Why does COD 5 get no love but only hate? Treyarch did a good job! I don't get why they chose to make a WWII game, but still, it kicks moderate rear end. Weapons are well balanced, gameplay is tight, weapon choice is muy bueno (BAR kicks rear end). Give it a chance, damnit.

I was watching MY SISTER play that game on her PS3 and the weapon models looked like complete poo poo, so I decided I wouldn't get it

But I play RO a lot on the TWB servers and I think I'm gonna get L4D soon once I get a little cash flow, so I'll join you boys online.

Is there a TFR BF3 platoon?

Can someone please post the link to the TFR BF3 platoon again? Going to join tonight after work. Also Gtab I am probably going to shamelessly take one of those Afghan War images you posted in the photo thread for my new Battlelog profile pic

Why did DICE have to do so many things right with the guns and accessories in BF3 then gently caress it all up by putting a 7.62 mag on the model for the RPK-74 I would honestly use it all the time if it didn't have a 7.62 mag

Hahaha for real? That's prety dude.

Yeah I know it's totally and stupid but computer games messing up the mags on AK models really drives me nuts for some reason.

I also don't use it because the PKP and MG36 own though

Strike at Karkand would benefit massively from little birds on each side

Helicopters need to be more fragile in general. Scout choppers should not take 3 Stingers. I'll accept the attack choppers doing that, but the scouts should not.

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't mind seeing scouts take 1, transports take 2, and attacks take 3; thoughts?

You crazy. The scout and attack choppers are fragile enough as it is. The only reason that scout and transport choppers can take a lot of stingers is because of people repairing them from the sides, if you take one in an attack chopper you have to go and hide while you autorepair for thirty seconds or so or hop out and repair and pray you can find a hidey hole or spot where no one can see you, if you're in a scout helo with no repairman just bailout because you're boned.

The scout and attack choppers as they are now are comically weak, especially with the tarded "balancing" of SOFLAM and javs. On the goon servers unless you get stuck on the pubbie team your chopper will legit not survive for longer than a minute in the air on Sharqi if that due to SOFLAM and jav spam. It's also hilariously easy to hit pilots or gunners in scout and attack helos. Choppers need a lot of work but the last thing that needs to be done is make them weaker.

Also bring back Havoc death cannon.

DrPop's Perfect Solution for Making Rush Good: Create a Rush variant called "Rush Large". Make maps bigger. Make it so there are three MCOMs at each stage and the attackers only need to blow up two to move on at each stage. Up ticket numbers. Enjoy

So you didn't quite "get" the idea of Rush then?

No I "got" the idea of Rush it's just that it was "poo poo"

You can still have concentrated maps without two corridor death hallways

Did the patch for XCOM mess up anybody elses' games in progress? All of my Alien Abduction events seem to be bugged now, along with terror events. The former bug out and only present one choice (instead of the usual three) to go to, don't display a country they're in, and the geoscape location for them is always the Arctic (and the end result is always a reduction in panic in North America or the United States. Terror attacks are the same, except there's obviously no options for those in the first place.

Been able to shoot down UFOs and assault landed ones as normal, though.

I just shot down my first supply barge and had a hell of a time surviving the assault on it. Got to meet Muton Elites, Heavy Floaters, and Sectopods all in one mission!

Almost lost my Russian scatter-laser wielding murder woman, thanks to not knowing that Sectopods get like a goddamn million free reaction shots. No more running and gunning + rapid fire to face against those dudes

Classic is a loving blast. It really makes you work hard and play smart to try to keep your good people alive, and as opposed to Normal I've had to actually retreat sometimes when I get two to three groups of aliens sprung on me.

In XCOM, is there any bonus to taking aliens alive outside of the initial interrogation research? I've got two shotgun assault troops that I use to take aliens alive all the time mostly out of pride, but I'm not sure it's worth the time and effort. It very nearly got one of my veterans killed taking the first encountered Sectoid Commander alive.

Incidentally, I don't think they planned for you to do that. I unlocked both interrogation and the autopsy off of one captured Sectoid Commander. Apparently the interrogation didn't go well for him...

I did that the first time around, too. I think that only one live alien capture is necessary to advance to the base assault, other live interrogations may give you research credit (making research projects go quicker), but I'm unsure.

What do you guys who have played more XCOM think the replayability is like? I got the impression that the original remained satisfying, but will this new version hold yer attention?

I just finished my game on Classic Ironman (Ironman means only save-and-exiting is allowed, can't manually save at whatever point you like to jump back if something goes awry, basically have to deal with whatever poo poo happens), and I may try another to lose less countries in the metagame but can't really see myself doing much beyond that. Progression is pretty linear and the combat isn't really varied enough to be consistently interesting. Was a fun 30 hours though.
