Ok, so in this mission I'm supposed to meet with someone in Nathan's Voyage. When I got there, a cutscene triggered and told me to follow a ship. Does anybody know of anything I can do to fix this?

The autopilot docking is pretty terrible too. It seems like every escort mission I do ends with a transport completly unable to dock, and eventually getting blown up. Sometimes I can leave the sector and it will dock before more hostiles show up, but not always.

Yeah, I picked up a "Very Easy" escort mission last night to escort 3 heavy freighters through one sector of Paranid Space. They were going at 39 m/s so it took forever to get across the sector and I had to fight through about 9 sets of K'aak fighters along the way. Then, when we finally got to the gate, they got confused and couldn't figure out how to go through it. I sat there with SETA turned on for about 5 minutes, and then failed the mission because they all managed to crash into the gate and kill themselves

So far I've attempted two missions where i have to claim an abandoned ship and get it back to the owner, and on both missions i dont have nearly enough time to get the broken rear end things across two or three sectors. Then, when I fail the mission, the police come and blow the thing up. What a crock.

If you had a Jump Drive, then maybe you could transfer the drive into the abandoned ship and jump back to the target?

gonna stop playing this until egosoft patches the numerous bugs in this game or someone in the mod community comes out with fixes themselves.

i don't know how they got this game out without playtesting these bad terran missions first much less having the universal trader broken.

i think the final straw today was the idiocy that is the ai pathfinding which caused two of my demeters to explode against the side of my ore mine/complex

Bad pathing seems to be a staple. I was playing vanilla X3, sent my Cerberus through a gate and the seconds later the Aegir following it smashed into my rear and destroyed both ships.

I started a new game and I'm just killing stuff and exploring until they fix the mission annoyances, after that I'll do them again. Don't expect the pathing AI to be adjusted though, those annoyances have always been around. You just have to plan your complexes so that AI won't gently caress up. For example, keep the main complex area with fabs high up in the X axis, then bring the docking area down (towards area with gates and traffic) in X axis about 5 kilometers below the last fab. That way they dock ok and won't crash around the tubed area.

Take some advice Frank.

I've been playing the bankrupt assassin for a while and it's a completely different game. Fighting pirate bounty hunters so much that I'm having to repair my ship a lot.

I've got one captured dolphin that I need to get to and repair but I've been mostly looting bounty hunters and just bought 6 alpha IREs to flesh out my ship a bit.

All those haulers I wanted to attack previously I can now shoot at will.

I only just started playing, did the stupid "drive around the solar system doing sod all" mission right after the first xenon attack, and then when I got back to uranus I got smacked into by a ship coming out of jump and it killed me in one hit so now I have to do the whole boring thing again.

It's always difficult and worth docking to get an autosave so you're not completely back at the start.

If you don't like the missions (I hate them) then just play the custom game mode or one of the other starts.

Experience has taught me two things:

1. Stop at a station after every completed mission objective, or before undertaking any random combat mission.
2. Always approach jumpgates from an angle and aiming to fly in through the side if you're in anything smaller than a corvette.

Also, the moment you feel you've had enough of the story (it's pretty uneventful, but it provides good rewards), go and do whatever the hell you want.

To reduce the "blah, gotta dock to save" feeling, buy docking computer. Paranids sell them and they are also sold at Earth Torus. I'm not sure about the Terran Defender start or whatever it's called but at least USC Commander has Earth access already at start.

USC Commander is a pretty easy start by the way. You are given a Terran M3 Scimitar, it has 6 plasma shooter things, 199ish top speed and 2/5 25MW shields.

As has been said countless times in this and the previous X3 thread, feel free to drop the 'story' whenever you like. It occasionally gives pretty big rewards, but the missions themselves aren't so hot. If there's something you'd rather be doing, go do it - you can return to the plot later if you want to anyway.

Not really, as Dominic said most people who played Reunion ignored the campaign (it was terrible) I'll list the campaigns I've played so far and some of the rewards.

The Terran campaign is buggy in its current state, if I started again i'd probably ignore it until a patch.

