Havin' a good time

I've got the official blued heatshield for my Mossberg and it's great. I got mine used with the 18.5" barrel for $90 for both. I've seen them for around $20-40 individually but be careful its actually a metal one and not one of those lovely plastic ones. Also, if you can find one without the screws for cheaper just write Mossberg and Santa will send you some new ones for free!

What stock did it come with? I've got a wood one that has been polished up nice with BLO and it doesn't have a gun to go with it anymore. Just needs a new recoil pad and wood screws if I'm remembering right.

Standard wood, I can take a picture if you'd like. Pretty sure it was a LEO gun since the barrel has absolutely zero wear and the blueing is perfect aside from some light surface rust.

What are you lookin at...

Holyshit that magpul stock is uuugly. Wouldnt need adjustable
comb if they didn't give it so much drop at comb to start with. Looks way more bulky and heavy than it needs to be. Trying too hard to 'look' different to a traditional stock I think.

I can see wanting to raise the comb to use a dot sight, except, gently caress dot sights on a shotgun unless you're shooting heaps of slugs

The comb height is almost identical to the original stock's comb and the only real difference in size is the extra space needed to fit the LOP adjustment system. IIRC the weight isn't bad either, I think it's around 23 ounces compared to ~20-25 ounces for some other common stocks.

Check what kind of aftermarket it has also before commiting to it over something like the 930.

Nevermind, I found this:

Some dude posted:

Here's the scoop on the "weird" loading: The bolt carrier is held back on the last round, which locks the loading gate/shell lifter into the "down" position until the carrier is returned to battery via the bolt release button, thus blocking access to the tube magazine. This is to ensure that the first round is loaded through the ejection port, directly into the chamber. This is necessary because there are only two ways to physically release subsequent rounds from the magazine onto the shell elevator:
The first is to pull the trigger. The problem with this option is that it places undue stress on the long and thin firing pin if there is not a round in the chamber. In addition, the rear of the firing pin is knob-shaped, which allows it to be retained by a solid pin that passes horizontally through the bolt carrier. Repeated dry-firing will chew this knob up because it gets rammed up against the retaining pin. If you're in a serious hurry it's ignorable – just remember that its a no-no when you're playing with the gun at home.
The second is to push in on the small button that protrudes from the very front of the trigger guard. This drops down the loading gate and then releases a shell. The button is small, so practice with it before you need it. Using the release properly will also permit you to increase the capacity of the weapon by one round if you're fairly dexterous and have some spare time. Since I'd like to keep on the good side of the Beretta folks, I'll let you figure this one out for yourself while strongly recommending that you only try it with dummy ammo!
If you simply hit the bolt release (the big button on the right-hand side of the receiver) to close on an empty chamber, load shells into the magazine, and cycle the action, you will not be ready to fire. Instead, your first trigger pull will produce a "click-thud" as the firing pin hits empty space, followed immediately by the first round hitting the front of the trigger guard assembly. Cycling the action a second time will then produce the desired result.

This is more than just annoying: if a feedway stoppage occurs, you must remember to pull the trigger to advance the next round after clearing the jam. For most of us, years of playing with a variety of semi-autos has ingrained the notion that working the action will always chamber another round. The procedure for transitioning to a slug is thus one of the following

I kinda want one for :detroit: reasons, but if I'm going to drop cash on a autoloader shotgun, I want to be able to get a longer barrel for clays too, which seem to not exist for those.

I think the plan might be to shoot it for a bit, and if I'm not 100% happy with it I'll sell it for whatever overpriced amount it's going for and buy it back it 2-3 years for half the price and with some of the problems fixed. I do not trust their engineering to do it right the first time.

Supposedly it does, and supposedly you can fit 25 total in there including the chamber. That was the first thing I looked at.

With Kel Tec I don't trust the engineering at all.... I've seen their guns do the sketchiest things in a very small sample size

That said if you dont want another gun for more "practical" purposes (Carry, sport, plinking, w/e) then keep it. THey are kinda unique

Any opinions on an old Ithaca/SKB recoil operated 12ga, (the 300)?
There is one for sale locally with a 28" barrel & mod choke, and I've been wanting to pick up something on the cheap side for the range and clay bustin.
The only info I could find online suggested that their owners tended to be pretty happy with them.

A fixed modified choke is going to hold you back shooting clays because it is too tight under most circumstances, it will work fine but I wouldn't use it with steel shot as more ranges are requiring. Just things to consider.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time shooting pump paintball when I was younger (my first job was as a ref at a paintball field so I got free access, air and paint at wholesale) and while alot of the skills don't transfer over, I've never had a problem short stroking guns. It might just be user error, but it really feels like there are a lot of good ideas here that need to be explored by non-incompetents.
