Didn't even know there was an application to automated it, did it awhile ago back when people first started doing it, that kicks rear end. Beats having to do all that garbage by hand, pretty big pain in the rear end.

I can confirm this runs Mother 3 perfectly but its out of stock and probably won't come back anytime soon.

Checking around the very few GBA carts actually in stock on Dealextreme this is probably the best of the lot though I've never used it myself.

Pretty much any cart would be ok but be sure to check site reviews. (At least one currently being sold on Dealextreme comes with an old-rear end printer style parallel cable and buyer reviews state the software included contains a virus.)

I think http://www.gameboy-advance.net/ is still the best resource for reviews and links to places to buy but this is pretty old stuff and a lot of those sites don't even exist anymore let alone have stock for sale.

The latest is 1.56b3. You have to register on the website to make it show up. But you can't just use any email they have spammer protection and it has to be what they deem a "real" email. You should be able to download the beta here unless I broke the link.

I have a question about my Acekard 2i. Why is it that when I use the flashcard, the battery life is terrible? I can have my DSi fully charged, shut the lid at night, and wake up in the AM to find the battery fully depleted. My DSl never did this.

Flashcards just generally don't handle sleeping properly, unfortunately. You'll just have to get in the habit of saving and shutting it off properly.

The DSi in general just seems to eat more power in sleep mode than the DSlite did. On several occasions I left my DSlite in sleep mode for over two weeks, after which I opened it up and played for an hour or two without issue. On the other hand, if I turn on my DSi and play for ten minutes, then put it to sleep for two days, I will have a red battery warning light when I open it again.

All of that was with regular DS carts.

The higher power drain on flashcards just makes it that much worse.

If you want to know specifically why it is because they have processors in them that must remain powered, they're not just ROM like actual game carts.

I don't know if you can still find them, but Supercard SDs (and related GBA carts) work just fine on GBAs, so if you have a memory card, you'll probably want something like that.

http://cheats.gbatemp.net/GBA/ has trainers for gba games which need to be patched into the rom. If you are using a card that supports .cht files, then you can just download the cht zip and copy the relevant .cht files into the same directory as your roms.

I'm having a bit of trouble with my microsd card. I was saving in GoombaDS, the GB emulator. And it froze as I was saving and must have corrupted. Everything in the GB folder is hosed up. Like random files with mostly boxes as charcters and random ascii text. Also it lists the folder size as 3gb which is odd since the card itself is only 2.

So I figure just delete it and replace, right? It constantly says the files are in use. I tried used a command prompt to delete them and I get "The parameter is incorrect" if I try to go to the folder and "filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect". So...How do I get rid of this? It's happened once before and I just reformatted the card but I don't wanna have to deal with almost 2gb of data if there's an easier way. chkdsk returns errors too but won't fix them because it says the volume is in use. Any help would be nice

Uh, is 2gb a lot these days? Just copy it off onto your hard drive (I would be astounded if you don't have 2gb of hard drive space), reformat the card, and put it back on.

No, it's really not a lot and I have the room, I'm just impatient. But really the corrupted info is like probably less than 1mb so I'm just being lazy about the format. Umounting the volume then running chkdsk gives an error so I'll probably just leave it as is until I get annoyed enough to stop being lazy and just reformat it.

If you have any other operating systems available, try those too. I've used Linux and OS X to fix or grab data off of drives that Windows says are borked beyond repair.

Hey, I'm looking towards purchasing a DSi and a flash card as well. I was wondering if anyone could give some feedback on their experience using an AceKard 2i. Have they had any problems with it with the new DS firmware update? How easy is it to update the flashcard/possible. Could that be a problem in the future? What websites would you recommend getting the flash card from(price/shipping time)? Thanks.

I've bought three of the AceKard 2i cards, one for me, one for my fiancee, and one as a birthday present for my brother. We all love them. As long as you have access to either a non-updated DSi or a separate DS/DSlite, the firmware update is no problem at all. It takes about a minute to run.

I've got a DSi running the newest firmware, using a 16gb card, and it's been flawless so far. The only problem is that when playing it eats battery life faster, and if you try to use close-lid sleep mode it still eats battery life about half as fast as if it was being played. Inconvenient, but currently there's not much that can be done about that.

- NetHackDS: great port with a neat interface.

- Castle Wars DS: a card game in which you have to destroy your opponent's castle or build yours to a maximum (playable vs CPU or another player in hot-seat mode).

- Marshmallow Duel DS (link in OP): which is lots and lots of fun for two players on the same DS simultaneously.

- Powder DS (link in OP): a rather new and popular roguelike.

- PuzzleManiak (link in OP): huge puzzle collection

- Platdude's Retro Collection (link in OP): retro games

After consideration and research I decided to go with a DS Lite. I will be getting a CycloDS flash card and a 3-1 EZflash so I can play GBA games as well(GBA is why I'm going with the Lite instead of DSi). Is this a good path to go before I pull the trigger and by them?

No, this is a very good selection. I'd recommend NOT getting the 3-in-1 (or anything) from DealExtreme, as they were sending out lots of DOA ones a while back.

Thank you, I was looking at this one: http://www.realhotstuff.com/expansi...ize-p-212.html. I'm not sure if it requires an additional memory card though to load GBA games on it though. Any ideas or recommend a different one? I'm usually better at stuff like this.

If you're getting a DS Lite, you might as well get this one. It fits flush with Slot-2 instead of sticking out like a GBA cart. The only disadvantage is that it can't be used in a phat DS or an actual GBA.

The CycloDS has built-in 3-in-1 support, but I find it a little flaky. If you're worried about losing your saves, you could do what I do and use Rudolph's GBA ExpLoader. It's only a little extra work, especially if you just leave one game in NOR all the time.

Pretty sure this is the exact one I got (I ordered from RealHotStuff). I bought it before the "plus version" existed, so this should be it. It has the advantage that the CycloDS firmware can launch games directly from it. You don't need to use that exploader program or whatever, just choose a GBA game from the Cyclo menu. Just need to change a line in the config file to enable it. The plus still can't do that, as far as I know.

I got a SupercardSD waaaaay back in the day on my DSPhat, and I never stopped using it until the other day when my DS finally died. That sucker still worked on everything I tried, so I don't really feel like upgrading to a cycloDS or anything.

So my question is, will that SpuercardSD work on a DSLite? I'd rather get one of those than another used DSPhat, but I can't seem to find any info on the ancient Supercard site that tells me one way or another. I remember having to flash the firmware on my DSPhat, not even sure if that is possible with the DSLite.

Anyone shed any light?

I used a SupercardLite until a few months ago and it worked well. I guess the same would apply to a SupercardSD. You'll have to flash the DS Lite's firmware though (which is easy) or use a Passkey.

What's all this then? I've never contacted or used my email in any thing to do with Cyclo. How can I be banned from something I haven't joined yet?

Edit: also their link for the latest moonshell doesn't seem to be working, and their evotools download doesn't seem to contain the cheat editor. Jeeze.

You can't use free emails. It has to be something they deem "real".

Just replace it with DSOrganize. And check the xml file in the cyclods directory to see how it tries to start moonshell.

I experienced the same problem launching Moonshell 2, because I moved/renamed its launcher NDS to the moonshl folder to work with the older firmware. And because I've been too lazy to fix it, I've been launching Moonshell with DSOrganize.
