I guess I am in the minority on Fallout 3. I find it kinda boring and I don't like the combat. The endless walking is where I get bored the most. You don't even have to be "on the look out" because your radar thing will show you where enemies are before you can see them. If there were vehicles it would be 100 times more fun. The quick trip feature is nice but takes away from the whole "desolate wasteland" when all you are doing is hopping from one city to another. Vehicles instead of the quick trip would keep you more immersed in the game. I don't like the combat due to how many hits it takes to kill things. There is nothing more discouraging than shooting someone in the face and nothing happens. VATS sucks; again you use it to shoot them in the face and not only do they not die but now they have like 5 seconds of you frozen in place to shoot the poo poo out of you.

It will take me 3+ hits to the face with any weapon. Maybe I am just too low level but it is a turn off non the less. I will go back to playing it once this years game season is done. There are just so many more titles I would rather play than Fallout 3 right now. FWIW I never had any interest in playing the other fall out games. love the concept and environment just never liked the game play.

On the topic of lack of weapons Stranglehold is the first game to come to mind. Hard Boiled had all kinds of gun porn. I was expecting a plethora of guns to choose from including the Thompson Center Arms Contender. Instead we get the standard video game load out; Beretta, Desert Eagle, Spas-12, MP5, m4, Saw, LAW, and grenades. for reference http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Hard_Boiled

World in Conflict is pretty good though since everyone is on an equal footing in that regard. RTS games always annoys me when having the wrong units basically results in a complete massacre of your army. It was back when it first came out so it was just a standard SWAT 4 server. I would be down for anything if enough people want to play. I got a friend that would love to play it again. I play RTS single player or co-op against computer enemies. That is unless there are ground rules in place like no large attacks until both sides are ready or no super weapons. In RTS I like to make my bases neat and orderly. All power reactors in one area, all units in one area, etc. I forget which C&C it was but I was playing the computer and everyone of its units were dead but one guy that fell off the map or something. He was no where to be found so I said gently caress it and turned the entire map into one giant base with streets and everything. Took me like 2 hours to build it.

Insurgency is all about the flanks. If your entire team is pushing one way you and a few others head the other way. There is usually only one or two people guarding the flank. If you can get by them you can gently caress the enemy up. I used to play Insurgency a lot about a year ago but I have since gone to just playing single player games. I don't have the time to play multiplayer enough to not suck like I used to.

Left 4 Dead is a game I would not play on the console. It is hard enough trying to get clean shots with a mouse. I would be TKing everyone on the console. Infrared, post your specs. I have buckets of parts I am not using. If all you need is a 512 stick and a PSU I might be able to accommodate you. This game is on the half life 2 engine so you don't need much to run it.

I always wake the witch. She will only attack the person that disturbed her so the rest of the team can just mow her down while you back away as fast as you can. 7 out of 10 times she doesn't catch me. If you play it on expert its a one hit death from her but on any other difficulty your teammates can just revive you. Me and my roommate play the game more like an extermination squad rather than people trying to get the gently caress out of there. Some pubbies dubbed me the psycho butler

I forgot all about asking you to post your specs until you started talking about it again. I have a 512 stick of generic DDR ram here you can have if you want. I looked for a better AGP video card but yours is better than the few extras I have. Also what all are you running on the computer that you need more than 350w? That should be enough to run cpu, mobo, vid card (that doesn't need a 6 pin cable plugged in as well), hdd, and dvd-rom. From what I can see all you really need is another 512 and you should be good to play Left 4 Dead. It is based on the Half Life 2 engine so it doesn't need new age specs. However the amount of zombies it puts on screen might be pushing 512 of ram.

It is much better to try and suicide the ones you miss and quicker to respawn and get a better position. Majority of the versus games I have played the survivors really haul rear end and don't give you time to recharge.

Bored As gently caress posted:How the hell are you guys good enough to play on expert? I'm playing single player on my 360 and even advanced is hard as gently caress. This would be the reason I said I would not want to play it on a 360. Aiming with a thumbstick is to slow and hard to get quick precise shots. But yeah it is much easier with people to coordinate with. And that usually boils down to everyone get in a closet or corner and two guys kneel down and just swing to keep the zombies out while the back two stand there shooting all of them. Did some research on what brings the tank. "When the Director chooses to spawn a Tank, a player is randomly chosen to play it. The Tank has a frustration meter that forces it to find the Survivors. If it does not find the Survivors in this time, the player loses control of the Tank and the computer takes over." Michael Booth of Valve posted:At the core of Left 4 Dead's gameplay is a set of technologies we refer to as "The Director." Whether you're playing a game with 8 humans filling out the available roles or playing in "single player" mode, The Director is in charge of monitoring the pacing of the game. So, for example, if your team has been bombarded with Infected hordes and bosses, The Director will schedule a break in the action. If your team is chewing through Infected like bubble gum, The Director will send a few Boss Infected your way, and so on. And all of this is done procedurally to insure no play sessions are alike -- there are no triggers, generators, special flags, or other human-placed information in the environment that specify where to place the Infected. As a result, the Survivor team can never predict when or where they will encounter anything. So it looks like it is based on how well you are doing in both single and multiplayer but it sure doesn't feel that way. I can't find too much more on "the director." But I will keep looking because damnit so far "The Director" is an rear end in a top hat. The junk collector posted:The thing that kept getting me on expert is the game would put witches in places you had to go. Like at the base of ladders or once on the docks where the boat pick you up. expert tanks last longer. Anyone else run into a bug where it does not set the difficulty level you selected. We set it to advanced and didn't notice it was actually beginner until the tank died in a few seconds and none of us were scratched. Best way to stop a tank in multiplayer is 4 auto shotguns. he is dead in under a second.

Hit R and then butt strike till it says 10 again, if you don't fire the last round you won't have to chamber a new one and can start shooting instantly. I haven't purchased any of my games from Steam; I prefer having a physical copy and it takes me less time to drive to the store than to download the game. Microsoft can charge all they want because console gamers will pay it. A bunch of people on that forum I linked were already saying they have no problem paying for the updates. Not to mention the fact that console games are $60 when they come out, no matter if it is a budget tittle or not. It is great in campaign but Versus is so unbalanced. Like giving one team a tank on every round and none to the other. Placing witches in places you can't avoid (again for one team and none for the other). How about sending a random swarm right after everyone nearly being killed by the enemy team. Everything I am reading says that the director registers how well a team is doing and adjusts accordingly; yet everything I have seen is contradictory to that. My favorite one so far was when I was drat near dead with a tank and the rest of the enemy team chasing me down. I am the only one left alive and I am so close to the safe house I start to smile and think I am going to make it. The safe room is just a few feet around this corner, I am there gently caress ye...face to face with a witch. The last thing I said before being torn to shreds was "Seriously?" Why the gently caress would the director decide that I am not being challenged enough and plop a witch a few feet away from the safe house door.
