It looks like the stock is designed to block the gasses escaping the cylinder gap. Don't know how well it works, but it should prevent that in theory.

I looked into this semi-seriously when I first saw the wood-stocked version of the MTS-255 awhile back. IIRC importing Russian handguns is right out, rifles are limited to a list of specific models (why we can't import SVT-40's anymore, they're not on the list) and any shotguns are ok as long as they meet 922(r).

Huh. So new question: Why hasn't anyone imported that yet? It wouldn't be as big a market as saigas, but it seems like they would sell decently. There isn't really anything else in that niche, and if you can get past the revolver trigger, it is probably great.
