I was hoping it would involve him clapping, and he stabs his good hand, requiring it to be immobilized and/or replaced with another prosthetic.

So what's the story behind the "Save Our Bluths" episode? Was it produced while they were talking about/shortly after canceling the show or something? Was the ending actually done live? I must've stopped watching the original run at the end of season two or early season 3 cause I haven't remembered much of anything from the last few episodes.

With the exception of the "live" ending, pretty much, I think. It really was supposed to be one giant metaphor for the cancellation. Lines like the "housewives and waiters" one were supposed to refer to "Despeate Housewives" and (I think) "Kitchen Confidential" (which was itself cancelled almost immediately); and about being "relatable," which was supposedly scaring people away from watching. And the "TONIGHT... an Arrested Development you can't miss...""...and one of these people will die!" was a stab at those viewer-grabbing Fox promos. Oh, and the "3D". There's a fair amount in that episode.

"So what's going on with the fundraiser?" "I don't think the Home Builders' Organization is going to be supporting us." "Yeah, the HBO is not gonna want us. What do we do now?" "Well, I think it's Showtime. I think we have to have a show during dinner." Tons of stuff like this in that episode.

One of the best (non-cancellation related) jokes in that episode is when Buster says, "Sister's my new mother, Mother. And is it just me or is she looking hotter?" George gets this absolutely disgusted, "Wait, what did he just say?" look on his face before they cut back to Buster and Lucille yelling at each other.

I think he even did a commercial for Hulu and, at one point, yelled "C'MON!" It seemed weird to me. Aren't the new AD episodes going to be released on Netflix? Is that considered a competitor to Hulu?

I just uploaded this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk9oDgdFoZY It's some dailies from episode 103, Bringing up Buster. I love the (more or less) subtle variations between takes by David Cross. (Note that this is basically the same scene over and over again, so it might be a bit boring.) Edit: Wow, that was fast. Just got an email saying that it got blocked because of content belonging to Fox. Edit 2: If there's interest I could upload the clip somewhere else, but not sure where it would last though. Any suggestions? Note that this is not commercially available anywhere. Main Twark fucked around with this message at Mar 25, 2012 around 10:21 |

I was recently talking with a friend about hoping to see this series finally come out on BD when I realized that there's a pretty good chance we'll see it next year regardless of the movie stuff because it'll be the 10th anniversary of the show. And then I realized that it's almost been 10 years since the show started. That just blows my mind for some reason. It doesn't feel that long at all.

On the latest WTF Michael Cera said that the series was shooting "hopefully this summer." He didn't really seem to know for sure if that was the plan or not, but hey it's more than we've heard otherwise. He also hadn't seen the scripts, but still seemed confident that it was going to lead into the film.

It's been a while since I've seen AD, but didn't his story arc end with him signing up to join the Army? So they could easily write him off if they wanted to. Or they could bring him back as a veteran of some sort.

I'd rather they just tell the story that's best and not try to shoehorn in every character. Yes, he's GOB's son but that doesn't mean he actually has to be shown within whatever story they're trying to tell.
