Hey, all right! You finally got the garage you deserve. I'm guessing the forklift didn't get to come, though.

Sounds pretty good, honestly. I'm constantly impressed by this little 323. I've caught myself noticing them on the road now, even the weird lumpy "shelf" ones.

I kinda like the bumper you've already got more than the three-hole one, but it is your car after all. Maybe it will look better after the paintjob. Nice spoilers, though. I can't wait to see it turbocharged.

Good choice, and a nice example. You should keep the silver/red hackjob style and build a rat-rod MR2 like the Bucket Golf. Get some plastic zip ties...

I didn't realize the MR2 tranny was so small. Are you going to resurface the flywheel yourself or just send it out?

I see that the nice new weather has resulted in a productivity increase, as it does in all Canadians. I've been in and out of the garage for the last two weekends working on fixing my cracked windshield washer reservoir (which GM moulded and friction-fitted into the intake tube and bolted into the intake condensation tank with a melted rubber o-ring ) and Canuckistani Tire and the local pick & pull were just packed today with guys looking for parts. That mitre saw looks great. My dad always swears at his old 1970s mitre box so maybe it's an idea for a fathers' day present. What model is it?

My buddy in high school got a pristine silver Delta 88 from his grandmother. I have many fond memories of tooling around in the back of that gigantic land yacht. From the way you were stacking stuff on it I figured it was beat to poo poo, but I guess the tarp is pretty thick or the paint is tough as hell.

Sock is a busy guy. That GTX is going to be a monster when it's done. I like how they had to label the engine overheating icon with "HEAT." It's almost so simple, people will misinterpret it as part of the climate control system.CharlesM posted:I forgot, how'd you end up with a U.S. gauge cluster? Also, that replacement only goes up to 180! My Cavalier's speedo goes up to 220 kph but it's electronically limited to 108mph/173kph along with a lot of GMs of the time (their OEM tires aren't rated for more, and apparently consumers should not be trusted to change out their stock tires for V-rated ones before trying to do a buck eighty in a four-banger econobox).

Looking good; the first image made me depressed since I just had a really tiny snowstorm blow through. It's gonna be fun getting home from work with every Range Rover for miles trying to lock up its brakes while pulling a 180. It's supposed to get up to 18'C tomorrow, though, so Nice Grassroots Motorsports sticker - the next issue will have an article about fiberglass bodies! No longer will you have to put up with rust but instead an itchy feeling that won't go away.

Hopefully when it's calmed down a bit you can get another Subie, or even get this one back when Sockington discovers there aren't enough problems with it to keep him occupied and kicks it outside in a rage before taking an angle grinder to a passing Camry.

If you're already screwing around with the control arms, you might as well add an anti-lift kit to move the lower mounting points for better cornering. WRX control arms should be compatible - 06 WRX control arms are aluminum, but they went back to steel in 07.

How many owners has this car had before 8ender? I'm kind of surprised this EJ sludged so badly especially considering what he says about the previous oil changes. Could it have sprung an internal coolant leak from the head gasket problems early on in its life and just wasn't obvious about it for 200k km? How did it get transported from 8ender to you? It's like an engine postmortem. What stories could you tell, little Subaru? I bet Blackstone's UOA report is just "AAAAAAAAAAAAA."

Toyota wheels with bad curb rash. I'm guessing that second one was abused pretty badly, probably starved of oil. Rod knock is really weird in these 02s. I haven't seen a similar problem in 03s, even though they supposedly had the same head gasket issues. Maybe something to do with the first generation of the EJ25 in the Imprezas? Did it happen in the Foresters too?

You seem to already have gauges, but if I were you, I'd get some of those fairly classy white-faced "Pro-Comp" gauges with the thick red needle. They look like throwbacks from drag-strip Camaros but they look really good in 80s Japanese cars if you get them in the smaller size.

That Mike Holmes show where he goes around inspecting homes for people (usually in ON) almost always has weeping tile problems leading to weird temperature differentials or mould problems inside the house. Maybe quickly blast the remaining walls with an infrared thermometer to see if you can figure out if that's hosed anything up in the walls, unless you don't have a basement (instead just a crawlspace). Beats me how people gently caress up a weeping tile install. It's not rocket science, assholes. There might be a class action going on against your builder for doing so, too - so check to see if you can get in on that.

Hey, gold-wheeled wagon buddy. 8ender, why don't you just cycle a hit or two of CLR through the dishwasher and sell it on? If you leave it waiting for as long as you did this bugeye it'd probably clump right up and turn into another fourteen-hour-oil-change Benny Hill video. I'm curious how the wagon control arms and axles work. What are the downsides? If there aren't any downsides, I'm wondering why Subaru kept using the GC front axles and control arms on the wagon and jacked up the track for the sedan.

Did you swing the GC STI control arms off NASIOC? I've had not a huge amount of luck sourcing them locally, as my Japanese importer will close shop at the end of the month. I think Touge Tuning has a few aftermarket "tube frame" subframes that are basically drop in and maintain your factory jacking points, but I'm not sure how sane they are for street use, or how appropriate they are for a TS. They ship out of Mississauga so you could probably phone them and ask in person without having to incur long distance charges. I'm kind of surprised how much cars rust in Ontario. I guess the increased humidity must be significant; here in AB we don't really have horrible rust problems because it's too cold for us to use traditional road salt (we have to use a custom chemical salt with some other bullshit mixed in, plus tons of gravel). We do buy a lot of windshields, though. Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 16:38 on Oct 25, 2010 |

Would you be interested in a set of Epic Engineering lowering springs? I have them on my 06 wagon and I'm getting rid of them for Racecomp Engineering wagon springs. They should give you about a 24mm drop and a little rear end sagging which you can clean up with a spacer. You might have to wait a few weeks to a month for them as I don't yet have the struts for the new springs built. I'd offer up my stock springs, but you never know if I'll have to restore the car to its absolutely stock ride height - I think that even the burly RCE springs give it a little drop which might still get the car to scrape. I think I have some other crap lying around, like a V-Limited lip which would be absurdly expensive to ship. Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 20:23 on Oct 26, 2010 |
