Jesus, this is fantastic. Now I'm just sad I don't have the chance to do this with every show and movie ever. Watching this then watching the scenes from the actual episode is a really fascinating look at how they put the show together and why it works. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

For people who do have viewed the footage, is it worth seeing?

I mean, it really is just take after take of the actors doing the same scenes from different angles. You maybe hear some off camera direction and see some slight improvisation, but the most interesting part is just seeing the slight variations, watching all the directions the scene could have gone, then watching the finished cut. It would probably be pretty boring for someone not interested in how things are shot and edited.

I'm guessing it's a song made just for the show and isn't available in-full anywhere, but does anyone know anything about the song that plays during the series epilogue? The lyrics are something along the lines of "And what could be better / let's stay here forever." The only real reference that I can find to it is other AD fans asking about it. It's just so darn catchy!

Do Oscar and Michael have their own versions?

An interview with Hurwitz said that had the show gone on, there would be a scene where everyone was doing one. I really wish I could have seen Michael's because he's just sooo sure he knows what a chicken looks and sounds like.

But perhaps Biscuit McClure is right, they always need someone to be mocking. I propose Sitwell.

I would guffaw, but half the audience would be confused, and the other half would only laugh because it's Conan doing something silly. Nobody watched the show to begin with, and those who probably don't remember specific jokes on the whole.

It's only us (the best people) who've watched the show multiple times who would get it

That aside, I think my favorite has to be:

Me and a couple friends get a lot of mileage out of that one.

I prefer the:

I think something important that hasn't been asked is this: How much of the original writing team is going to be back, or is it just Hurwitz writing these new episodes? If it is just Hurwitz, how much did the writer's room environment contribute to the genius of the show versus how much of it was Hurwitz alone?

I ask this because all of Hurwitz's post-AD efforts have had mixed reviews at best. If he just happened to hit magic with a great group of writers the first time around, I'm inclined to think that the writer's room is more important than just Hurwitz himself.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is: even if this actually does happen, there may be a possibility that it comes back like Family Guy or the Futurama movies.

So it's gonna come back just as funny as it was before? That's great!

Futurama eventually upped their game with the new season and returned to status-quo, but the trend seems to be that with shows that come back and don't have the full writing staff, it either takes a little time to catch up (Futurama), the show is written differently (as in Ren & Stimpy or Family Guy, even if you think they're just as funny as pre-cancelation the structure changed), or just isn't very good (X-Files newer movie). Of course, opinions vary on all of them, but denying that there's an overall trend is a little silly.

Hell, I can't even think of anything that's come back with the full writing staff and immediately was as good - I'm sure there are examples out there, but they're not springing to mind for me.

I luckily didn't fast forward, but it took me until the Maggie Lizer episode to realize that they were actually real

But it was a stroke of genius for them to put the reveal in the Next Time. Previously I'd thought the joke was that they weren't actually true both in that they didn't appear in the next episode as well as they weren't "real" in the continuity of the show.

Nah, there's quite a few of them, like when Uncle Jack was going to make Lindsey president and it's never mentioned again. I could see how someone could go through the whole series thinking that they're out of continuity. However, after more than one time through maybe not.

I wonder if they're going to still try to do the same sort of fade-to-white transitions since they'll now be lacking in commercials, or if they'll just make the whole thing completely continuous.

e: vvv Haha, I meant just normally cutting between scenes, as it seems like the narration was best employed when returning from commercials, and I'd had to see that element downplayed here.
