The guys from the metal thread said I should talk to you guys.

I'm going to see The Dillinger Escape Plan/Poison the Well in March. Not really having listened to that much music from both bands, which records by them would you recommend to start with?

I'm looking for the name of a band, maybe one of you guys can help me.

They are a screamo band, and they are pretty awful, which is why I want to find this video. Their newest (if not only) video has them all playing in a completely white room, that's it. They have a white lead vocalist and a black scream vocalist. That's about all I can describe them with, hoping the "black screaming vocalist" will help.

Oh, and the screamo band Vanna also has a black dude in the band - don't know if he's the vocalist, but maybe?

Gah, can anyone remember someone in this thread posting a wrestling video where a Japanese punk band covered "Sugar We're Goin Down" and some other stuff? I remember checking them out on MySpace and they had a few pretty good songs. I think they were called something with "fist" or "foot"...

Was Suck Out the Poison any good? I loving loved I Am Hollywood, but I didn't bother with the new one because no one seemed to care anymore.

My first He Is Legend CD was actually Suck Out the Poison, so I prefer that one, but I Am Hollywood is still amazing. SOtP is more experimental and Southern-influenced, and Schuyler Croom's voice definitely sounds like he has had one too many cigarettes and scotch's - it's way more raw, but in a good way and sets him apart from a lot of other singers. Definitely check it out.

Hooray, I found 'em! They are called Over Arm Throw (close enough) - check 'em out, it's not that bad: http://www.myspace.com/overarmthrow

Oh, and their "Sugar We're Goin Down" cover can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJqaMdpWWbM - it's worth hearing it, if only for the cool accent.

I used to be a big fan (Spencer era, not Dallas era) but ever since their recent non-live cd, and I guess since I listened to They're Only Chasing Safety like 70 times I just grew out of it.

I swear the song sounds like one off Define the Great line, and when I first listened to that I thought I might be listening to some new Norma Jean.

I can't believe I wasted time on them for them to come up and down so fast.

What I am surprised by is how brutal their pre-Chasing Safety stuff is. It's like an entirely different band.

Am I the only one who doesn't really get Thursday? I've been trying to get into them, especially after reading some raving reviews of their newest record, but I'm listening to this stream of it and it seriously doesn't do anything for me. I think it's Geoff Rickley's voice - I dig the instrumentation, but the vocals just seem to lack passion and energy.

gently caress, have you guys listened to letlive? Their album "Fake History" is one of the best post-hardcore records I have heard in a very long time - it's like a mix of Glassjaw, Refused and At the Drive-In:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRQEz7J82ZA

I listened to the new Thursday album and yeah, it's a letdown. There is no urgency in the vocals at all, and Thursday's take on the whole "Post-rock is Screamo's retirement home" thing is bland and boring.

Vocally, maybe. It's really more of trying to straight up sound like Daryl than anything else though. The little jibberish freakout in "Muther" right before the female vocals is pretty much a straight rip from "Lovebites and Razorlines." You also set the bar impossibly high with your RIYLs there.

Haha, you fuckin' nailed it with that post-rock comment.

Just attributed the quote to a member of the SA forums - I guess some of the Garbage Day articles from Warped Tour hit a little too close to home for him.

EDIT: Also, he would like you to clarify what you meant: "If they're using "screamo" to describe this Thursday album, I remain skeptical [of the SA forums being good]."
