sudden appearance of fall weather here. No changes that I can see in her appetite or anything, and of course googling it brings up all the worst case scenarios.

I think the girlfriend is going to take her to the vet tomorrow in case it's snuffles, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone had a similar experience.

Check for green mucus because that could be a sinus infection.

Otherwise it could just be dust, weather, or your bunny being really stupid and trying to inhale hay.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out! She came from the humane society and she's only been at my girlfriend's house for about 3 weeks so we don't have a good baseline for what passes for normal behavior, besides flopping over in weird positions and looking dead.

You can also check to see if the inside of the front paws are matted or wet from rubbing a runny nose.

But yeah, I've had a batch of hay that causes sneezes and also a bun who couldn't help but shove hay in her nose. So there lots of potential no big deal causes.
