I've had this ridiculously silly power metal song stuck in my head for weeks now, the animation for the music video is so good that I've wound up watching it dozens of times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeROS92-BsM&hd=1 and now I've just had the stupid lyrics of "ZARGOTHRAX, MASTER OF NIGHTMARES, KEEPER OF CELESTIAL FLAME" and "HE WIELDS THE LASERBLASTER, DARK LORK OF DUNDEE"and "HE'S A SORCEROR, NEFARIOUS, WITH EYES THAT BURN LIKE FIRE" manifest into my brain whenever I'm watching something and I hear someone be like "who's that" or "who is he" etc apparently the band's song lyrics are telling the story of their D&D campaign or something, which, yeah, that tracks with how absolutely doofy the lyrics are

gloryhammer has like 4 albums of their weird little story they've been telling for about 11 years now, it's all really loving stupid but the musicianship is sound and a lot of their songs are catchy. It's less a D&D campaign and more just a fantasy version of one specific town in Scotland (Dundee), which is now the entire galaxy. They had a falling-out with their lead singer a couple of years back who made a new band called Angus McSix or whatever with some Frozen Crown, Orden Ogen, and Rhapsody of Fire alums which is pretty fun their last album, and the last with Winkler, "Legends From Beyond The Galactic Terrorvortex" is really solid but if you don't have a high tolerance for this kind of goofy childish power metal, despite the talented musicians behind it, you're probably going to hate everything this band has ever done lol Babe Magnet has a new favorite as of 03:30 on Apr 1, 2024 |
