Had a proper conscious listen to Slint's Spiderland last night, reading the lyrics and stuff. What a great record. Really weird stuff. Someone nailed it when they said the entire record was basically a countdown to the last few minutes in Good Morning, Captain where the band finally let loose. So great. Oh yeah. Dunno if it counts but I listened to Isis & Aereogramme's split Ep last night too. Fantastic collaboration.

Jan posted:I'd seen the name around but kind of forgot to check them out -- I just did, and thanks for reminding me! Tried out the samples on their myspace, then bought Happiness off iTunes, then ended up buying the rest. Really worth it. Aye, I enjoy them; thanks for the recommendation. How do you pronounce their name?

Souldark posted:Tiger Girl fade and walk-off, into Debutante and Radio Protector to finish. 65daysofstatic kick all kinds of rear end. Glasgow? Yeah, that's how they ended last night. Amazing stuff though it wasn't loud enough. I felt very detached from the music. Also, the programming during the main 'riff' (I guess?) on Weak4 sounded awful. That being said, a good show.

Their album is out there? Grand. Just saying, Special Moves / Burning is loving amazing. Obviously doesn't quite capture the live experience of a Mogwai gig but 'tis very close.

White Noise and Too Raging to Cheers are stand outs. Phenomenal works. The rest of the album sounds good. I was underwhelmed by Rano Pano on its own. I stand by my original assessment; it's very basic sounding, especially the opening, and meanders without any interesting movements. However, in the album, it fits well.
