Mainly the curb on the ramps for the side corners needs work. Also none of the sidewalk lines lined up properly (except at the top) and the 2:1 was actually off by a pixel on the right side (of the original roads/intersection). And of course the center could use something, as well as a bunch of confusing-rear end arrows and signs.

I want to use this but it needs to have corners that fit the building plots.

Also how do you plan on doing the cables? It would probably work better if you just drew them straight onto the combined picture instead of me trying to arbitrarily draw one and seeing if it fits. A couple of my posts have the in-game tower with the cables for reference.

And I liked the idea of having the shadow over fields for simplicity. I'm not exactly sure how to do shadows, someone will have to do this for the Citadel.

I'll figure the shadows and cables out when it's all done. Who knows how things will move around.

Here is the city so far in its most recent version.


If I've missed something let me know, for some reason some pictures havent been showing up for me. The little guys from doom for example I only saw because they were in a quote, so I don't know whats going on with some things.

Edit: I started working on last nights submissions 2 hours and 45 minutes ago, so it takes a while to update. Most people leave guides and stuff in so all that has to be taken out. It's looking pretty swell so far though

The cables in the picture appear small because the Citadel is so huge. The closest comparison I can think of for them is 3 foot diameter steel cable used in things like suspension bridges. Some also have a small cable stretched underneath them for some odd reason. And they kinda hang off the Citadel, instead of being taut like normal tension lines.

Once enough people (7) edit the anchor into their photo, all that needs to be done is to have their buildings moved into positions as close as possible to the original layout, then the cables can just be drawn in by you, since you have that massive file already on your computer.

I'm working on a quick sample I'll put it up when it's done.

The first is more of an old school look that stays loyal to the NES game, whereas the second has some slight dithered shading that matches the lighting being used on other peoples buildings a bit more.

Well some of it is right and some of it is using gradients instead of dithering and some of it is antialiased, so I'm not sure if you just coppied something or if you traced shapes with anti-aliasing on or what. Nothing is consistent though. I like the concept but it needs cleaned up. If you aren't sure how or you just don't want to I'll still put it in, but if you can clean it up it will be noticable.
