I don't mind it all being DLC. Just hoping that most of that DLC comes out in the US.

Yeah. In this case, we probably won't get the EVA or Ao no Exorcist costumes, but everything else is all ours.

To be honest I prefer DLC costumes over unlockables. They may cost money but they're also available early in the game as opposed to being a late-game or difficult to get unlock which is basically stuck as being a NG+ feature instead. If I want to play pretty princess dressup I want to do it from the start.

The attachment system is apparently upgraded from Xillia, so you'd have that from the start anyway.

No chance we'll get that EVA stuff? I mean I could see EVA coming over more than Star Driver (which I wish we got).

Depends on who owns the distribution rights oversees, which is usually not the same company that made the deal in Japan.

Most likely that company will be like "we want money too" and Bamco is like "eh, gently caress it"

Yeah, basically. We only got the Idolmaster costumes because Bamco owns the rights in both countries.

Speaking of the EVA DLC is there a Gendo outfit?

Eva's rights are owned by Funimation who are notoriously tight-fisted.

I thought they just had the Rebuild movies and Sentai had the series itself? Either way it's a snowman's chance in hell that the Eva costumes are coming out of Japan.

If they gently caress up like Xillia 2, we might end up being able to use Japanese DLC with the US version, like with the Madoka costumes, though.

The costumes are from the Rebuild movies. One of them is Mari.

I for one am glad we don't have the mess that is usual Tales character designs.

Like, what on earth is this?

What is he wearing? Is it an overcoat? A traditional dress, like the also incredibly messy one Elize wears? A smock? I doesn't really look like anything. Why couldn't he just be wearing a med student uniform (which he IS wearing, underneath the thing)?

Compared to

Which is a shirt, pants, and a cape. The cape does have some unnecessary flair to it, but at least it looks like clothing. It's very reminiscent of Cress (Cless?) and Lloyd.

I was incredibly glad when Xillia 2 put all the characters into proper clothes. I might care a bit too much about weird outfits.

Eh, after Abyss it really tones itself down. Graces had like, maybe five sidequests that you could actually miss. Everything else could just be done in one giant end-game round-up, if you felt like it.

EDIT: And I mean, Jude's design isn't that great, but his starting outfit would have been boring as hell for a protagonist. I like his Xillia 2 design the best.

When compared against Rowan and Elise's outfits, I thought they were a pretty consistent fashion style. Just what everybody wore in Fennmont or something .

I just really like when characters are Wearing Clothes, instead of their clothes being magically fused to them (which explains things like how do they put these ridiculous accessories on?). Like, let's take a page from the great book of Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball characters are Wearing Clothes. They change their clothes from scene to scene like normal people. And guess what? You can still recognize them because they are well designed.

But this is going into a way bigger problem I have with whole load of anime and it's not specific to Tales or this game at all. Yes, his school uniform would have been a boring thing to wear for a whole game.
