Someone posted a newspaper photo a while ago of a cop in Europe with a Marlin .45-70 sporting a suppressor & red dot, ostensibly used for dangerous animal control. Needless to say it was quite fantastic.

The ID cards with RFID I have say I shouldn't keep them in a wallet as it might damage the antenna. Oh poo poo they want it out where it can be easily scanned.

I bought one of those steel weave RFID-proof wallets because it looks cool. My apartment uses RFID keycards. I keep the card in my wallet. The card works without taking it out of the wallet. Should have gone with the brass weave.

My wallet is made out of carbon fiber sailcloth. At one point, it was part of a sailboat sail.

Wait, so you're saying those wallets that they issue with passports to block the RFID chip from people in the airport with hand-scanners don't work? Or do you have to clip it to yourself to ground it or something? And I remembered reading about Richard Stallman using tinfoil to cover an RFID-chipped security card at some event or another. Was that just symbolic, or what?

US Passport cards ship in a foil lined sheath. What if they don't do anything?
|
| # ? May 17, 2011 23:27 |

I'm a little rusty on electromagnetic radiation but I believe foil is much more effective at blocking it than woven metal fiber is. Neither would need to be grounded but they would work better if they were.
