Our last thread was getting too long and the OP wasn't at all informative. So it's time for a new one.

What is RiffTrax?
RiffTrax are downloadable audio tracks that you play in sync with your DVDs. They are written and performed by Mike Nelson, former host and head writer of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

What is RiffTrax Presents?
RiffTrax Presents are like a regular rifftrax. The only thing missing is Mike. RiffTrax Presents features Matthew J. Elliot who while hasn't done a track with Mike, has done two on his own for RiffTrax Presents.

What about these "Shorts"? What're those?
Shorts are little bite size versions of Rifftrax. Usually spanning about ten or so minutes long, these are public domain videos that Mike and the gang have given the RiffTrax treatment. They only cost 99 cents and are already synched up! Wow!

Why do they cost different amounts?
There are different levels of RiffTrax pricing: RiffTrax starring Mike, Kevin and Bill are priced at $3.99. We also charge $3.99 for RiffTrax of longer-length films regardless of the number of people riffing them. RiffTrax of shorter length starring 2 people, such as Mike and a Guest Riffer, as well as solo Mike RiffTrax are priced at $2.99. And RiffTrax Classics, such as Plan 9 From Outer Space and Night of the Living Dead are priced at $1.99. Rifftrax for shorts may be as low as 99 cents.

If you like RiffTrax, check these out!

Cinematic Titanic - Joel Hodgson (the original host of Mystery Science Theater) is back in the riffing game. He's even brought a few of the original cast members including Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, Frank Conniff and Mary Jo Pehl. Cinematic Titanic takes the silhouette feature from MST3k and stick with it. Occasionally the movie will slow to a stop for a sketch and then the movie will resume playing. There's a lot more interaction with the screen this time around with a lot of sight gags. http://cinematictitanic.com/wpmu/

The Film Crew - The closest you'll get to a new MST3k. Film Crew features Mike, Bill, and Kevin as they give B movies a commentary track for their boss, Bob Honcho. Each episode follows the formula of MST3k. Opening segment-movie-sketch-movie-closer. There are four DVD's out now.

Important Sites
http://www.rifftrax.com - Their site, duh.

http://www.youtube.com/user/RiffTrax - You'll find samples and assorted other videos that they release here.

http://www.rifftraxdiy.com - Take Youtube videos and give 'em the RiffTrax treatment!

http://blog.rifftrax.com - Yup, a blog. But a blog written by the Rifftrax crew.

Am I the only one who thought the Plan 9 riff was kinda lame? (I got the 3 riffers version)

Although there's not probably much you can do considering the source material.

I thought it was. This is only because I ordered the colored Legend Films version which had Mike's commentary on it. After listening to both, I found that they were roughly the same thing.

I guess they had their 20 questions today. Next movie up is Iron Man.

October 14th

I was kinda hoping they'd do a riff of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls. Kinda like how they did 300, releasing it the same day the DVD came out. But I guess Iron Man will do.

See this is actually a good use of their time because its a BAD movie. Sometimes it just seems like they're doing movies just because they can. Like with Iron Man I don't really see a point in doing a Rifftrack for it.

I skipped over the Iron Man rifftrax too. After Raiders, I decided to try and stick to movies I know are bad.

Anyway, a new rifftrax is up. What? New? Now? Huh!?

RiffTrax SMASH! RiffTrax SMASH OLD EPISODE OF "The HULK"! RiffTrax OFFER IT FREE!

I started watching when it was on Sci-Fi Channel (Giant Spider Invasion was the first episode I saw and it was on my eleventh birthday or so). So Bill Crow is the Crow for me. Not that I don't like Trace's Crow, though. I think we can all agree that Josh's Servo was dull.

Seems they're selling the shorts as a DVD collection now. There's even a new short on it which is annoying because I've already bought all of the available shorts as they came out and don't want/need a DVD version of them.

I read that they were "thinking about it" once on their forums so I stopped buying the shorts all together. Now I can have them all at once! Bahahahaha!

Patriotism
Buying Food
Right or Wrong
Drugs are Like That
Skipper Learns a Lesson
The Trouble With Women
It Must be the Neighbors

with the extra short Shake Hands with Danger.

Also there's some weird 3-D animated avatars for Mike, Kevin and Bill.

The three riffer version of Reefer Madness is pretty good. My favorite joke in it was Bill's line of "That's right stoned guy watching this at home, everyone can hear the music but you."

I wish I had brought that with me. It's such a funny movie on its own but the commentary multiplies the comedy tenfold.
