Seriously, the grenade launcher is enough reason to buy Stetchkov alone. If you don't cackle like a madman the first time you put a 40mm beanbag right into some poor bastard's beanbag, you have no soul.

So what you are saying is I shouldn't buy the plain old SWAT4 for $14.50 from SA mart and just buy Gold for $20?

Stechkov Syndicate is pretty fun (I especially like punching detained suspects and the multiple use taser), so you really should just get the Gold edition. I just bought Killing Floor and will be reinstalling Red Orchestra. Who wants to alternate zombie killing with dirty loving Nazi killing?

It's the route I went.

OK I just broke some goons heart by backing out of buying SWAT4 from him. I am going to hit up the Fry's tomorrow, I really prefer to have physical copies of games.

I had forgotten it, and that is a shame. Punch button + FN whatever-whatever grenade launcher = party. I never used tasers much, if a suspect was giving me poo poo I'd shoot him in the leg with my Glock Also the breaklights to mark cleared rooms was a godsend, especially in MP if we split into elements. Plus it's just fun to throw them around. Also I would suggest avoiding D2D, mostly because I have heard horror stories about them but if it works for SWAT4 that's good. Now if I could find my SWAT4 discs

Fry's, Best Buy, Wal Mart, nor Gamestop had SWAT 4. I came home and ordered 2 copies (one for me and one for my other roommate who loves tactical shooters) from Amazon. They should be here in 3-4 business days which means next Thursday/Friday. I hate stores like Gamestop who seems to hate on PC gamers. EB Games was the poo poo, huge selection and would buy back PC games which meant a cheaper used selection of PC games. gently caress I hate Gamestop.

Yeah, the gameplay is pretty different for both. I don't really play SWAT4 anymore. The people I played with are still around but we pretty much don't have the time to get everyone together. Honestly every time I've tried to play games with goons it's been horrible so I'm not keen on it. Especially games that require teamwork.

Okay, so Jeeves did me a solid and sent me some much-needed RAM for my struggling HP:![]() Only trouble is, I opened up my case and found this: ![]() I don't know what the gently caress. Newegg says the thing should take either PC2700/333 or PC3200/400, or both, or maybe neither. It looks like I've got two 256MB PC2700 chips in there. Here's a shot of the board; I have two blue slots and two black slots. Somebody help me out and tell me what the gently caress:

Put your new RAM in two slots next to each other. If you boot up just fine, you can also put your old RAM back in if you feel like it. I remember someone telling me that that's not optimal, but I'm not sure about it.

PC133 RAM will work in a machine that's supposed to use PC2700 or PC3200 RAM?
|

Maybe, I have no idea. Put it in and try it out. If it doesn't work it'll just tell you, it won't explode or anything.

PC133 isn't DDR and can't use the same slot. PC2700 and PC3200 will work in the same machine fine, but even boards that accept both DDR and SDR can't use them both at the same time.

I've got 4 1gb sticks of PC3200 in the closet that I could never get to work. The guy who ebayed them to me just sent more, so I'm honestly pretty sure he knew they didn't work and was just trying to pull one over on me. If you want them I can toss them in the mail, they're just collecting dust here and it might have just been a motherboard issue. I've got some kind of older Radeon here that may or may not work as well if you're feeling lucky.

The two of those should work together. The same colored slots are for pairs but it honestly does not matter for low end ram. Put your 2 256 in the blue slots and the 512 in one of the black slots and it should work just fine. With the different speeds it will just run everything at the lowest one. So that 3200 will run at 2700. As long as they both fit in the slot they will work together .

That 512MB stick is ECC and will NOT work in basically every consumer-level motherboard ever. It is server-class memory, and is a diffrent beast, in addition to it appearing to be SDR SDRAM which is also not compatible with DDR SDRAM at all.

That's true, unless they require different voltages, in which case you'll get bluescreens all over the place.

In the interest if actually nailing down what kind of ram goes in the board, can we get a model number on the board? Additionally, if you have a stick that has two notches in it, it will not go in a slot that only has one tab. PC133 does not go in that board, at any time. Boards that have four slots, will generally pair them so that similarly colored slots are joined at the bus to allow dual channel communication. If you have Blue/Blue and Black/Black, you want to use two sticks of the same size and speed in either the blue or the black slots and put nothing in the other slots. OR, put the same thing in all four slots. OR, put one fat rear end stick in one of the slots and leave the rest empty. 1024mb of ram, over three slots of varied speeds will perform slower than 512mb of the same speed running in dual channel mode. In your case, my recommendation would be to purchase four sticks of DDR 3200 either 256mb or 512mb. Given the age of the board, it may be compatible with 1gb sticks - buy why risk it? You will see absolutely no performance difference above 1gb of total ram with WinXP Pro, and if you put 4gb of ram in it, you will have nearly an entire GB of ram the OS won't even be able to address. At 2gb of ram, you maximize speed (by retaining same speed configuration and running in dual channel mode) and capacity without losing ram to the 32bit limitation of the OS. Truthfully, four 256mb sticks would do pretty much the same thing for you that four 512mb sticks would do, but the price difference might not be enough to bother saving the $30 or so. If it were me, I'd buy two sets of http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...4386&CatId=1354 and call it a day. Kingston is a reputable brand, and when shopping for ram, you want two phrases to be displayed. Guaranteed compatible, and lifetime warranty. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...y=WARRANTY#tabs says it has the warranty down, and being Kingston I'd venture to say it's probably compatible.

That looks sexy as hell, and I should be able to play it now! This months Game Informer had a half page on Americas Army 3. Unlike Brother Of Duty Six Raven of Honor Defeat, it should be free - so all you free loadin' TFR goons pay attention. Unlike the original game training will not be compulsory this time. Soldiers will no longer be able to jump, instead there will be a context sensative "Vault" command. Realistic ballistics, including barrier penetration and sound is promised. Would You Like to Know More?
