The Ames chain of stores went out of business in 2002, but some doofus decided to make a fan site. It is just really lovely and depressing to look at. They have an entire page dedicated to screenshots of the front of stores.

Here is a page about the webmaster. He is insane with his love in all things Ames: http://www.amesfanclub.com/members/chris/index.htm

North New Jersey Paranormal Research

In a few weeks, scientists from around the world are going to smash proton particles together at the Large Hadron Collider, uncovering answers to the universe. They will literally recreate the big bang for fractions of a moment and study it. I'm not sure it is getting enough press, but it took over twenty years to get everything together to do this, and some have called it "the moon landing of quantum physics". They could make black holes or discover other dimensions. So far, the preliminary tests have been sucessful.

This link is not about that. Elsewhere in the world, a group of people who call themselves researchers take pictures in a New Jersey graveyard and call dust spots on their photographs "orbs" and "ectoplasm". I saw them advertise on Craigslist twice this week, looking for more people to participate with them. It's all kind of sad in many different ways.

They are very serious about their work:

NNJPR posted:

Mark attempts to communicate with the spirit of the little boy who is standing right in front of him. Although Amee could see him clearly, Mark could not see him.

Just submitted two links through the frontpage system, but I thought I would share. Didn't really check the archives so I don't know if they are dupes.

1)
FREEDOM FROM COVERT HARASSMENT AND SURVEILLANCE (FFCHS) - possible nws stuff, but I wouldn't be caught there regardless.

http://www.freedomfchs.com/index.html

Tin foil hat types, literally. Some guy who is into this kept warning my coworker about how the government electroshocks people. Turned that out he was cuckoo for coco puffs. Probably stuff you have already seen, but it looks like it is a big movement! Well, there are a few people who protest. Well, more like a dozen. Here's a funky video they made about the psychic wars or something:

2)
Xtreme Strength

:nws: http://hilda.thevalkyrie.com/~xtreme/about.htm :nws:

A fetish website where strong, poorly photoshopped/CGI women lift jeeps, taxis, motorcycles, vans, weights, and other heavy objects. There is more here than I would have thought possible. Wonder Woman seems to be a fixture as well.

Hey, thanks for using my link! I was pleasantly surprised when I viewed my RSS feeds today :)

I guess I will have to throw another into the pot while I'm here:

Forgot if this was done already, but it doesn't look like it. This one man band always looks so awkward and I laugh every time I watch his promo video. It sounds like he has a midi track backing him, too, which doesn't help.

I had a chemistry teacher in high school who, when teaching us about solvents, mentioned that he mixed Agent Orange in Vietnam. He also lived in a dome home, and kept a picture of it on the board at all times. I'm sure both of these facts are not related at all. Anyway, when I was trying to find it, I came across a company dedicated to making these kinds dome structures. Stadiums and planetariums I understand. But cabins, homes, schools, and churches... architect, you crazy.
