It's always great when they get a particularly dumb caller.

This is from one of my absolute favorite Loveline calls, when a girl called in to talk about getter her clit hood pierced:

Caller: :j: "I just got my clit pierced. They call it the trunk.
Adam: :raise: "What, they call it the 'trunk'?"
Caller: :j: "Well, where I'm from they do."
Drew: :crossarms: "Do you mean the hood?"
Caller: :j: "No, I'm from Virginia Beach."

I wish I could remember which episode it was in.

The sheer beauty of that exchange is that the caller will never ever know why that was so funny.

There was similar call of retarded genius where Adam asks a caller what she does and she replies "I work at a factory" Adam then asks what she makes to which she replies instantly "12 dollars an hour" :suicide:

Oh thank gently caress the archive is back, I had to listen to some episodes multiple times because my stockpile ran out :gonk:

Time to download about 100 episodes in case this ever happens again!

As for good episodes:

-Any episode with Steve-O and Chris Pontius (or any of the Jackass crew because they are always hilarious and incredibly frank, one episode Steve-O actually gets propositioned by a caller and takes her up on the offer)
-Tom Arnold (really interesting, also one of the funniest calls of all time, the holocaust call.)
-Robert Downey Jr. (in one of the episodes his ex-wife calls, also he's really drat funny)
-Dave Attell (just hilarious in general)
-Seth Green (also hilarious)
-Ron Jeremy (for funny Adam rants about pornography and for all the interesting stuff Ron talks about)
This is when I was cemented in my belief that he just plays himself whenever he acts.

Could someone host the Brad Sherwood episode from 2000-08-15 when Adam goes into the hilarious Tommy Vu impression? That show really does need to be shared and I dont think people will get the whole 6 gig torrent just for it(although it is worth it)

Asking someone to pick their favorite Loveline episode is like asking someone to pick a favorite from their children. We love them all, in their own separate ways. Some are a bit better than others, but they're all worth listening to. Just start at the beginning and work your way along. The only ones that should be avoided (and even then, only if you have low storage capacity) are the Stryker ones, or the ones where either Adam or Drew are on their own. People talk a lot about how Drew by himself isn't that great, but Adam definitely loses something when he's on his own too. They had chemistry.

If anyone still needs convincing to start downloading old Loveline shows, this should do it: a recording of the infamous "Holocaust" call.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=HsnaNu7sJiQ

Herein a phonesex operator calls in, asking for tips on how to not get her customers to finish so fast. Adam thinks she needs to subliminally work disturbing subject matter in, such as Vietnam or the Holocaust. Hilarity ensues.

That entire Tom Arnold episode is pure gold, after listening to Tom Arnold talk about harrassing a guy who molested him, and you're waiting for the last break and Adam to say mahalo; they take that call.

She may not have known what the holocaust or subliminally means, but at least she could make a guy cum in under 7 minutes by voice alone. :colbert:

Yes! That was amazing. And I loved the game they played in which they'd try to guess the caller's past based on their present. It was shocking how accurate they usually were. And when somebody made a really good guess, the other one would reward him. One of my favorite exchanges:

Drew: Did you take tapdancing classes when you were 3?
Caller: Yes.
Adam: That's it, I'm giving Drew a dollar.

I liked the Nye episode. It's true that he's one of those guests who doesn't really get the show, but he still works out okay. Bill is just too nice to really get into the rhythm of Loveline, but it was worth it to hear him interact with Drew. They're obviously both smart guys with a lot of intellectual curiosity. There were a couple points where Drew would be explaining something medical to a caller and Bill would stop him and ask for clarification on some terms - it was cool to hear a guy like that who would readily admit he didn't know everything but was always interested in learning more.

He was way more responsive than 80 percent of all the guests. He laughed at Adam's jokes, talked with Drew and was generally into it.

That Patton Oswalt show was fantastic by the way, I think he is the only comedian besides Chris Titus that could keep up with Adam and was really funny.

The Patton Oswalt & Brian Posehn episode is one of the most consistently funny episodes I've heard so far, even if the discussion about who they could gently caress at what point in their careers lasts a bit too long. Also, Brian doesn't add much but is pretty funny when he actually says something. Patton is 100% gold though.

Worst episode I've heard: Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd. He rarely says anything and when he does it's something insanely idiotic, Avoid at all costs. If anyone has any other episodes where the guest is terrible please feel free to start listing them.

2010: Year of M&M
Jay Mohr bombed so spectacularly that its worth listening to. He just kept going until he realized that he bombed and just spent the rest of the episode mocking himself with Anderson dropping in canned laughs and applause.

I forget the guy's name, but the lead singer from Smash Mouth was a great guest. He talked pretty openly about pretty personal issues (death of his child, tucking his penis between his legs and dancing around the house - very personal). Anderson tore into him by dropping in "And I saw her face now I'm a believer!" song that he covered. Pretty much any episode where Anderson tears into a guest is good comedy.

The drill instructors Leo & Tony (2001-05-10) were awesome (YOU GOT ANOTHER QUESTION WEIRDO HURRY UP PUSH PUSH PUSH YOU NASTY THING) and Violent Jay because most of the drops are from his one appearance.
