With the resurrection of the Loveline Archives and the other Loveline thread reaching 900 posts, I thought it would be a good time to start a new thread. Here are some links to help everyone out with their Loveline fix:

2010: Year of M&M
As much as I love Carolla, his morning show stinks. Teresa usually adds nothing to the conversation other than "Yeah" or "I agree" and Bonaduce is the most annoying man I've heard in radio. He snorts loudly and very frequently, and ALWAYS has to bring any conversation to his drug use, ex-wife, some whores he had sex with, or some dude he was about to fight.

It has its moments, but its mostly garbage.

I was so happy when I found out the archive is back! The stream was good for getting my fix but I still definitely prefer the archives. Listening to the 5/16/02 episode with Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn now. Hilarious.

At first it may seem like Dr. Drew adds very little to the comedic value of the classic Loveline shows. However, it's not until you listen to Adam and Drew separately that you realize how important the pairing was to the comedic pacing of the show. Alone, Adam becomes too much to deal with and at times downright obnoxious. Pair him with Drew and you get just enough of a break from his commentary (and vice versa) to create a really enjoyable pace that keeps both of them from taking over completely.

I still remember trying to listen to a Dr. Drew only night, I gave up after I decided that Drew's system of a new caller a minute was too depressing.

The first thread got me hooked and convinced me to get the large torrent. If anyone is on the fence about jumping in, just go for it. It's hours and hours of hilarious and often insightful advice.

According to the site, "In case anyone is confused, this site will only have shows from the Adam Carolla years, 1995-2005."

...and you spelled "archives" wrong.

Edit: And everyone make sure to look at the "Quick Links" section at the top-left of the page for more episodes!

Danger's my middle name .... No really, it is.
I live in Australia, and I'm currently listening to late 2005 with the end of Adam. He's been guessing people are Jewish and never getting it right. Now I don't think I know any Jews. In fact everything I know about Judaism comes from Seinfeld and The Nanny.

Does he really think those people are Jewish, or is he being ironic? Like, is that a Jewish stereotype?

Edit: Ironic. Many episodes involve Adam talking about the differences between cultures, religions, etc. Jews are assumed to be well-off financially with very tight-knit families so yeah...he's being very ironic when he guesses "Jew" wrongly for the 400th time :D

I've never heard him do that before. So is he mocking the typical white trash caller by sarcastically suggesting they're Jewish?

It's a radio show started in the mid to early 80s that focuses on human sexuality both in terms of lovemaking and relationships. It grew in popularity (especially among all of us) when Adam Carolla (Man Show) joined. He made a point of berating and belittling callers who are complete morons which is, often, the funniest part of the show. It is co-hosted by Dr. Drew, a board-certified physician, addiction medicine specialist, and, most importantly, a very passionate man.

It is unique because it is a place for honest and open information about any aspect of relationships or sex. It is worth noting that a large majority of the callers are from lower socioeconomic climates - kids at 16 and the like.

Also, try your namesake first.

He was being very ironic, because stereotypically Jewish families stay together have have good parenting and etc etc. He calls Jews on all the families with massive abuse histories and broken structures and teen pregnancies.

The ones we all listen to are from 1995-2005. Adam Carolla (The Man Show) and Drew Pinski (Board Certified Physician, Addiction Medicine Specialist) take calls from troubled and often hilariously stupid teens and answer their questions about sex, drugs, relationships, etc. Most of the time is taken up my Adam ranting about traffic or weather or anything else. It's great to listen to for some reason, sometimes the calls are incredibly sad and you want to kill everybody on earth for raping their daughters from ages 2-15, and other times you get just pure laughs.

Give it a try.

I've been listening to the Archives since I saw them posted in the last thread. This show is loving genius, and the combined wisdom of Adam and Drew probably had more influence on me as I gew up then I care to imagine, given that I spent almost every night from ages 14 to 17 tuned in to their program.

Also, I'd love to hear about any calls to Loveline that goons have made during their lives.

Imagine; you're sitting there listening to the episode through the phone, alone in the basement and maybe playing PS1, and then suddenly wham you're on national radio talking to the people you idolize. get some DAG in there! He can be annoying, but some priceless episodes with him on there.

And yes, not only was it a great comic pairing overall, but plenty of Dr. Drew's expertise rubbed off on Adam. They could both recognize an abuse victim in no time flat by the end of Adam's run.
I can thank this show for so much good advice and perspective on matters sexual and relational.

I know everyone else in this thread knows to watch out for "baby voice," too.

Also:
"So where's dad?"
"Huh?"
"Where is your dad."
"Uhmm.... like..."
"Your father, where is he."
"Oh, he hasn't lived with us since I was eight, Mom's new boyfriend lives with us now."
:psyduck:

Oh, and Loveline is perfect for the ipod. I traveled around the world for 8 months, alone... there were a lot of quiet bus rides/plane trips/downtime... and Loveline was there (as were TTC lecture series).

Oh thank gently caress the archive is back, I had to listen to some episodes multiple times because my stockpile ran out :gonk:

Time to download about 100 episodes in case this ever happens again!

As for good episodes:

-Any episode with Steve-O and Chris Pontius (or any of the Jackass crew because they are always hilarious and incredibly frank, one episode Steve-O actually gets propositioned by a caller and takes her up on the offer)
-Tom Arnold (really interesting, also one of the funniest calls of all time, the holocaust call.)
-Robert Downey Jr. (in one of the episodes his ex-wife calls, also he's really drat funny)
-Dave Attell (just hilarious in general)
-Seth Green (also hilarious)
-Ron Jeremy (for funny Adam rants about pornography and for all the interesting stuff Ron talks about)

It's always great when they get a particularly dumb caller.

This is from one of my absolute favorite Loveline calls, when a girl called in to talk about getter her clit hood pierced:

Caller: :j: "I just got my clit pierced. They call it the trunk.
Adam: :raise: "What, they call it the 'trunk'?"
Caller: :j: "Well, where I'm from they do."
Drew: :crossarms: "Do you mean the hood?"
Caller: :j: "No, I'm from Virginia Beach."

I wish I could remember which episode it was in.

I got into LoveLine from when the other thread started, and have been listening to an episode a night. Now that school has started, I'll have something to keep my mind off my long walk.

My favorite moment:
Adam: So the strip club across the Hard Rock has a womens strip club upstairs, so I accidentally went up there...
Drew: How did you accidentally go up there?
Adam: I tripped and fell up the stairs!

Had me laughing for several minutes.
