Foggy posted:Trading is incredibly boring, that's why you get robots to do it for you. Really, this is all that needs to be said for players finding the early-game too slow. Once you have a freighter or two running constant trades for you, you'll have a steady income that you shouldn't need to babysit, so long as you set it up in a relatively safe couple of sectors. This means that you can start gearing up a fighter wing, maybe with a corvette or two as heavy support, and start doing things that involve lasers and explosions. With any luck, your military endeavours will be profitable as well, which means you can buy more industrial/mercantile resources to further fund your war chest.

Remember kids: Unlike docking, using the trade extension software does not save your game. Bye bye 60+ ship fleet.

I'm doing a mission for Terracorp wherein I escort a few freighters to their HQ. Problem is, the last one won't dock. He flies towards the docking port, then chickens out like the station scares him or something. The first two went in fine.

That ship was called the Centaur MkIII Vanguard and was classified as Military M6 in XTM. It was always my favourite. It just looks so menacing.

Can some one explain what the AGI are? As near as I can tell they seem to be a separate section of Terran forces, but so far I don't think the game has even told me what the hell the acronym even stands for.

Nice pics! Here's one in return, this is for that "sense of scale" guy. Argon colossus (the ship so big it cannot dock) ![]() Click here for the full 1280x960 image. Here's my Magnatar and the space suit next to it, maybe 50 feet away from the colossus. ![]() Click here for the full 750x718 image. Right after the picture that huge ship started moving. I had to scramble away! Good thing I installed the boost extension on my freighters. kotau fucked around with this message at Oct 20, 2008 around 15:18 |

I have a laundry list of questions that will make you hate me, but it may convince me to love this game You can make fleets. Awesome. Do you need to crew them? Do they have a decent amount of autonomy to react if attacked? Do they have captains with personality? Do they even shout "OK" to orders with awful accents? Do the ships you fly have slots to hire engineers or science or whatever to make your shields better or things of that nature?

ShineDog posted:I have a laundry list of questions that will make you hate me, but it may convince me to love this game No, the game isn't really all that in depth. The only thing you asked that gets a "yes" is that your ships will fight back if attacked, though. To me honest my main gripe is that the game feels really dead and lifeless - it's the one thing they never changed in the series that always bugged me.

I just restarted with the Humble Merchant start and trading is still very fun. I'm in Argon space now and I'm having trouble finding a Best Buys and Best Sells ship upgrade. Anyone know where the closest one is? You can put it in spoilers, just quote my post.

Out of curiosity, have they changed any of the ship designs from X3 Reunion. I ask because apart from a few ships in X3:R ( Buster,Centaur and Split capitals ) none of the ships really appealed to me aesthetically.

I don't unconditionally love some of them either, however the fact that there are shitloads of new ships with cool designs makes up for it. Check that heavy centaur for example.

I tried X3 with the Xtended mod and got nowhere because I kept dying, repeatedly. I shelved it for a while now but I'm wondering if I should just ditch it and invest my time in this one instead. Thoughts?

So is there a solution for the bug where you are doing the pirate scanning mission in the Terran Defender campaign where you scan the 3 pirates but they don't become hostile? I was thinking of just going free roam and getting money for trade MkIII and some ships but I still would like to continue the campaign at some time.

Does anyone know of a way to fully automate station supply? Right now, I've got a single mercury attached to my station, but I can only tell it to gather/sell one resource at a time using the trade software MK2.Mokinokaro posted:AGI = Xenon It's AGI Task Force. vvv I was afraid you'd say that. I was looking into buying this as a cheaper alternative to Eve Online but a few things are putting me off. There's currently no demo for it, and the X3: Reunion demo crashes within 30 seconds of starting up, prompting a full computer restart. I'm certain the game can't be that buggy but it's a shame I can't give it a go before dropping my on it.Also, does the steam version of the game use Starforce like X3: Reunion does?

There's no Starforce anymore and the latest version of Reunion and TC have never crashed for me. Also, this game is nothing like Eve except that it's in space and you can trade and blow stuff up. I think Eve is the most boring game I've ever played, but I can play X3 for hours at a time.

Tages has its own problems but it's nowhere near as intrusive as Starforce. Essentially, Tages usually screws with how the game plays if it detects a pirated copy. It introduces bugs, lets the AI cheat, etc.
