If it's anything like Soma Bringer, you have to have a ROM dump from the original game, apply the patch, and then place the patched ROM on a homebrew card (see the homebrew thread for details).

I can't remember anything regarding Innocence. How good is it compared to the other titles?
It had the potential to be really good, but was ultimately held down by ridiculously grindy bosses later on. A pair of back to back boss battles literally took me an hour and 15 minutes to beat, and this was on the lowest difficulty level. If you play it, you'll wanna cheat and give yourself increased EXP when that starts to happen.

Dear god. In these cases where they clearly don't have any money to spend on voice actors, why don't they just leave the Japanese voices in? The scenes are subtitled and only japofag nerds play these games anyway so I doubt anyone would mind.
They'd have to pay the Japanese cast again. Getting cheaper VAs to do the voices is probably a better decision, even if the result is... well, you know.

I've pretty much gotten to the point that I want the Tales studio go away. It's just too annoying to see yet another game we'll never be getting.

Of course when the only likable new character in your game is one of the villains, you have problems.
Tenebrae was the best character in the game, and it's not like Tales characters are very good to begin with.

Tebebrae was cool and the Tales Pokemon system was an interesting new twist. The first hour of COURAGE IS THE MAGIC THAT TURNS DREAMS INTO REALITY was the worst opener of any jrpg I've ever played but once I got past that it was an enjoyable game that'd be possibly even good if it weren't being compared to Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia.
This is exactly what I meant, it's a mediocre game in a series of great ones.

All fair and valid points. I myself, feel DotNW could have been much better even as an escort title. As it stands it is completely mediocre. But I think comparing the game to something like The Last Airbender movie that was shat out by M. Night Shyamalan recently is a bit harsh.
It IS an escort title, that's why it had such a low budget. They were putting all their effort into Vesperia at the time.

Apparently if you search on GameStop's Points thing for Tales games; Graces, Vesperia PS3, and Tempest show up. Someone sent me a thread on a few other websites about this and it's pretty promising. It's like a GameFly leak.
Don't get your hopes up, this is probably just an error. They would never localize Tempest (the most hated Tales game) while stuff like Innocence and Hearts are around.

There are spa scenes in at least a couple more games. Phantasia had multiple ones, and so does Hearts. Symphonia 2 also gets a couple. All of them involve spying on the other group, so I guess the Tales studio really are pervs.

We only got three last gen, didn't we? Symphonia, Abyss and Legendia. They kept the Destiny games and Rebirth to themselves. Last gen wasn't much better than getting two this time.

I dunno, I thought Luke's growth was done pretty well. Certainly better than any other character in the Tales games I've played (Symphonia, DotNW, Innocence, Abyss, Phantasia, Hearts though I couldn't read it). What I liked was that he didn't go "I want to change" and instantly he's a good person, it actually took time before he got settled in a new persona.

Then again, I went into the game expecting Symphonia on the PS2 and didn't get it, so it might be a case of lowered expectations.

I don't remember any sliding around, but I do remember attacking being really awkward. Like, Emil won't actually swing his sword until after you let go of A, instead of when you pressed it.

I played a bit of Hearts (Maybe an hour?) And it seemed like most battles came down to: Mash attack and/or arte button until the combo gauge runs out. Run away to recharge. Repeat. This is because no enemy could do anything while stuck in a combo, and they couldn't really stop you from recharging the gauge either. And this isn't like Graces where you've got enough juice for maybe 4 attacks, no. That gauge will last you for at least ten. I dunno, maybe I was doing something wrong.

It's like that at first, but then becomes a game of the enemy just deciding your hits don't connect half way through a combo, followed by them stun locking you. It makes people like Innes (slow attacker) much harder to use and seems like they didn't put a whole lot of thought into the system. It's fun as hell, but random encounters can get really frustrating.

(Also gently caress Chalcedony for using his Mystic Arte twice in a row)

He's not just the sarcastic character, he's a driver of a lot of the plot and behind the scenes stuff.

Jade's whole character has always seemed kind of weird to me. He never seemed emotionally involved in the slightest, and it just seemed out of place that he was part of the team.

I never bothered with cooking in Tales games, since the effects of recipes was always really tiny, and you only have two opportunities to cook anything (after a battle and once before you enter another one).

Innocence's system was the best, you could cook whenever you wanted and they became items. There was no cooking skill involved, you just needed certain recipes to be able to make others. Of course, finding the recipes can become pure hell with the dungeons, but that's a problem with area design.
