I decided something along the lines of "mental gymnastics" would have been more precisely what I meant. Then I decided I had put too much mental effort into a post on the internet and that no one would probably notice anyway. I guess I was wrong. infrared35 posted:The rule of thumb for 5.56mm effectiveness is generally considered to be a velocity of greater than 2700 feet per second when it hits the target. Below that, the bullet may yaw, but the force isn't great enough to cause the bullet to break apart at the cannelure, at least not with enough energy to cause drastic fragmentation. That drastic fragmentation is what makes the bullet "effective." cat with hands posted:not links and stats This is what you should have posted first. Thanks Infrared.

Quantum Koala posted:Question: Are Americans allowed to have bipods on pistols or is it just forgrips that are "NFA"? Bipods are ok but forgrips are not. If you have a forgrip on a pistol length weapon it turns it into an AOW, which would require a tax stamp. And I know the grippod in that picture is in bipod mode, but I wouldn't want to try to explain that to an ATF ninja.

Flanker posted:I handled a FAB grip that splits into a bipod. I found it 1000x more solid than the grippod. Guy had it on his M1A clone, he loved it. He locked the legs out, and stood on his rifle. He swore by it but I haven't ran one myself. But if you NEED a hybrid grip bipod, I'd go for the FAB. That is cool.

You can aim a bow and be reasonably sure where the shot will impact, and most hunting bows have some serious power behind them. It's not unreasonable to expect a clean, relatively quick kill with a bow. Can you not read? He is using spears because it is more efficient then going after hogs with rifles because gunfire spooks 'em. And then he gets use out of the pig because there is less destroyed meat.
