Week 36 weigh in, dropped a lb to put me under 325 (324.8), which brings me to my short term goal and 82.2 lbs lost. I will update with some pictures later today. Beard stays for now since it's so damned cold out. I set two short term goals, 307 and under 300. 307 is the 100lbs lost mark so I'm aiming for that first.

Congrats. Wouldn't you have to aim for 307 first? It isn't like you can hit 300 and then decide it is time to get below 307

Just had a great gym session. This might help some other people having issues with their deadlift. I was apparently doing the hook grip incorrectly so my grip was your basic overhand grip. I switched to mixed grip and was easily able to get up another 5 lbs, now at 330lb deadlift. I tried hook grip the correct way but was more comfortable with mixed. I just need to figure out my feet position. I have my feet inside my shoulders. Also, went up on squats, tried to go up to 220 on bench, but failed in the second set and dropped back down to 215 and did it fine. Wrists don't feel as strained with the 215 as they did last time. Going to try to put up 215 again on Friday, then next week shoot for 220 again, which is exciting because I really want to be benching 4 plates! I then went and was able to do 10 minutes of cardio without collapsing. I felt like puking afterwards, but I am going to give cardio a try on non lifting days starting tomorrow. I refuse to let Thanksgiving weak mean no weight loss. REFUSE. I know I don't normally type this much, must be endorphins or something. (Also, I am thinking of shaving the sides off of the beard and going with the Viking goatee). Uziel fucked around with this message at Nov 25, 2008 around 00:29 |

Week 37 weigh in. Lost 2lbs on Thanksgiving week and my lifts continue to go up! I'm now at 322.8 and have lost 84.2 lbs. Some other progress: I was taking two different pills for blood pressure. Went to the doctor's on Tuesday, and my blood pressure wsa 118/64, so the doctor dropped me to one pill, and said that with taking only one pill and my blood pressure stays good, she will drop me off of medicine in 3 months. Also, I started slowly getting into cardio on my off days, and I'm going to try to be in the gym 7 days a week if possible. On that note, heading there now. Careful about seven days a week, you can easily burn yourself out. Five or six would be more than enough. If you do go seven, make sure one or two of those is an "easy" day--just light, slow cardio, stretching and/or light yoga, walking, etc. I sympathize with wanting to go non-stop, but you'll overtrain that way. Rest is as important, if not more, for building fitness.

Week 38 weigh in, down 3lbs! That's 87.2lbs lost, bringing me to 319.8. This week, I was in the gym every single day. My bench has stalled, but my deadlift continues to go up. My current lifts: Squat: 255x5x3 Bench: 215x5x3 M. Press: 130x5x3 Deadlift: 340x5 B.Row: 180x5x3 My cardio has improved, I can stay on the elliptical for 35 minutes without falling over dead. I am starting to get addicted to exercise, like right now its 8am on a Saturday and I can't help but think, I need to get to the gym ASAP. Oh, and I convinced my wife to cook fish for me, so I had some cod for dinner last night, and it was delicious.

Normally, I dread squats, but today I put on some metal and went to work. Squats: 260x5x3 Bench: 215x5x3, failed on the last rep of the last set Deadlift: 345x5 Did some cardio afterwards as well. I think the cardio is helping the flexability of my giant hamhocks.
