How many of you went to the Shout it Outloud tour with RBF, Less Than Jake, Streetlight, and Against All Authority?

Bonus points if you were at the STL show!

Let me say this, that show was amazing and it convinced a few of my friends that ska is no longer a dead genre if there are still shows like this in the world.

I went to the show in New Hampshire. It was awesome.

I just checked the Bosstones myspace page and they are set to play with Zox (who?) and The Street Dogs that night. Might Joe Sirois play in two bands that night? If so, that'll be a long loving night for a drummer.

I'm also going to see The Street Dogs on December 21st. So getting to see them again so soon makes me happy.

Just got home from yesterdays Mighty Mighty BossToneS show in Providence. Best concert I have ever been to. The BossToneS are the best ska band to ever exist.

The show was also being filmed for a live dvd. Some camera guys interviewed me outside Lupos so hopefully I'll get on the dvd.

The only downside of the show was how the crowd reacted to one of the opening bands, Zox. They type of indy-ish music they played didn't fit well in with the line up (Darkbuster, Street Dogs, then indy Zox?) but they weren't bad to listen to. It just wasn't my type of music. But some people in the crowd were ruthless. This one guy behind my screamed "gently caress you!" over and over for two entire songs while flipping them off before security came over and escorted him out of the building. The lead singer got a cup of beer thrown at him too. It was really sad to see a crowd react in such a way.

Agreed on all counts. I haven't been to many concerts in the past few years, but that was easily the best I've been to in at least 7 years, and definitely the best Bosstones performance I've ever been to. They may have taken a four-year break, but they haven't missed a beat. They played for two hours straight and managed to keep the energy up the whole time.

I agree with you about Zox. I wasn't able to decide if I liked them or not, I had heard some of their stuff beforehand as well. Regardless, people acted like jerks in general towards them. As bad a decision as it was to have a band like that before a band people have waited four years to see again, they could have shown a little respect. I remember that guy you are talking about too, I assume you were right up front? His buddies were right in front of me right by the first set of steps, and as soon as he got carted off, they all ran off to get him.

What an amazing night over all though, they were really on the ball.

I was the fat kid in the black Clash tshirt. I was basically dead center for the entire show.

With the recent closing of the Avalon and Axis in Boston, I'd like to imagine that Massachusetts/Rhode Island is getting back into the swing of things. The Avalon and Axis were the two of the biggest "small" venues for concerts in the Boston area and recently they were both closed down to be combined, so now a lot of smaller venues like the Middle East, T.T the Bear's, The Paradise and Harpers Ferry are getting a lot more attention from a lot more bands. I've definitely noticed a much more frequent show schedule now without the "Big Two" than with them.

They'll be back. They are just rebuilding. I liked the avalon though. It was so convenient being basically right next to a T stop.

And don't forget The Roxy. They are getting more shows too.

How is the Roxy? I've never been there. What venues around Boston/Cambridge would it compare to?

I would compare the Roxy to The Palladium in Worcester if you take out the balcony. Or does the Roxy have a balcony? I dunno.

I've heard that rumor too. What I heard is that they will have a movable wall that they can use to cut the club in half if they are having two separate events.

I guess that could appeal to both the smaller bands with two rooms and the bigger bands with one room. I hope the nostalgia of the Axis and the Avalon doesn't make most of the city turn against the new venue. It could definitely do a lot.

I don't think bands will turn away from this venue. It's one of the biggest general admission venues around. I know Dropkick Murphys were having real problems finding places big enough to have their annual St. Patrick's Day shows that they usually have at the Avalon.

Although now that the Avalon and Axis have closed, it has forced me to check out other venues and I have really gotten to like some of them.
