. . . Bitch.

Creating square shapes is actually easy, you're just overthinking it. All you need to do is make the 6 sides out single crochet panels and then stitch them together into your 3-dimensional shape. An example is here, in this gingerbread house pattern (which I got about 75% of the way through making before the holidays got too hectic for me) http://michaels.com/Ho-Ho-Celebrati...ecrafts-holiday

I've recently rediscovered the joy of crochet and wanted to share.

I think this might be appropriate too as I think the TARDIS is a square amigurumi. I wasn't too pleased at how it came out following the pattern, so added extra stitching along the edges to try and give them definition. Much easier to do as Marchegiana has suggested.

The Pattern came from here - http://pixelatedmushroom.blogspot.c...t-patterns.html

I made a robot once by crocheting a flat rectangle for the top of his head and then working down in rounds. It makes a cuboid with softer edges, but there's no sewing.

This is the only pattern I've personally come across that has the cube part done in rounds. I haven't made it but it looks promising.

A while back someone posted some awesome StarCraft crochet, but I cannot for the life of me find the post or any kind of pattern on Google. Has anyone here seen any patterns like that, or was it something that a good just whipped up? (drat talented goons...)

I've made a bunch of StarCraft stuff, but I don't know if it's what you're referring to. You can see some of it at the following links:

Bleh, I was hoping you liked the scarves/hats, because I could probably draw up charts for those (or maybe find the old ones). I don't know how to make patterns, so I don't really have any for the plushies. I'll see if I can figure something out that you'll be able to make sense of (maybe watch some youtube videos and learn some terms). How soon do you need to have these ready?

I like the zerg scarf. And the zerg. I think my husband needs me to make something like that for him for our anniversary this June.

If you don't have a pattern, don't sweat it.
The photos are great. I can figure something out based on those, and it'll give me practice with making different shapes. The internet has some charts kicking around for the pattern on the scarf, which gave me a good idea as well. Thanks!

I crocheted a couple of things the past week so I thought I would post some pictures!

Here's a crocheted balloon puppy:

It is a little floppier than it is supposed to be so it cannot stand up, but I will settle for a play bowing balloon puppy! Its my first attempt at any sort of 3D crocheting

And then here is my second attempt!

I am excited because I used to be so intimidated by these types of projects, but I think I have gotten over it

I used this pattern for the seat cover: http://www.wardi.dk/2009/04/crochet...er-pattern.html Instead of elastic or a crocheted chain like the pattern suggests, I used ribbon and it worked perfectly. It was super easy to follow (I'm generally bad at reading patterns) and only took me a couple hours to do.

I might keep going and do things like this to it: http://greedyforcolour.blogspot.com...01/my-bike.html

Man, that would have been perfect! I already gave the dinosaur away though I will definitely use that mini top hat for something!

I have been averaging a project a day. Two days ago I made a bunny and yesterday I made one and a half brain slugs. Today I guess I'll finish up the second brain slug and try to find a new pattern to tackle.

Here's my bunny! I know he has no tail. I will probably add one today.

And the first brain slug.

Once I am good enough, I am going to try to crochet a bunch of things and sell them and some percentage of the profit will go to the local animal shelter I am so excited. Anyone here sell their projects? How do you determine how much to charge? Also, how do you decide on an etsy shop name? I am so stumped on that one.

I don't have a pattern, but I would think you could just ask for the measurements, then use a pattern for mittens.

Seconding this. My GYN's office has oven mitts on their stirrups. I'd guess you could use any similar sized pattern and just omit the thumb.

Cats do not abide by the laws of nature, alright? You don't know shit about cats.

Hell, you could even just do something in the round, like amigurumi but more loosely so it has a bit of give. My GYN's office has always used old sports socks; it doesn't necessarily have to be something super intricate.

If you've never done an amigurumi-style pattern, it'd be something like:

1- in a magic adjustable ring, 6 sc (or ch2 and do 6 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook if that's more your thing)
2- 2sc in each st around (12sc)
3- *sc, then 2sc in next st, repeat from * around (18sc)
4- *2sc, then 2sc in next st, repeat from * around (24sc)
5- *3sc, then 2sc in next st, repeat from * around (30sc)

and so on, adding in one more sc each round. Once you get it to the width you want, stop adding increases and just sc around and around until it's as long as you need it to be.

BAM. Instant easy stirrup cover!

For the GYN office you should make some of those uteruses people have been sending senators and representatives. I recently found a doctor who will take my case on, I kind of want to make him one as a thank you gift. The patterns are on governmentfreevjj.com. Those patterns are why I got into crochet (and because my step-mom does).

To help out and be useful, this week there is a coupon online for 25% ALL YARN at Michael's. Unless they changed their sale already but it's worth it to check.

It's actually 20% off all yarn (regular and sale, but nothing yarn is on sale I'm pretty sure) and it starts this Sunday the 20th through Saturday the 26th. I am entirely too familiar with Michaels sales.

We must have had different coupons. The ones I printed Monday on their site were 25% off all yarn, including sale items. It sucked because Michael's closed randomly last week without telling anyone so I had to go to AC Moore I still have my 25% ones sitting on the counter sadly.

I've been hookin' since last year, and I've made a few things. I am currently working on making a large granny-square afghan (unicorn blanket), using 'monet' red heart yarn. I plan on stitching on a golden border, and adding stars, and clouds to finish.

Has anyone here made the Ashlar Cardigan? http://www.classiceliteyarns.com/We.../64/Issue64.php

I'm having trouble with the stitch pattern on my gauge swatch.

quote:

Cluster Stitch Pattern: (multiple of 3 ch + 2)
(also, see chart on page 2)
Ch a multiple of 3 + 2.
Row 1: Dc in third ch from hook (counts as a
dc2tog), *ch 2, dc2tog over next 3 ch (skip
middle ch); rep from * across to last 2 dc, ch
2, dc2tog in last 2 ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first ch-2 sp (counts as
dc2tog), *ch 2, dc2tog in same ch-2 sp and
next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, ch 2, dc2tog
in last ch-2 sp and tch, turn.

So, I get row one down no problem, but I just can't get row 2 to work without severe cupping/warping/losing stitch count.

On row 2 are you pulling the yarn through the spaces between row 1 dc stitches? I can't think of anything else that would cause warping.

You're skipping spaces from row 1. Each dc2tog from row 2 should go over a dc2tog from row 1.

Right, visually, I can see that. But following the pattern as I can figure it out, I don't see that. Which probably doesn't make sense.

I can do this without the pattern, I'm just having trouble translating the pattern into this:
