My roommate can't get on it from his computer, and neither can one of my neighbors. OK. I went into the Etsy thread altazakin linked to. Here is the relevant post: quote:Rokali says: Some people have had success by changing: preferred DNS server to 208.067.222.222 perferred DNS server to 208.067.220.220 I don't know enough about this to recommend if it's a good idea or not. Etsy obviously won't comment about changing this on people's computers because they can't provide support if it screws over someone's system.

Fantastic treasury! I wouldn't be surprised to see it on the front page. And I found a new favorite - pinkquartzminerals. So thanks!

Pink is a good friend of mine (an online friend). I actually just bought from her today: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=9298192

Sorry everyone that I havn't been very active. I've been pretty sick. But I'm back! Would you guys be interested in "Team Goon" stickers at wholesale to put on your outgoing packages?

Also the banner on the website is a X. The Goon Squad website looks awesome!

Aww, I hope you're feeling better!! I've been meaning to convo you about stickers, actually, I am trying to see if I can have my labels printed for me (instead of what I do now). It's just cost that is making it tough -- are you able to take on custom orders like my soap labels? If so I'll shoot you a convo

Sorry to hear you've been sick! I'd be interested in stickers for sure. I was just looking at another team page and they have items from every seller listed on there. The way it works is that team members submit their items for sale, one person receives the email when something sells and let's the seller know. The team keeps 30% as a commission and the rest goes back to the seller. It's a good way to generate a bit of income to purchase ads and whatnot. Anyone interested in something like that?

Welcome back Mrs. Orgasmo! I hope you're feeling better. Unfortunately since most of my shop is digital files sent by email, I'll have to pass on the stickers for now. But if you have any ideas about what I can send through email to my customers, I would be very interested. Also since I do everything with electronic files, my picture taking abilities are lacking. This has become an issue as I was contacted today about sending an image for possible inclusion in a magazine. Can someone take a look at this image and tell me if I'm going to make a fool out of myself if I submit it for publication?

Cowslips Warren posted:My only complaint with Etsy is that there is so much stuff to look at! I think I was the one that posted that mermaid necklace in that thread. I bought it from this store http://www.yipestoo.etsy.com. I'm not sure they still have the one you want though. They make a lot of their pendants out of old spoons. I need to start making stuff for my etsy store. As soon as I have some stuff up I'll post a link to it.

This is awesome! I never imagined so many goons have etsy shops. Kalista, Loop is one of my absolute favorite sellers too. She's amazing! I've been selling my handspun yarn for knitting and crochet for about a year now, but only really started stocking up in the last few months. http://www.reporebo.etsy.com Amanda posted:My shop is http://seasprout.etsy.com I buy my supplies almost exclusively on etsy these days, Amanda! So I finally got my first 'non paying' buyer I sold the item on the 30th, but they never paid, now its a few days later and they've already got negative feedback for being a non paying buyer. I'm always one to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I've sent 2 conversations now so I suppose if I get no response by tomorrow I'll go ahead and leave negative feedback. But on the plus side, I got custom order for 5 switch plates that I need to work on this weekend.

I've had some people who ordered, went out of town, and then came back and paid. If I had left a negative they might not have paid. But major congrats on your custom order!

Alright so I have a few bags up in a patterned fabric that I thought would be well liked and sellable, though it doesnt seem that way these days. So now I would like some input. Any suggestions on likable patterns or colors.

I like the clock fabric! I have noticed that the fabric style that sells the best on etsy is amy butler: http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/mainmenu.php Of course, the market is already saturated with it. But maybe her stuff will inspire you!

How well does hand-dyed yarn sell? I adore dying, and it's super easy. I really only sew or knit one of whatever idea I have, because I find it somehow more tedious than dying or spinning.

I know zero about yarn or knitting, but I do know this seller from the Etsy forums: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5130205 She does really well, she says that yarn lovers tend to be very addicted to new yarns. She gets a LOT of repeat business which helps her keep listing new items and gaining new clients.

Any suggestions on likable patterns or colors. I like the clock fabric too. And I agree that Amy Butler fabric is everywhere right now. I know you didn't specifically ask for this, but maybe including the dimensions of the bags and straps would be helpful to a potential buyer. For example, I don't own a 17" laptop so other than knowing that one dimension is at least 17", it doesn't help me gauge if the messenger bag is going to be a size I would be interested in. Pile of Kittens posted:How well does hand-dyed yarn sell? I adore dying, and it's super easy. I really only sew or knit one of whatever idea I have, because I find it somehow more tedious than dying or spinning. Many sellers seem to do very well with hand-dyed yarn. I have several yarn sellers in my favorites. I've noticed that yarns in sock weights tend to be more prevelent than other weights. Whether this is because they sell better or something else, I don't know. Since I'm still new to knitting, I don't have a whole lot of use for sock yarn yet so I peruse DK, worsted, aran and chunky mostly. There's truth to yarn addiction. I'm only 6 months into knitting and I already have a stash full of yarn purchased from both on and off Etsy.

We've been told to send an email once a week with additions to keep it organized on their end.

You're welcome RepoRebo! (I popped your treasury cherry! Hee hee!) I'm sure you will be in many more, both Goon Squad and non-Goon Squad! On a totally different note, has anyone noticed the Etsy forums have been a total shitfeast today? Several threads I've been following have been closed for personal attacks in them. It's really odd to me to have so many on one day. One thread went downhill pretty quick, recovered, then new people showed up and it slid back into the abyss.

The etsy forums depress the hell out of me. I only recently started reading them, and I can't get over how bitchy it gets in there. People who act like etsy has personally come into their home and raped their child, others getting snarky when someone with a lot of sales posts, sooo many "I haven't had a sale in the whole month I've been here, you're all mean, wahh!" threads. It's really a class-A cluster in there most of the time. That said, when I've had the stomach to weed through the crap I have found some very helpful tips.

Welcome to the jungle indeed I love to get poo poo on simply for selling a lot! Woohoo! Here is a good thread: http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5704418 I like learning other people's techniques for stuff.

Didn't you read the fine print? It most clearly says that once you get X sales (arbitrarily determined by the mob), you must slink off to the side never to sell on Etsy again. That thread was a total trainwreck. The best line I saw was from SeeJayneKnitYarns. "Gimme yarn." That sums it up for me from a buying standpoint. You have what I want and are willing to sell it to me for a fair price. Gimme. The shipping thread is pretty interesting. I got to about page 7 and decided I needed to mark it for later. I did get sidetracked by your flickr. Will mulled cider be making a return appearance later this year?
