A few years ago, SA had a contest for something or the other. There was GI Joe Fan Art with Pokemon etc, if anyone remembers that. Also, there was a song a group made that I really loving liked. It was a new GI Joe Theme song and had some of the following lyrics, which are obviously horribly mangled : Snake eyes is a loving badass, Destro, you know he's doing the baroness, because he's the weapons specialist.

It would be AWESOME to find any of that again. I can't find it anywhere on the actual frontpage where it was featured in probably 2005 or so.

This one is very easy. I can't recall the artist or name of that series of photos of very realistic looking sculptures. The most memorable one is a reclining, floppy eared, flesh-tone pig / dog / human thing that is suckling a bunch of young. Another, which I am not sure if it is by the same artist, is of a large octopus coming through a doorway.

There was a site around 2000 called somerandomguy.com. He was mostly famous for his DBZ & Gundam Wing Rewrites, and his FF6 walkthrough. It went down soon thereafter, when the owner decided he wanted to move on to other comedy writing projects.

I've found a somewhat complete archive of the site (http://www.theomniverse.com/somerandomguy/index.shtml if anyone else wants to revisit the days when jokes about Gundam Wing were still considered fresh.) However, I never did find out what these projects were that Somerandomguy moved on to. There's a pre-collegiate nerd within me that wants to see what ever became of SRG's work, and I'd like to indulge him. It's a long shot, but do any goons happen to know what became of Somerandomguy?

We had this woman's art exhibited in Welly a few years back, I saw an ad on the side of a bus after seeing it crop up on parts of the internet for years. It was really good, photography, cute little trucks, something about make beleive creatures that live in our neighbourhoods.

That particular piece was specifically about genetic modification and harvesting and where we draw the line when it comes to growing human-replacement parts in/on animals.

A few years back, there was that whole goofy Japan Break Industries thing, where that Japanese demolition company had a #1 hit single with their jingle. The song was pretty ridiculous, "building cannot take it for very much more, pieces of concrete are hitting the floor, these are the things that get in the way of world peace, break out!" I haven't had much luck finding that theme song since then, but the thing I'm really looking for is the flash video game they made too where you knock over a house, an apartment building, and then a big office building (I think.) It was a stupid game, but the whole premise was so hilarious. I can't find this game anywhere and I've always wanted to play it again.

The other thing should be much easier: it's a free music website, similar to pandora, where you input the genre, time period, mood (happy, sad), tempo (calm, dance? not sure), etc. The site gives you a web-like playlist of songs that match your criteria, color coded by genre. I think you could also type in a band name or song and it would hook you up with things that were similar, too. This site had a pretty snappy layout. I think I originally found it by stumbleupon a year or 2 ago.

When the trailer for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace came out, someone did a parody style trailer. I can remember that in that scene where the camera pans out over the interior of Amidala's castle, someone says a comment like, "Can anyone find the furniture?" and that when obiwan Kenobi met Anakin, they dubbed it to say, "Tinky Winky, meet Lala. Uh oh!"

That was the best thing ever when I was 13, it'd be funny to find it again.

Does anyone have an idea of where to find Larry Carlson's series of art that was basically a ever-changing image? The best way I could describe them is a scene that slowly morphs into a different scene, such as a wooded area with different parts of the image changing. I believe there were 10 different "images". I've talked to him a few times and he said that he is trying to get it back up on his website, but I haven't seen it yet. I am also unable to find a cache of the page(s) anywhere.

EDIT: Virtual Om is the name (and the current iteration of it, or supreme om, is nothing like the orignal). Vermont Endless was one of the scenes.

There was a something awful thread a few months ago which linked to a news article about the discovery of some sort of temple to humanity found in Spain(?maybe?). It had been built a few decades ago(also maybe) by a secret organization of artists in a man-made cave. The art on the walls was amazing and the local government was trying to turn it into a tourist attraction because the artists hadn't paid taxes.

I really, really would like to see how this turned out.

There were clients and servers, and it pretty much kicked the rear end of IRC, torrentz, napster, kazaa, p2p, and whatever else was out there.

I know Hotline is gone, but I have to ask - is there a community out there that is similar? Where rules are kept and ratios are maintained?

Also, I'm not asking for "files", I just loved Hotline and wonder if it still exists in some form.

This was Borky

Borky posted:

A loose female acquaintance of mine calls me at 1:00am today and asks me if I could print something on the computer for her and bring it over in the afternoon. "Hey yeah sure sure, whatever you need I'll help you, I'm all yours," I tell her. She sends me this file and lo and behold I can't open it. It's made in Microsoft Publisher and I don't have that program so I begin panicing, trying to find this program or a way to print the file. Scouring the internet yields no results and I do my usual pacing in my room.

I finally come up with an idea and I tell the girl, if I can proceed with it. The plan was I would carry my printer about 2miles to her house, print out the needed pages, maybe talk to her a bit while I was there. I was hoping for at least a hug out of this ordeal.

By the time I get there, I'm wet all over from sweating in the +90 degree heat outside and carrying a heavy motherfucking HP Deskjet printer. The first thing I see upon entering her room (my first time in a girl's bedroom) are some panties on her bed.

After the initial shock of seeing such a horrific sight for the first time, I setup the printer and get my job done. However, I did consider sniffing the lingere when she left the room once, but with the wuss that I am, I just ended up staring at them the whole while. That was a sarcastic joke for those of you too stupid to realize that

To make a long story short, just as I was finishing up with the printing job (which was hefty), her boyfriend and his gay friend walk in, say hello, and begin hanging out in the room as they waited for the girl to finish this work so they could go to the mall.

This effectively ruins my chances of getting a hug and I walk another 2 miles home with the motherfucking printer in hand. The only thing that I got out of this were some very painful fingers and a "thanks" as I walked out her bedroom door.

So, am I pathetic for doing all these things? It wouldn't be the first time I've pledged my heart and soul to a girl and gotten back almost nothing in return. I would hate turning her or anyone else I knew down or making up some lie.

Back in 2001 or so I downloaded an obscure puzzle game for Windows called "Package". It was Japanese in origin, and freeware. It also had a really catchy background music MIDI that rivaled Tetrinet in catchiness.

It looks like this:

Feeling nostalgic, I searched high and low for it a few months ago, and only got as far as a few websites. Believe me, it is damned hard to search for a Windows program with such a generic name. It was little heard-of I'm sure, and from Japan, and old (it says it's for Windows 95 in the screenshot, so it must have already been a few years old when I downloaded it). I'm not surprised that there's almost no reference to it on the internet at all.

I actually found an archive of the site that I originally downloaded it from: link. The page says its filename is sc5scr.zip, but the link points to the correct file of package.zip. The download link doesn't work though.

And I found some bizarre anime website that is currently hosting it, that you need to pay $8/month to access its files: link, (ctrl+f for package). This lists its filename as packinst.exe, which the game extracts from.

I also found this FAQ for it: link

So, goons, do any of you have a way I can play this game again, or is it doomed to be held for ransom forever by some weird, creepy anime website that was designed in 1998?
