The benefits of doing that, or just canting the shotgun and looking down your weapon are debatable. It’s kind of like slapping the side of your receiver to release the bolt on a fresh mag for an AR platform. All that "gross motor skill combat stress" crap, -personally I'd never do that because one, I'm a lefty so it doesn’t work out for me so well, and secondly I've never been so antsy in my pantsy to not be able to simply extend my trigger finger and press the bolt release (I guess a minor benefit of being a lefty)

These are just some of the many tools at your disposal when being all HSLD 'n poo poo and not to be taken as THE ONE TRUE TACTICAL.
