So i just got done playing the new special infected for a few hours, so here are my impressions. Charger- Holy gently caress, i can't describe how much fun it is to charge down an entire street and knock a group of 4 survivors flying. They go like bowling pins. The only downside is when you miss, your totally hosed with the stun. Has 600 health Spitter- A lot of fun to play, the spit recharges fairly quickly, but only has 85 health. Is actually pretty difficult to play as, and if you get spotted your gonna die quick. Jockey- The most situational SI thus far, as it doesn't really do any damage of its own. It has 325 health, but its great for catching a separated survivor, and being a huge distraction. The survivor can resist your control by trying to run away, so you can't just make a direct beeline for the nearest cliff or something, its gonna take a little effort on your part to control the survivor. Tank- I only got to play it once, and it was basically the same as before, but gently caress does getting bilebombed suck. Your movement is restricted a bunch and the survivors get to wail on you. Versus is going to be a hell of a lot of fun, but with a coordinated team you can seriously gently caress up survivors right out of the saferoom. A boom, a charge, and a spitter can kill an entire team in under 10 seconds if you do it right. Im gonna assume that they are gonna fix some balance issues with the new classes when they actually release them, but so far its a lot of fun to be the new SI. So much that being stuck with a hunter/smoker/boomer kinda blows. Exploding ammo is ridiculous, and so is the M79. Especially when you have incendiary ammo with the M79, jesus.

Borderlands is pretty cool but way too easy. Second Wind tanking as a Hunter is so abusively powerful with a decent SMG or machinepistol.

If you do all the sidequests it's way too easy on the first playthrough. Which is a little unfortunate, but I think you really have to go through the second playthrough to get the most out of it. It's not a big deal because the story is pretty thin and the real fun is making bandits explode and getting cool new guns. I highly recommend Borderlands, it's fun as heck. The emphasis on loot is actually pretty fun. I don't really care so much about the quest or moral decisions or any of that crap, I just want bigger and more badass guns and money. That and watching people die from elemental damage is always hilarious. WimpBastard fucked around with this message at Nov 4, 2009 around 04:49 |

I installed the L4D2 demo and played a round today and it was pretty cool. I'm seriously thinking about buying it, I dunno if there are any more slots in anybody's multi-pack party though. Also, how does the Jockey actually work? We killed one that jumped on a guy today pretty much as soon as he landed. And how did you get to play as them, did the pre-order demo come with Versus?

The Survivor tries to fight the influence by moving around. The Jockey can make a Survivor move away from the group, splitting them up, or walk them off a building or something like that.

Borderlands is fun as heck.![]() So far that's the neatest gun I've found. The stats are ok, but it's the flavor text "Pele demands a sacrifice" which sets this gun apart from all the other stuff I've gotten. What it means is splash fire damage. Which means you don't even have to directly hit someone to have "shot" them and set them on fire. Sometimes I know I'll miss a headshot so I just aim at the ground near where they're standing it it does the same as a bodyshot. It's pretty much a long range rocket launcher - I've gotten multiple kills in one shot. The ability is so awesome that it's not even weak at short range. In fact, at short range it's practically a shotgun since the splash damage will get them (it does more damage than any of the shotguns I'm carrying as well).

WimpBastard posted:Borderlands is fun as heck. For req level 29, that's not bad, and the splash thing is awesome. But as a Hunter, I hate sniper rifles with small mags and low fire rates. Also sniper rifles with 1.0x zoom. At that point you'd do just as well with a War Stomper type scoped combat rifle. I have an S&S sniper rifle with ~2 fire rate and a 10 round mag (so it's 15 with my maxxed Loaded skill) and that has sold me on the M21 Tactical style of sniping. I freely admit that strategy runs you out of ammo quickly if there's not a soldier in your team to regen ammo, but a lot of the Hunter's best moves weaponry-wise really need a soldier around to regen ammo.

At that point you'd do just as well with a War Stomper type scoped combat rifle. The level requirement was actually higher when I got it. More like 34 or something. I don't know why it's 29 now, I think it has something to do with your proficiency lowering the level limit. It is slow, but then it pretty much kills weaker enemies with even a near miss, and as I said it's basically a shotgun at close range. The only weakness is fire elemental enemies, but then I have a really badass revolver to deal with them. The only other problem is whenever I shoot the drat thing, there's so much smoke and flame obscuring the target it's hard to make quick follow up shots. I haven't really run into an ammo problem for a long time now, I'm not even using the guns with ammo regeneration to replenish my stocks anymore. I think it's because each ammo pickup on playthrough 2 gives you twice as much ammo than in playthrough 1. WimpBastard fucked around with this message at Nov 5, 2009 around 23:11 |

The only reason you can't buy one is if you already have it.

I'm not really paying to upgrade anything on this computer anymore. It's been a good machine, and has worked with very problems these last six years, but everything is so behind the technology these days, I'm just going to be buying a new computer rather than buying all the things it needs to get up there with everything else.
