Quickbodge: Hit 'stop' before the page loads completely. Video will then play as normal. It can unfortunately take a few attempts to get the timing right. Youtube was working fine last night!

Ctrl + Shift + Click also opens in a new background tab (or Shift + Click for a new focused tab), but doesn't suffer from the caching issue. Bizzare.

It won't -- it's a fairly long-standing bug involving middle click tab opening and incorrect caching of 302 redirects. And the stupid bit is that it only does it with middle click. Use ctrl+shift+click and it'll open the link in a new background tab and redirect to the correct page.
