Recent burst of activity in the thread made me think there was movie news. Not the case so I'll just add to this discussion: in that "girlfriends that are scared away by the Bluths" montage, the other two girls are named Barbara and Dee. The same name as the strippers in the banana stand competition: I give you Barbara..and Deeeeeeeeee. Don't worry these young beauties have been nowhere near the bananas.

Star War Sex Parrot posted:Also this. If you notice a connection in the show, chances are it's on purpose. The writers weren't that lazy. Yes. Also, characters being unable to differentiate Hispanic people, or otherwise humorously swapping/confusing identities of them, is a recurrent trope. Michael accidentally picked up some woman thinking it was Lupe, Lindsay thinks Michael likes Lupe instead of Marta at first, Lucille and Lindsay use Hispanic surrogates for themselves at rehab. And, Buster is so unable to differentiate Hispanic people, he thinks he is in Mexico and doesn't recognize Lupe or any of the other laborers from Balboa Towers. Lucille thinking Michael's Latina date is a housekeeper is funny, but having it be Marta, and having the actress be different, is both meta and referential. AD loves that poo poo. It was on purpose. So there is a torrent floating around that has 2 gigs of raw unedited footage from the show. Somebody discovered 7 discs of dailies in a bargain bin at a used video store in Hollywood.

I never noticed Franklin was wearing a t-shirt that said, "George Bush doesn't care about black puppets." Related to possible coincidences, Michael's song in the Captain Hook trial is exactly the same thing he did to Maggie Lizer during a trial. "You're a crook Captain Hook. Judge won't you throw the book, at the pirate!" Plus, Hook's hand falls off in the same manner Buster's does in "Fakin' It".

Empire online are doing a webchat with Mitch Hurwitz and Will Arnett about Arrested Development right this moment. It's just started so get there quick! http://www.empireonline.com/chat/ Edit: It's over now, so I thought I'd update this post with some of the more interesting answers they gave. On the subject of AD coming out on BlueRay: Mitch Hurwitz posted:You will most likely see a Blu-ray of Arrested Development before we see any profit from Arrested Development. I don't know - we're not plugged into that. But what would you see on a Blu-ray? The strapline on Will's wig. And the puppeteers who controlled Jessica Walters. On the subject of when the AD movie is coming: Mitch Hurwitz posted:I guess I should answer it seriously. I'm always reticent to talk about the movie, because I don't want to tease the fans. Because we're doing it for the fans, and ourselves of course. But it's taken a while to get the elements together. And they're all together now, except the script, the plot and the shooting for the movie. But our hope is this year. Seriously....I am in the process with my Quondam partner Jim Vallely - with whom, along with Will, we wrote the series Running Wilde - of writing the movie. I should also add that I don't know what "Quondam" means...I think it means sometimes. A funny question about whether Carl Weathers took advantage of the catering services on set led to this: Mitch Hurwitz posted:I will answer that seriously. Carl Weathers is the guy who came up with the idea that his character is cheap. Which was very unexpected. It was written to just be a Rocky joke. He was going to be Tobias' acting teacher but they were just going to run down the beach and leap in the water like Rocky 2. On the subject of the funniest moment making the show: Will Arnett posted:BUt there's a scene, I've said this before but it bears retyping. There's a scene in season two, near the end, where the family has an intervention with Lucille, and then they all just end up having this huge party. In that scene, because it was late at night and at the end of a logn work week at the end of the season, adn we'd all just experienced some big negative event that will go unmentioned, everybody was just so punch-drunk. I remember squatting on the dining room table in Lucille's apartment, and Tony Hale was at the piano with a hook on his hand, and David had just reappeared from his trailer, where unbeknownst to us he had stripped down to only his jean shorts. I remember looking over at Tony hammering away at the keys with this insane crazy-crown look on his face, and David dancing next to the piano in his jean shorts. It was so absurd, that I had tears streaming down my face. it's the hardest I have ever laughed in my entire life, and it was caught on film. And to show how even the most ridiculous theories about hidden jokes and references might have some merit, somebody asked: Bob Loblaw posted:When George Michael is recording the light-saber video, there's a small can of sealant at the edge of the shot with the word 'seal' on it. When he end up hurting himself, he exlaims "ow, my hand!" - deliberate, or just a coincidence? (It seems very hard-to-catch, even for an AD joke) To which Mitch Hurwitz replied: Mitch Hurwitz posted:Deliberate, believe it or not. One of the few things that I knew we were going to get to was Buster losing his hand, so I was always trying to get foreshadowing in. Throwing a prop onto something etc. The Aguamoose fucked around with this message at Feb 4, 2011 around 14:36 |