Rewards: Ship rewards and unlocking terran systems. You do get a Vidar M6 which is one of my favourite ships

I've finished the Goner campaign which had no bugs, but a very hard mission. you have to protect goner properties from pirate attack, the first is an M6 which cant die, the next three are picked at random, a TS, a ranger or a station. Reload if the target is anything but a station otherwise youll probably fail it. Save after each part of the mission.

Rewards: An M6 which can mount all but 2 weapons in the game and the unfocused jumpdrive, think elite witchspace

Operation Final Fury is awesome if you like massive battles, but VERY HARD. I've managed to get pretty far into the campaign flying the Vidar M6 but I've reached a mission that I'll probably have to come back to later with a fleet.

I'm trying to finish this, its so frustrating when you are supposed to jump into a system and protect a stupid Goner Ranger, which has crappy shields, from several M5's, an M6, a bomber and a few M4's. Oh, plus its in the middle of the sector, so by the time you get there its got 1% hull or something.

Good to know its the last mission though I guess...

On the plus side my Cutlass seems to kick some serious rear end.

If they removed the m4's and m5's the mission would be far less retarded as it is now, or make it just station attacks. Instead of reloading until the target is a station I think it would be fair to give the ranger/ts god mode with cycrows cheats, I really doubt failing a mission 30 seconds after you get it was intended.

Oh, It's not the last mission but the ones after it are much easier.

EDIT:I should add that apart from the bugs in a few of the Terran missions, the campaigns in TC are quite fun and challenging.

None of the gimmicky crap from Reunion.

Bwahahahaha holy poo poo the pathing AI is retarded. One would think that there is all the space in the world needed in those vast Terran sectors for the AI to not gently caress up but guess not. I saw a Terran M2 and another M2 or M1 collide near a gate.

Both blew up.

Too bad both dropped only poo poo, no expensive weapons or anything. I was hoping to scoop up some shineys.

Now with 25% more wombat!

I lost an interceptor in my wing last night because it was set to "Protect My Ship" and crashed into a station I docked with. On the plus side though, I got a couple of Duke's Transports to bail, got two blastclaws repaired to full, and added in a couple more intercepters. I still don't have even close to enough ships to complete an "Easy" patrol mission though.

I found that the Easy patrols are kind of down to luck really, I have still have the Terran Sabre M4 with 4 Plasma cannons and I can cut my way through Xenon Ns, Ms and Ls til the cows come home (ProTip: Strafe constantly in different directions). However, as soon as one launches a missile there's a very good chance it's game over. One thing to try is to only accept the Patrol missions that go through heavily defended Core systems, the local military will all close in on the Xenon and you can go in behind them for cover.

The knowledge gained from the XCom project is lost forever. You have failed to save the earth.

Is there a website which shows pictures of all of the ships? I've seen a few model exporters, but I don't really want to download a program just to get an idea of what all the ships look like.

Also do people tend to like heavy fighters? I was thinking of buying an Elite, but its a good deal slower than my starting terran ship and fast ships are already a pain to hunt down.

Repair it if you want manually (eject from your ship and left click on it to use your repair beam), then send the ship to dock at the nearest shipyard. Once it's there, if you have the trade extension installed, go to My Property, click on your M, go to trade, hit the left arrow then enter. Boom sold for some moneys.

By the way, is there any explanation as to why shipyards take those ships back or what they do with them? I know it's just an easy excuse to just give the player money, but the shipyards don't sell them back to people. Maybe they strip them down and learn Xenon secrets?

Presumably, any alien ships go to the military for stripping down, as you say. It makes sense as to selling Khaak and Xenon ships.

I don't know how much it's worth, but it should be plenty for someone just starting. Eject from your ship, target the Xenon ship, get within 20m of it and hit "claim" on the target menu. Now, repair it with your repair beam. When it's done, order it to dock at the nearest shipyard. When it arrives, order it to "trade with station" and sell it.

You can get in that ship if you want. Just select your other one and order it to "Follow me." It's easiest to just have the ship you want to sell be ordered to dock at a shipyard while you go off and do other stuff, like make money doing missions.

If one of your cargo ships gets attacked, you can generally count on it getting destroyed every time. The only way that it'll get saved is if you're nearby to help it out, it has an AI escort, or there happen to be some military vessels nearby that'll chase it down.
