It's a work in progress. 1977 Honda CB750K It's got Keihin CR carbs, a Yamiya 4-1, and a Hondaman transistorized ignition at the moment. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the reason why I'm not riding it... The tappet adjuster nut is still on the loose somewhere in the valvetrain. I'll be pulling the motor soon and doing a lot of work to the bike. If you care to keep up with the progress you can check my blog. blog url changed GnarlyCharlie4u fucked around with this message at 21:21 on May 24, 2011 |

It's in great condition, not a spot of rust anywhere, just needs new rubber bits, a cleaning, a battery that's charged and someone to kick it. hopefully she doesn't flip it first. that's awesome!! I've been looking for one to teach my clam to ride as well. I might wind up buying a rusted out ct-70 and putting a motor and suspension from a 125 on it though.

House Party 4 posted:I can finally join the club. Picked it up today! My first bike! I have a free sidecover for you if you want it. same color and in great shape. I stepped on it last night and bent a tab. It took all my self control to not shoot it with my glock then smash it with a pipewrench. it's off of a 750 though Edit 8/16 Joey's bike is almost done! finally got that farking headlight issue sorted out. A little bit of the magic smoke escaped from the wiring harness when I accidentally dropped a wrench against the starter solenoid and regulator. whooops! Turns out it was a combination of things; The high beam switch was shot so I fixed the switch and cleaned the contacts. (had paint on it ???) The frame ground that runs to the headlight was severed. The fuse box was having some problems with resistance so I cleaned it up and reshaped the tabs. I also had some issues with the dummy lights that took me a while to sort out (most of it related to finding lightbulbs). Good ol' rates nest. The victorious moment when I finally figured out what was going on. That little light literally came on when I tried another handlebar switch. I'm not so sure I'd have been ready for bikes any earlier than now. Besides the fact there would be no way for me to defend my choice against my parents, I also don't think I would have survived. Not because I'd ride like an asshat. Moreover because NOVA drivers are absolutely horrible and seem to think you get bonus points for making a two-wheeled pancake. http://gnarlywrench.blogspot.com/

Purgey posted:Oh man, nice bike! I love me some daytona full fairings. Check this M3 CR750 http://www.m3racing.com/garagesale/factory_750.html I had plans to build a CR750, a true formula racer. Full daytona fairings +4 (1mm overbore) pistons, 12.5:1 comp aggressive port and mirror polish on head kibblewhite valves/seats/springs, titanium retainers CR31 carbs (I have CR29 but they won't cut it with the head work) Carillo rods (if regulations allow) lightened, bungs welded, and balanced crank, lightened rotor I haven't decided on cam yet: probably start with a webcam 63a and wind up with a custom grind. All of the necessary little things like: heavy duty studs, cam chain and tensioner primary chains and roller/tensioner. Considering a custom follower to prevent lashing during my terrible downshifts. Drilling and tapping oil passages. Shot peened, hardened and anti-friction coated rocker arms. The same coating applied to the rocker arm shafts and pistons. I haven't decided what to do about the cam towers yet. Maybe brace them with some strategic bolts through the valve cover. That's just the engine. That doesn't even begin to touch the custom 37mm GL1000 suspension I'd be building, fairings, tank, dresda boxed swingarm... ...oh look at me I'm rambling again. It turns out that the cost of parts alone for the motor was well north of $5000. Then I'd have to pay for machine work, and there's having the engine rebuilt probably every 3 races. At least I know I'll have something to look forward to when I hit my midlife crisis.
