There was a really excellent, long, riddle/lateral thinking puzzle thread in GBS in 2008 or 2009. I can't find it, but I'd really like to read it again.

It took a chunk of googling trial and error, but it's http://shygypsy.com/farm/p.cgi - this killed productivity for me and like 4 other people at work for a good week when that thread got posted. For the record, the google image search phrase that finally tracked it down was: collaborative word association connection puzzle. EDIT: There is no way my conscious memory remembers this many answers to this game as my memory is absolute poo poo, but playing it in a binge 6 years ago has somehow trained my brain in word association. Anyone remember the thread where it was nothing but spoofs of the shooting from The OC. Gunfire followed by Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek", using scenes from movies like Robocop and Predator.

I can't find the SA thread but if it helps, it was a parody of the Dear Sister sketch on SNL which was a parody of the OC shooting scene. It started being an internet thing around March 2007 so that's probably about the time the thread stared.

Does anyone remember this user or the post which got banned/probated sometime this year? The post was trolling in a CC creative writing megathread. Written from a son's perspective, the story was about how his dad got weird after mom either deserted or died. Went on about how dad would drink too much, fondle his son and reward him for putting up with that, etc. Eventually, the son got a car, and at some point had to drive dad somewhere, I think with the son's girlfriend or buddy in the car. Anyway, they either get pulled over for something minor or they run into a checkpoint. A cop approaches the car (I think with hand on gun) and dad is burping and farting like crazy in the back seat. The story ends there, with the implication that the cop kills dad. edit: of course I find it after posting http://forums.somethingawful.com/banlist.php?userid=198708 there's the rap sheet, I didn't realize it was a repeat gimmick. Checking their post history, I learned dadlust.com exists for all your gay incestuous dadfic needs, and that guy's either a big fan or a self-promoter. e2: after checking the main post history, it's a nifty mix of weird DadFic posting with extra independent game posting. all this stuff is awkward but apparently not malicious. just a dude looking to pick up some new fans, promoting his wares on the most troll-free forums on the internet! sweart gliwere has a new favorite as of 04:21 on Aug 4, 2014 |

When I was new to the forums, I spent a lot of time reading through the SAclopedia and read a thread from someone who'd spent time in a maximum security prison after escaping previous place(s?). I tried a brief search through the goldmine but couldn't find anything resembling what I was looking for. Same with a quick poke at the current SAclopedia. I'd like to reread it and link it to a couple of other people -- can someone dig that up for me if it's still around?

If I remember, he did his time in military prisons, but his thread(s) got a lot of stories from a lot of people. See if you can dig up those threads, they are very worth reading, even if they don't contain the story or stories you are looking for. Today's front page reminded of this: A few years ago someone whipped up a graphic illustrating why they hate the "retail sucks" / "customer horror story" threads. The first panel of a cartoon was a well-dressed, helpful retail employee saying something like "Good day, madam, and welcome to our fine store! It would be my honor and privilege to serve you! How may I help you today?". The second panel was a morbidly obese woman throwing things at the employee while screaming "WHARBARGL! I'LL SUE! I DEMAND TO SEE YOUR MANAGER! JIHAD! I'LL KILL YOUR FAMILY! I'LL CALL THE OWNER! etc". Anyone?

I have this vague memory of a huge campaign to find the original plushie. It resulted in a lot of new frog art and I think someone even made a 3D reconstruction of the original photo and presented it like a short clip from a video. I think some goons actually looked into plushie manufacturers and somehow dug up the original pattern for the frog, but nothing ever came of it. Does anyone still have that pattern?
