Is there a particular day they meet at church? Do they have some kind of weekly service, or is it just a come as you please kind of thing?

There's a church here in Dallas, but I think it's pretty small. I looked it up on Google Streetview and it just looks like someone's house.

edit: also, I'm all for carpooling from Dallas to Austin on the 10th. Send me a PM.

Does anyone know how they recruit? I know they have free seminars and such where the e-meter you and whatnot, but are there other methods and can someone give me more details for the e-metering stuff?

My younger sister's friend's parents dragged her up to the church for a "free personality test". They strongly encourage current members to try and convert everyone they know, and if it doesn't work, break off contact with them.

As for e-meter stuff, check out this page.

edit: The more I think about my sister, the more pissed off I get. At the time I laughed and blew it off, but that's wrong. She's 15, and they didn't talk to my parents or anything, just took her up there. Luckily she's pretty smart, but that's out of line.

I'd give various body parts to have skill in video editing and animation right now. I can already envision the drat TV spot, with our own little animated headless Anonymous figure in his nice suit and tie, dictating in a nice voice the atrocities committed by the Co$. Think something similar to the quiet but somewhat powerful Truth commercials, or all the anti-drug ones used recently. We need a better infrastructure though if we're to actually do a TV commercial. Getting a hotline up and running for either ex-scientologists or those with questions about the Co$ itself would be something we should aim for if we're to do this. The website may get mentioned but not everyone with a TV has ready access to the internet, so all means of communication to spread the message seem necessary to me.

Somehow I have to believe the politics surrounding Anonymous are going to prevent this from ever happening. I don't think any TV station wants to align themselves with a group that's being paraded around the media as a bunch of "hackers".

Is anyone else getting really, really bad vibes from #2 regarding the recent protests? It wouldn't be below the CoS to send a few thugs out to the protests in masks like everyone else, phone the police that they're worried "Things might get violent, people on the internet said some things" to have a police presence there. Then have their masked thugs in the crowd throw rocks or other things at the police to get them arresting/teargassing everyone in sight while the perpetrators flee?

Ahhh, stop quoting this. Someone already dug a little deeper, and the guy who posted that is a stereotypical tinfoil weirdo.

edit: Everyone needs to be careful, of course. Nobody plans to do anything especially crazy or illegal, we're just handing out fliers and spreading some information. We're all lazy internet people, right? Anybody trying to get us riled up from the inside is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

As the Church previously announced, the pirated and edited excerpts of Mr. Cruise were contained in an official Church event in 2004, an event attended by 5,000 Scientologists and their guests and further available for viewing in any Church of Scientology world over. Having presented these selective and out-of-context excerpts with the intent of creating both controversy and ridicule, nevertheless resulted in people searching for and visiting Church of Scientology Web sites as evidenced by "most searched for" lists of various search engines. Those wishing to find out the Church of Scientology's views and to gain context of the video have the right to search official Church Web sites if they so desire.

Uh, didn't Anon recently leak the full, unedited video?

Regardless of what the majority of Anonymous does in the future, they've already raised a huge amount of awareness here and among the general public. gently caress, they've somehow convinced a bunch of lazy goons to put flyers up all over the place. For example: respond to everything they say with questions, like "why did they murder Lisa McPherson" or "Why did they try to infiltrate goverment". If they try to avoid the question by bulshitting you, ask again. Repeat the question many times if needed. Don't let them answer, don't go into any discussion, just calmy keep attacking with qestions like this. Make some personal attacks, but nothing that would make you arrested. Do not tell them they suck horse dicks, be more subtle, like "how such intelligent person like yourself got brainwashed so easily?" or "how can you support organisatoin that acted against your own country"?
Another thing- from those videos it seems that they get very close up to you- keep that in mind and don't get intimidated by them, just stand in place. If they get too close ask them to stop spitting in your face or something.

Just my $0.02, what do you think?

The problem is that they are brainwashed. February 10th is not about deprogramming, it's about information dissemination. Deprogramming is very difficult and should be done very carefully by professionals. Like others have said, I think it's best to ignore Scientologists in person because it will detract from the overall goal- spreading the word that Scientology is more than just a joke. You aren't going to convince a Scientologist of that, so why even acknowledge them?
