And hey if you know of any mods that can diversify the looks of your buildings point me to it. For now though I think it looks fine.

I have an insane amount of hate for all of you now. I have begun planning out my cities and debating on whether I still have my cds. I have just one question. Do you start with enough money to regionalize everything right away. Like maybe start with an industrial region in a corner by another region and then your residential/commercial region, or do you need to start with one small city earn money and then regionalize?

Persh posted:Err, where do you save the files it comes with? Click and save the .bmp file and then right click and save as the .jpg file. Put both of them in a new folder in your My Documents/SimCity4/Regions folder. Then enter the game, click on load region and select the .bmp file that you saved. After that you will see a flat map with the city grids in the region. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R and a box will pop up asking you to select file. Select the .jpg file that you have saved and click ok, then go make tea and wait for the region to be created. (I've been waiting for 10 minutes now).

Persh posted:Err, where do you save the files it comes with? There a good tutorial on how to use custom regions like this here: http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/me...5&enterthread=y But if you don't want to read it all I'll summarize: Create a new region in SC4 then alt+tab out of it Go to my documents/simcity4/regions and find the folder with the same name as the region you just created copy the config.bmp file and the grayscale image into that folder go back into SC4 and load a different region now load your new region again and hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R navigate back to your region folder and select the grayscale image Your new region will now generate, this can take about 5 minutes for a small region and up to three or four hours for some of the huge regions(think 400 large cities)

Alternatively, you can use one of the external programs to make your region. This took all of five minutes including downloading the program itself: using this region (Caveat: you get to open every city if you don't want a radioactive green region view)

So here's what I have so far of my flat region. Excuse my terrible city names. I tried to name them descriptively but eventually I fell back into my old SC2K habit of naming cities after food. v:)v![]() Potatoes is coming along really nicely. I'm a few cities away from the biggest square on the map, which will be called Enormo and hopefully will be the best city I've ever made. I have screenshots of Potatoes if anyone wants to see, but they're not too interesting. Oh and I solved the jobless people problem too, the no job indicators just kind of went away after a while.

Man i'm having some wierd glitches in my cities. I have main residential city hooked up to a couple industrial sectors with avenues and passenger rail. For some reason my commutes times keep randomly shooting up and I get the NO JOB zots. Unrealated by my medium density residential keeps throwing up wave after wave of the exact same apartment buildings. Its like loving bauhaus in that neighborhood.

I suck at making aesthetically pleasing cities so I make ones like this: Only 370k people but it's got a stable budget if you don't count having to use coal power plants. Also the traffic is horrible despite a huge subway and bus system.

Do they not realize that their mod being included in such a pack makes it reach a far larger audience than it would ever otherwise see? Or do they just not care? Oh god, you should see the little monsters in the Fire Pro Wrestling community. Fire Pro Wrestling is a little 2d sprite based Japanese pro wrestling game, and it has 500 slots for created wrestlers. It's a PS2 game, and it's just a fun little time killer with like a million options. Some guys will work together to put a pack of created wrestlers for WWE, some guys will work on a TNA pack, and old school WCW pack, etc.. If anybody has the audiacity to combine a bunch of packs together, these guys go absolutely loving batshit insane. They'll cry, whine, bitch, stomp their feet, track people to other communities and out them, etc.. and this is even if they're fully credited for their creations. For some reason nerds go absolutely apeshit when people distribute their mods for many many games.

Large, majestic cliffs look very constricting and feel slightly intimidating, especially when you're starting a new region, but trying to work around the limitations of terrain can produce some fairly nice results: The smaller ones'll never be profitable, but I can't say I care.

Two quick questions about the megapack (thnaks so much for it - loving dependencies nightmares). 1) I've the UK version of the game and play with traffic on the left-hand side. Do I need to do anything other than put the ...\z_Left Hand Plugin\NetworkAddonMod_LEFT_HAND_VERSIONS_ONLY_Required_Additional_Plugin.dat folder into the NAM folder? Or is it trickier than that? 2) With the new bus stops, I definitely don't want to use them 'on' the road tiles, since it fucks up the simulator so badly. Can I just place them on the side of the road and they'll behave? Or should I take out that whole folder and stick with the vanilla ones?
