Apparently I could go see GYBE for as little as a tenner in Bristol in October. I think I'd be silly not to take that up but I'm a little unsure of how they'd be live, though. Also, are there many dudes here into Grails? Do they even count as post-rock? Some of the stuff on Burning Off Impurities is groovy as gently caress.

So dudes, I am almost certainly going to try and get tickets to see Explosions in the Sky, and I hope you all are, too! But my question is, do I go to the Manchester Academy, or London Roundhouse?
|
| # ¿ Dec 3, 2010 01:06 |
|
Yeah, I've been told that the Roundhouse is good and that Manchester is kinda scummy (this may or may not be true). In more important news: Mogwai's new album has been leaked. Not that I condone listening to it before buying it, of course.

In better news, Grails' new album "Deep Politics" is out if you know where to look. I'm halfway through my first listen, the first and title track have stuck out for me so far. It's Grailsy as you might expect.

Rageaholic Monkey posted:I actually haven't! And not exactly. We met them last Spring when they played here in New Orleans and kept in contact with Phil. They were going to pass through here and we needed to book our album release show, and it kind of all just fell into place. We were very lucky and blessed to have gotten such a great opportunity I really like "He Who Strikes First Wins"! It's super awesome you got to play with those guys, I hope your new found success continues. ![]() edit: Wandering Flatliner is pretty sweet too, I'd love to hear your stuff in high quality. They are pretty different bands. Mogwai tend to be a bit heavier and a little more melodic. I would have to say their latest is probably my favourite though. White Noise and Death Rays are about as close as they get to twinklecore.

White Noise, Death Rays, San Pedro and How To Be A Werewolf are all pretty great, by boring do you mean a lack of "in your face" crescendos?

For ages I thought my file was buggered, but it turns out CSS Logbook is actually supposed to end abruptly. I am convinced this is one of the greatest tragedies in music, but at the same time, maybe it's a really effective device for provoking emotion?
