I solved my problem just by renaming. The folders said 720p on them, as soon as I removed that, they were scanned and added into the library.

On the aTV 2nd gen how do you disable subtitles?

How do you disable a plugin? My internet was out last night, and I would get 4 or 5 trakt notifications every time we watched a show. All were errors, as there was no access to the servers. I disabled both Trakt and Trakt utilities in the Add-On section, but kept getting the problem.

I don't know how you would go about disabling the service, but there are supposed to be options for disabling notifications in Trakt's settings.

Yeah, best thing to do is disable trakt notifications in the settings. Don't understand why anyone would have them enabled, aside from troubleshooting I guess.

I went back a few pages (big thread) and was wondering if there have been any developments recently like add ons or whatever that aid in playing rifftrax files along with movies. Anyone else done this with xbmc?

So my XBMC install (Win7) started acting up. Scripts failing and some other weirdness. I reinstalled, which caused even MORE weirdness. My watched tags look like they reverted to a few weeks ago, items were missing from the library, and updating wouldn't pull anything in. It was then I realized I had installed the last official build, and not one of the nightlies I was running before. Oops. So I uninstalled XBMC completely, deleting the \appdata folder and the \program files folder. I restored my all-important \userdata folder from my server, and XBMC seems to be working now. The only issue I have is with the add-on system, there seems to be items missing. Aeon Nox isn't there, and neither is Trakt. I know I can install them manually but I'd like a working add-on section.

I don't think you can wholesale copy over your userdata folder can you? I am pretty sure stable/nightly changes things within that folder, probably why its not working.

Nightly would have updated the database version so you can't take a userdata folder from that and use it on a Dharma install. However, it sounds like he just copied over a backup from before he tried the nightly which would be fine.

I was running on a nightly install, then hosed up and installed the latest non-nightly version on top of that. THAT hosed everything up (stuff played, the changes made to the library made it weird). That's when I uninstalled/deleted everything, installed the nightly, and restored my userdata folder. XBMC is working fine, except for the add-on section.

Honestly, your addons section sounds like it is working fine since you are running nightlies. According to the Trakt website, they are only in the Dharma repository. For Eden nightlies, you have to manually install it. I'm sure the other missing items are the same way, and most will likely get added back to the official addon repository closer to release.

Yes when I tried a nightly a couple weeks ago there was nothing in the repository at all, so thats probably it.

I'm having an issue with my ATV2 and XBMC. I'm trying to play 720p mkvs and most play fine. However, certain random ones with hard crash my ATV2 and others will play the sound at normal speed but the video will be super slow. This seems to be totally random which files do this but the same file will do the same thing even after a restart. Any ideas except updating to latest nightlies?

The thing about MKV is that it's not really a format, it's just a "container" (like how AVI doesn't really mean anything). ATV2 has trouble handling certain formats, so depending on how your MKVs are encoded, it could be that (anything with ridiculously high resolution, for example). I've also had people tell me that subtitle support is spotty at best, and I've got some subbed anime that crashes like you describe. As for what you can do? The nightlies supposedly have some hardware acceleration in them, but installing a nightly opens up a whole new can of worms that you may or may not be prepared for. I'm not really sure what else to recommend, though, because I'm still pretty new to all of this myself.

This might be my own fault for trying to fix something that isn't broken. After deciding to plug a keyboard in so i could check the wake on lan settings in the bios, i rebooted to xbmc and found my remote had stopped working. It still lets me start the machine remotely but for the rest it has stopped working. The machine is an asus EeeBox PC EB1501P running xbmc live with the latest nightly. and it was working fine last night before i plugged the keyboard in. Any one have any ideas?

Just to type out the obvious first attempt at troubleshooting; did you try unplugging the keyboard?

