I really hope the Female Lead of Graces will be awesome, like Raine Sage (yes I know Colette was technically the main girl in Symphonia but seriously I wish they hadn't put a key crest on her) or Tear Grant, and not lame, like Marta Lualdi. drat that was a long sentence.

More decent quality screenshots of Tales of Versus, Tales of Graces and Tales of Vesperia PS3 have been posted on Dengeki. http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/152/152757/ TOVS http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/152/152569/ TOG http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/153/153322/ Vesperia PS3 Tales of Graces already looks better than TOS2 did at this stage, aside from the ground textures in the arenas looking a bit flat. Tales of Versus apparently has an actual story of some sort as well. BurningCourage fucked around with this message at Apr 16, 2009 around 21:37 |

I just realized that the new pirate girl in Vesperia PS3 is pretty much the pirate girl Chat from Tales of Eternia. Creepy.

I'll only buy Vesperia for PS3 if it has: - Skippable cutscenes - That's pretty much it yeah Entire game is a wild goose chase and I probably would've finished my 360 post-game had it not of been for the inability to cut scenes. I'll bet all the backtracking crap will remain in the PS3 version though. Better keep Kouli's guide nearby. Also I really should continue my run of Rebirth. I play it for about 2 hours then forget about it for a month, come back to it, and repeat. I did this yesterday. The battle system is still a lot of fun (possibly the best of the series).

Direct-feed footage of Tales of Versus has been posted on the official site, and it's not looking too impressive. The choppy framerate of the videos certainly doesn't help. It looks like they just took the LMBS from, say, Abyss, removed free-run and slapped it in a fighting game. It also has full-screen full body cutins for the Mystic Artes now. http://to-vs.namco-ch.net/ Click character, choose from either Luke or Richter (the only two characters who have footage posted so far) and click the screenshot you'll see.

Yes! A thread bump! This gives me an excuse to post more poo poo about Tales of Versus, which none of you will likely be looking forward to. NEW CONFIRMED CHARACTERS THUS FAR: Philia, Lloyd, Collete, Judith, Anise, Jade, Stahn, Arche, Mao, Cless, Leon, Ruca and Asch and Nanaly. Features are 4-player battles over Ad-Hoc and possibily Infrastructure (aka online), story mode called Yggdrasil Battles and, uh, some other stuff. And finally, here's some new gameplay videos of the game in action. There are also new scans floating about if you know where to look. edit: here have some screenshots ![]() ![]() ![]() BurningCourage fucked around with this message at May 27, 2009 around 21:38 |

Yeah, there's definitely a few Smash Bros elements in there, such as stage hazards and dropping through platforms, but I don't know about items yet. Namco haven't revealed anything about the battle mechanics so I'm just going to assume it's like Abyss but without the free-run. Also here's the boxart.

This thread isn't gonna die, not on my watch! Here's the latest Tales Of Graces footage, showcasing the stunning looking combat. They seem to have abandoned Free Run this time, instead using sidesteps, much like a 3D fighting game. Not only that, attacks are performed with both attack buttons, instead of having one button be for normal moves and the other for specials. There's also a new camera angle which gives battles a fresh look. Also not that anyone really gives a poo poo but a handful more characters were confirmed for Versus, one of them being Rita from Vesperia. I forget the rest.

Some new costumes for PS3 Vesperia have been revealed too. Specifically: Yuri with Asch's outfit and hairstyle, Estelle with Tear's military garb, and Flynn with Luke's primary outfit. Also I guess the JP release date is 9/17/09.

Just compare Tales of Symphonia 2 (escort) to Tales of Graces (mothership). At first I thought ToS2 sucked because it was on the Wii but now I think they just said gently caress it and left it to die.

Plus I think TOS2 was made by some weird C team within Tales Studio. They definitely didn't have their A team on that.

Same trailer (I think), but better quality. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that ToG is being made more or less by Team Destiny, which is definitely better than the poo poo team they threw on ToS2 or most (all?) of the portable games. At the very least, it'll probably have a really good battle system, considering that it took Team Symphonia three full games before Vesperia managed to scratch some of the stuff that Destiny has been doing the whole time. It actually does look really nice, too. It looks like the game assets are more or less on par with Vesperia's, so I sort of wish they'd do an up-port on it to the HD consoles as well, but it's still good for the Wii.

Yeah, Emile was pretty fun to control and the gameplay itself wasn't bad. Everything else sucked, though. Tales of Graces is looking very good. Hope it has costumes and accessories for the big dumb girl inside all of us. Also, I hope the main character's out-of-battle-model sword and sheathe change depending what he has equipped (ala Yuri)

By the way, how do y'all usually bind your special attacks? I have settled on the following scheme: stick neutral: combo starters stick left/right: blowback/knockdown attacks or otherwise combo finishers stick up: launchers/jumping attacks stick down: diving/arcing attacks

I usually have a projectile or combo starter on Neutral, otherwise my setup is much like yours. edit: Tales of Versus has got me thinking: I'd like to see more unique weapons given to the heroes in future Tales games. ToV consists mostly of swordsmen with generally similar movesets, with character with more unique weapons sort of falling by the wayside. I have yet to play Vesperia (but it comes out in the UK on Friday!), but from videos I saw some of the villians had some really unique weapons, so why can't the heroes have those, instead of being stuck with the usual collection of swords and spears and gauntlets. I've usually gone with: Neutral: Misc, such as status changing artes. I think Luke's Steel occupied this spot throughout all of Abyss once it got the ability to heal. Left/Right: Starters Up: Launchers Down: Blowbacks

Neutral: Fire Up: Wind Down: Earth Left/Right: Dark RS Up: Light/Healing RS Right: Water RS Left/Down: Personal Preference

Well, it looks like Tales of Vesperia PS3 just got a bit more of a boost towards the likelyhood of NA/EU localization. The EU 360 version of Tales of Vesperia no longer sports the "Only for Xbox 360" logo on the top.![]() Not the most sterling proof, but enough to start raising an eyebrow.

I got my copy of ToV, and I'm about 5 hours in so far. I would honestly say it's the best Tales game I've played yet. I just wish it used mo-cap, since some of the animations look really wooden and it's a little offputting at times. At least I finally have it, after a year or so of waiting.

I love Tales games more than any other, but I can't imagine that Vesperia's PS3 release would fix the weird pacing issues it has later on - the fetch-quest styled approach, that is, that starts a bit later on. It's a pretty big turn off, and I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I was Abyss at this point. I'll beat it... eventually... I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