Keito posted:Just to type out the obvious first attempt at troubleshooting; did you try unplugging the keyboard? Yes, and i've been trying a few other things as well. Best i can guess is that the set up was "precarious" and that after adding and removing the keyboard something fundamental changed somewhere and now it's broken. The odd thing is that as far as i can tell none of the lirc files have been touched. I'm tempted just to reinstall and put openelec on it instead of xbmc-live/ubuntu 10.04 since they seem to have fixed the bug that was necessitating the workarounds.

I had the video slowdown problem as well. It turns out that it only happened on 5.1 AC3 audio so I enabled Dolby Digital in the audio settings on XBMC. This maybe unrelated, but afterwards, even though the video was playing fine, I was getting popping and static in the audio and ended up forcing 16-bit sound in the ATV2's main settings and fixing the problem completely.

I'm using a MCE Remote which works for the usual stuff, select movies and play pause etc.. works well but there are a lot of functionality that I feel are missing from the remote mapping. Since this remote is very common, aren't there any mapping with all the function and maybe some kind of summary of the function to which button they are affected or do I have to do this by myself?

I have apparently completely effed up XBMC (see my posts above). I thought I had it fixed, but XBMC is freezing on a regular basis, and refuses to install some plugins. I'm going to completely uninstall and reconfigure the whole drat thing, but I want to keep my watched tags. Is there a way to backup just those? All of my video files have nfo files nowadays, so it shouldn't take a HUGE amount of time to rescan everything. Edit: apparently watched tag status is written to the nfo files when you export the video library (settings > video > export video library). You need to edit the advnacedsettings.xml file for the status to be imported, though. Music is going to take forever, though. ![]() While I'm here, there's no good music video scraper, right? I have a bunch of videos in a folder, and set it up to use first the mtv scraper and then the yahoo scraper, but it didn't catch all of them. Any advice on setting up a music video library, as opposed to just using folders? EC fucked around with this message at Jul 21, 2011 around 15:44 |

Any advice on setting up a music video library, as opposed to just using folders? It was pretty hellish running this for hundreds of videos, but well worth it in the end. For some strange reason, though, the music library is sorted in a weird way. When I sort alphabetically it is normal for the most part except for a bunch of unsorted videos which are just thrown at the top of the list. I have no idea why and it's driving me crazy.

Was it on here someone mentioned making a script using the Youtube top 25 music videos on random, or something like that? That would be really good. I can't find the post now, so it might have been somewhere else.

Why does this program (10.1 on Win7 x64) seem to work PERFECTLY while the overlay/file browser is over the 1080P video - but as soon as I go to "just the video" it shrinks it down to be letterboxed AND pillarboxed - and the frame-rate goes to poo poo? This is the machine I have fond memories of XBMC from the good old days - plays anything! Even inside rars! Makes bacon! But this is just silly. I have tried different permutations of the options under System->Video but can't seem to get it just right. Is there a standard trouble-shooting practice?

Hey guys. So I have a question about executing files from XBMC. It kinda sucks. I wanna run an Autohotkey script from XBMC (activates a tool called My.Library to grab Hulu & Netflix .strm files), but I don't want XBMC to minimize. If possible I just want to activate the thing right from the XBMC interface. Any ideas for this? I tried associating .AHK files with Autohotkey as an alternative player. Then, I made my script into a favorite and ran it from there. This actually works well, but since it's 'playing' the file, I get a message about an external player, and my current video stops playing. the Exec command also works, but with the obvious downside of flickering the XBMC window every time I do it. I'm going for seamlessness here.

That works and I have been doing it actually. But I'd like to have the ability to add this as a favorite, that way I can integrate the ability to trigger it manually into my Skins and such.

After some talk about Aeon Nox I decided to check it out and I really like it. However, I have been playing with the playlists, and I am wondering if there is a way to link the "Tv Shows" main menu item to a smart playlist? I would like to create a tv shows view without any items that are: "Genre: Animation", so I can create another view that has just "Genre: Animation" and link this as another start menu item called "Animation". Unfortunately, since the items have to be scraped by the scraper for them to be accessible via the playlists, the unwanted items (animation) also show up in the general "tv shows" view. Is there any way to change this? Thanks in advance!
